The view from the patio was stunning, and we enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. However, several issues impacted our stay. The washer was broken upon arrival, though the listing advertised it as available. We weren’t informed in advance, and it wasn’t replaced until day five of our eight-day trip—despite multiple follow-ups. This was especially difficult as we had a newborn and had packed light assuming laundry was available. The trash cans were very small for a house that sleeps 11 and not bear-proof, only a light chain around the base with no top protection to prevent access from the bears. A bear got into them one night, leaving a mess. There were no instructions in the home about trash pickup—I had to message the host to find out if there was a pickup, come to find out we were supposed to put them out Monday, no where in the house or email was this ever conveyed. The driveway is extremely steep, which wasn’t mentioned or shown in photos. Our minivan scraped the top and bottom drive going in and out of the driveway. This should absolutely be disclosed for guests unfamiliar with mountain terrain. Also missing was a welcome binder with essential info (trash, Wi-Fi, nearby stores, house instructions, etc.). We had to ask about things that should have been clearly outlined. We made the best of our stay, but clearer communication and better preparation could’ve made this a much smoother experience.

Hi Alissa,
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback. We’re truly sorry for the frustrations you experienced during your stay, especially with the washer delay. We know how important that was for you and your family, and while we were able to have it replaced during your visit, we completely understand how inconvenient the wait was.
Regarding trash, pickup does occur weekly, and we just ask that everything be bagged and placed in the bins provided. While it’s not a common issue, being in the mountains does mean bears occasionally come through, and we’re sorry you had to deal with that during your trip.
For house details, we provide a digital guidebook with check-in information that includes Wi-Fi, house rules, and instructions such as trash and local recommendations. We’ll make sure it’s highlighted more clearly moving forward so nothing is overlooked.
Lastly, we hear your feedback on the driveway and will work on clarifying that in the listing for future guests who may not be used to mountain terrain.
We’re so glad you enjoyed the views, hot tub, and sauna, but we’re equally sorry your experience wasn’t as seamless as it should have been. Your comments are very helpful for us to improve, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share them.
