Convenient fun with a quiet place to rest your head and relax.
Winter is a great time for your family or ski party to discover the Apple Jacks Cabin. Its bright green exterior is a vivid contrast to the snow that covers the wide open spaces that separate Apple Jacks from neighboring cabins. Handsome, rugged log railings circle the Trex deck, and a six-foot wood screen provides additional privacy for the large spa on the back deck. Half-log trim around all the doors and windows complete this picture-perfect cabin. There is lots of space for parking in the front along with a parking spot that is flat with the road making it easy for cars to get in and out when it is snowing.
Set back far from Deer Canyon Road, Apple Jacks will make you feel like you have stepped back 20 years to a more serene Big Bear before it was discovered by Southern California as the perfect alternative to Aspen or Vale. Imagine walking to the ski lifts at Bear Mountain Resort without having to rise at dawn to find a parking space in the resort’s main parking lot. No longer will you have to be herded like cattle in those open flat-bed trucks from distant auxiliary lots. You can also walk to the nearby Moonridge Animal Park to visit the inhabitants of the surrounding San Bernardino National Forest.
Step inside its original diamond-paned front door and you will be in the spacious Apple Jacks great room. It features T&G wood ceilings, supported by large, rugged beams. You’ll also find a large, flat-screen television, with access to numerous cable channels. Two sets of French doors take up one wall of the great room and lead out to the large back deck with its spa, wood picnic table and BBQ.
To the right of the great room is the dining area and the fully-equipped kitchen. Let Mom relax in front of the large, flat-screen TV with a glass of wine while Dad and the older kids prepare dinner. You can even keep one eye on the young ones, who will want to head outdoors whenever they can. The front deck and the vacant lot next door are right outside the kitchen windows.
When it's time for the rest of your family or group to bunk down after an active day, Apple Jacks can officially sleep five adults and three children in its two bedrooms and converted den. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, with a balcony overlooking the deck and spa. There’s also a TV, DVD and CD player tucked behind the sliding doors of the closet. The second bedroom contains two full-size beds with 'picket-fence' headboards that will delight the kids. Downstairs, a former den has been converted to a third sleeping area that holds another full bed.
There's probably some guests who couldn't come up the mountain without a laptop, or have to do some real work to make the trip tax-deductible. Free wireless high-speed Internet access is available throughout the cabin. A special movie channel package has been added for the snow bunnies who prefer the indoors to the slopes. There's also unlimited US & Canada phone access. Three vehicles are authorized to be parked in the large, paved 2 areas in front of the cabin.
The lake is stocked with pink trout, year 'round, that has a mild pleasant taste, like a tender salmon. I prefer it to salmon.
Your family or best friends deserve the best for their ski 'n' snowboarding, or fishing getaway to Big Bear Lake with Apple Jacks -- all polished to perfection -- as your home base.

The property is very cozy, we enjoyed our weekend, the location is close to the village and restaurants. The fenced deck was perfect for our dog and our 2 year old, no worries about running into road. We enjoyed toe Ozone hot tub too.
Beautiful cabin with great amenities. Neighborhood is located near to anything in Big Bear you woulf want to see. Our family loved staying here and we would stay here again. We loved the decor, fireplace, and the hottub. The Master Bed was very comfortable.
We had a great stay/time at this cabin. Had everything we were looking for in a weekend getaway! So happy my dogs were able to come with us! Hopefully next time there will be snow.

The cabin is thoroughly cleaned & disinfected after each guest according to City & Covid Guidelines.
We will review inventory on our annual ”work on the cabin for a month” trip every February, which is when we fix & replenish & replace whatever the year of guests have used if it wasn’t fixed on-call during the year. Pls text a list in our VRBO conversation. Robin said she asked if you needed anything & you were very nice but had no suggestions at the time except “salt”.
Guests can text or call her anytime!
She’s our 24/7 feet on the ground!
She ran out & immediately got salt at your request.
You could have asked for whatever you needed.
Timely Communication is the key. Hope you had a great week and Christmas holiday at the cabin💕
We really enjoyed the stay at Apple Jacks' cabin. The check in was easy as the property manager met us the property and showed us everything we needed to know. The owner bent backwards to keep us happy. The internet is blazing fast and the bed is brand new. We look forward to coming back again soon!
Fell in love with the charm and warmth and amenities of Apple Jacks cabin. Our 3 kids had fun playing in the snow, the hot tub was perfect and the location was great. Robin got us acclimated to the cabin upon our arrival and made us feel very welcome. Will definitely like to stay here again.
Although it sleeps 5, only one tiny bathroom. Best for two.
Also, bathroom upstairs (steep) so not that convenient when downstairs or outside.
Great hot tub and deck.

Oh Dear💕You must have missed the 2 large bedrooms upstairs next to the bathroom! the large master bedroom and the one with 2 queen beds in it. Did you not notice doors to both sides of the bathroom door? That’s a new one ☝️ Sorry you missed half the house💕
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. It was a family trip and they were super nice about everything. Definitely worth it and i cant wait to do this again.
I loved our stay at AppleJacks cabin!! So cute, cozy, & comfortable. They had everything I needed to cook & bbq. I loved the enclosed decking with fence for our dogs. The jacuzzi was perfect to relax in with a cool view of the giant trees and stars above us! We would love to stay here again! Thank you!
Plenty of room for 4, conveniently located cabin. Manager was very accommodating in the timing of arrival. New Hot Springs hot tub was enjoyed by our son. Nice large deck was not used otherwise due to the weather. Interior was acceptable, but could be cleaner and updated throughout. Would stay again with those improvements.
Enjoyed the fireplace, hotub and back deck! Very comfortable cabin. Beds are very comfortable.
Unusual check in process in which you need to coordinate with property manager on arrival time and meet her there which can be tricky when travelling.
We drove to mountain, dropped off everyone and then drove car back to house, then short walk back to mountain to avoid mountain parking fee.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the cozy cabin.

Needs a cleaning
The people where great, location was great, house overall was good, but the cleanliness of the property was a real disappointment. It made my wife and I sick to the point we needed to leave early. Now I have no proof that the house was the cause we both feel that it is more than likely contributing to our health problems. We both felt marketably better when we left for extended periods and especially after we got home. Otherwise it’s a good house. Should be very forthcoming on what to bring before hand. A reminder to bring toilet paper and trash bags would be nice if they aren’t to be provided. Not a big deal just is a courtesy expected when paying for a place to stay. Overall the people are nice and easy to deal with.

Dear Matthew, you could have voiced your report to us directly, here, so we could correct any shortcomings were they present.
Let’s give credit where credit is due:
-The cabin is thoroughly disinfected before every stay according to City Covid Guidelines.
-No one else seems to have had issues like this.
-Illnesses generally have gestation periods of 3-17 days. You could have gotten sick anytime before your 2 night stay at our cabin.
-If our cabin had make you sick, it would have been better to tell Robin, who cleans & greets for us, so she could immediately re-disinfect everything, instead of telling her you are “leaving early to beat the storm”.
Correct me if I don’t have this right? There was a massive storm coming & you did not bring tire chains as legally required for winter travel in the San Bernardino Mountains (a $500 traffic fine).
I’d appreciate your report more if it were given in a timely fashion, if it weren’t in your public review, and so much too late to enjoy your stay.
Hope you are feeling better & have discovered the causes & cures of your conditions.
Robin gave you one star off for cleanliness & one star off for communication & one star off for not following house rules because you left a mess, didn’t communicate your concerns at the time, and didn’t follow cabin rules in general as stated in the contract you accepted before payment. Hopefully you can learn from this💕
This place is adorable. The pic makes itlooks like it is spacious.
Its 918 sq feet.. my best guess. Cute as a bug. HOWEVER. we were expecting a house not a cabin. I learned to pay attention from this mistake. That said It is very shabby sheek comfortablre decorated. The jaccuzi is pristine. The back patio is really the best spot for this property. The stairs to the upstairs second floor are wonky. Steep.. not level very narrow. If you have small children or old people i wouldn't recommend. The only bathroom is up these stairs. Also i was under the impression that there were 3 bedrooms. There are 2 lovely rooms upstairs. What they are claiming to be a 3rd bed is a snall utility room with a small bed and full size washer and dryer. ( the dryer did not work when we were there) Robin the property manager is an very friendly professional person.

Thank you for taking the time to review Apple Jacks Spa Cabin. We are pleased to hear you were able to enjoy the cabin. Our family cabin is just a bit bigger than your estimate at 976 sq ft. We are in our early seventies and bring our grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who also have small children. The staircase is a bit narrow but level. We encourage anyone who has trouble with stairs or needs assistance walking to find other accommodations, which you can find stated on the website.
This Cabin is great for a small family or couple. We had everything we needed for our 2 day stay. Although there was no snow, we were able to sled close by at snowplay. The location is nice and set back but not too far. They even provided a crock pot! We enjoyed the jacuzzi and robes, the games left, hot cocoa, cider, fireplace, and it was nice to be able to dry our snow clothes in the dryer. There are strict rules about being outside after 10pm and there are cameras at the entrance, front, and back to be sure rules are followed. We received multiple prequalification calls to go over rules and asked questions, we were messaged in the app, also sent the rules and contract, and also questioned again in person at the check in to ask what our plans were while we were in town, ages of who was staying, and also it's required to sign a contract in person with the Property manager at check in to be sure rules were understood. They have a limit of 5 people for the property. Robin the property manager was nice and even met us a little earlier than check in which was great considering we have kids. We would stay there again, but the pre-check in did feel a bit intrusive however we understand if they had issues in the past and are working hard to prevent losing their permit or having damage done to their property. Overall we did enjoy the cute cabin. It really gave a mountain vacation feel.
We try and stay at the Apple Jacks cabin every year. Great for kids and adults. Walking distance to Bear Mountain. Cozy up by the fire or relax in the hot tub. It’s our little home away from home.
The owner and manager were there ready to address any issues that we had. The deck was great. There was a privacy wall on one end. The gas grill was great for evenings on the deck. There were cabins close by but evenings were nice and quiet. The owner’s are getting a new hot tub soonish? So that will be a nice addition
Second time we stayed here and had a great time. Spa was pretty nice and sounds like they’re getting a new one later this summer. Will be back.
