The place could use some upgrading but the main reason that I am writing this review is to inform future guests that the Hobbs’ Chalet is not wheelchair accessible for someone who is wheelchair bound. He labeled it as such because on the main floor (basement) has a bedroom, bathroom, small kitchenette and a pool table that you entered without a ramp. However, the bedroom was actually too small for his electric wheelchair without moving the furniture around in the room. I was deceived with what I was renting; before I made my reservation with Mr. Hobbs, I spoke with him explaining to him that I have a wheelchair bound member that will be attending the celebration and I would like for him to have access to all of the things the other members will have. So when he told me that he would have a bedroom and bathroom on the main floor, assuming that the kitchen and living space were available to him, I thought it would suit our family’s need. However, when I arrived at Mr. Hobbs’ place, I realized the main floor would be the only access space for my brother. He did not have access to the kitchen or the living areas where we would be having our meals and be socializing. I immediately called Mr. Hobbs and told him that he did not tell me that my brother would not have access to these areas. He were not at all compassionate with the fact that I was upset that my brother would be in the basement and not have access to the areas that I thought would be obvious to Mr. Hobbs. He kept saying that the pictures shows the rooms and that he told me. The pictures of the rooms are exactly as pictured but it does not state that the kitchen and living area are on the third floor. I told him that if I knew that he would not have access to the kitchen and living areas, I would not have booked this place. He later told me that I could bring dinner to him like when we eat at restaurants. I could not believe that he said such an idiotic statement. It only made me more upset with the thought that he did not have empathy for someone who was in a wheelchair. The positive side to this disappointing moment is that I met Eva Jones, his housekeeper, who took the time to get us a manual wheelchair to help transport him to the third floor. Although this did not work for us in the end, the thought that she understood my disappointment was a comfort. I hope this review will help any future guests especially wheelchair bound person (people) to realize what they are renting.
