During a visit back in 2009, we rented a Mid Century Modern home for the first time and that's when our affection for all-things "modernism" began. We admire the simplicity: open carports, clerestory windows, exposed concrete block, breezeways, gable and butterfly roof-lines, and large in-ground pools with spectacular mountain views.

Come for a visit and celebrate simple, clean and fun architectural design as a destination - and take in the abundant sunshine, clear blue skies, low humidity, and warm temperatures Palm Springs is known for.

Why Rodney chose Palm Springs, South

Suddenly, it's 1957!

This Twin Palms home has carefully recreated the look and feel of its original (William Krisel) design. Originally completed in 1957 by the Alexander Construction Company, this home is known as the "Gable."

Twin Palms is the first mid-century modern neighborhood built by George Alexander's company. Alexander and Architects Dan Palmer and William Krisel are credited with redefining the architectural landscape of Palm Springs residential real estate. Their success initiated the City's first major housing boom in the 50's and forever changed its architectural landscape.

The home renovation team worked closely with Mr. Krisel during the remodel and restoration of this exciting mid century modern home. The team consulted his archives, now at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, attempting to return the home to the look and feel that it had when first completed. The floor plan, a masterpiece of space planning, continues to work beautifully for today's lifestyle.

Fantastic and historic Palm Sprinngs Location

The house and property are perfectly located in Palm Springs. There's access to nearby bars, restaurants, and the surrounding mid-century modern homes are stunning. The home itself is historic and a classic example of the original architecture that makes the city so special. A wonderful place to stay for the real Palm Springs experience.

Great property, highly recommended!

We were a party of four, and had a great time at Rodney's vacation rental. The house was clean, well stocked and the pool was amazing (there were pool floaties!). Very smooth check in and check out process. Rodney was extremely available and would get back to us when we had any questions almost immediately. Thanks Rodney for having us!

A Beautiful Escape

As an interior designer, I booked this home based on the gorgeous mid-century architecture and decor. It was perfect for our needs, comfortable, bright and beautiful. Our grown children were available to join us, which was a rare treat. We relaxed by the pool, grilled a few dinners and loved the peace and quiet of the neighborhood, which was filled with beautiful homes. The location was close to the town of Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage, so we had a myriad of choices for dinners out. The house was spotless when we arrived and there was plenty of room for the four of us. It turned out to be a special time spent with family in the comfort of a lovely home. We will absolutely be back for another visit, possibly for a month! We loved Palm Springs and this home helped to create a perfect week!

Beautiful, fun, comfortable, clean and sunny.

Our review title says it all. The house was a dream spot. Plenty of towels, comfortable beds and a well stocked kitchen. We had so much fun relaxing by the pool and loved the location in a neighborhood filled with great mid-century homes. We look forward to coming back.

Attention to details

We were there for a week ending with the start of Modernism Week in Palm Springs that highlights fabulous mid-century homes such as this one. It was so much fun to be living the dream. Rodney has thought of every detail in his incredible restoration of a home built approximately 60 years ago. It makes you feel as though you are the first occupants of the original home with all of the modern conveniences of today. Be sure to find and read the books that describe the original home and the development of the neighborhood in the late 50's and early 60's. It will make you appreciate the architecture of the home even more such as the upper windows that make the home feel so open and light while allowing you to take in the beautiful surroundings and views of the mountains. The attention to detail extends to all the items provided in the home to ensure your stay is enjoyable and comfortable. Sadly, the home is organized better than our own. It was hard to leave!

Your Own Personal Resort

We were already planning a trip to Palm Springs and decided, months ago, to spend it in a private home versus the hotel or guest house route, like we typically do. It was such a great decision. This property was clean, modern and fully equipped. We didn't need the extra bedrooms, as there was just the two of us, but the spacious kitchen/living room area and the large and private pool area were perfect for a week of total relaxation. And a great neighborhood for morning walks to see dozens of other mid-century gems! We would gladly recommend this place and look forward to staying there again (frankly, we really didn't want to give the keys back).

Per Palm Springs' NEW Vacation Rental Ordinance, a Good Neighbor Brochure/City Manager Statement of Rules & Regulations will be provided, reviewed and signed by all adult guests prior to check-in; additionally, a written contract is required with lessee/responsible person.

Departure: a departure checklist will be provided ahead of your scheduled departure; additional charges may apply for stains on carpet, furnishings, bedding, and excessively dirty ovens, stove-tops, BBQ grills, dirty dishes, and excess trash in the home. Items needing extra cleaning at departure may be charged to guest or deducted from guest deposit.
