Large studio home in newly renovated stone house, sleeps 2
Why Leigh Ann chose Central Eleuthera
We bought our first property, Palms at Double Bay in 1995. We added the property to the north some 12 years later and discovered a small stone cottage buried in the bush, reportedly the first structure built on Double Bay. We didn't have the heart to tear it down so we contracted with a local builder and completely renovated the cottage, adding porches to the footprint. We are excited to offer this special cottage to guests as we have Palms for the past 20 years.
What makes this Cottage unique
Palms cottage has always been a place of privacy and peace. When renovating the stone house we took great care in retaining its island flavor and the privacy of both homes. We cut a separate path to the beach and have begun a few plantings around the house. The south end of Double Bay is especially private because there are few homes there. The beach in front of the property is all sand and extends into the water on either side. And then there is Double Bay, a beautiful two mile stretch of pink sand.

What a lovely stay we had in this pretty little cottage located a short walk from a spectacular beach! This was our second visit to Eleuthera and we try to stay at different locations so we can get to know places a little better each time.
Though there is not a direct beach view here, the walk through the private, manicured pathway to the beach was an extra treat! Each time we took the walk we would notice something different. The beach is really quite beautiful and very private. There were a few neighbors out enjoying the water and beach but we still felt like we were alone. We did visit a few other beaches but often found ourselves returning home to "our beach" because we liked it so much better. We'd been spoiled!
We had everything we needed to prepare meals and even do a quick load of wash if needed. My husband enjoyed using the grill and I was delighted to have a pretty soundproof area in the house to practice my bagpipes and not annoy the neighbors. Probably not important to most people but I have a stack of music to memorize so really needed to bring them with me. Sigh!
We would definitely stay again the next time we return to Eleuthera. I can't imagine anyone not falling in love with this little gem!
Quiet, private and amazing beach!
This is a beautiful newer cottage a short walk down the path to the beach. It is very private and relaxing. The beach is very long and there are very few people on it, nothing short of amazing! The surf is very low so great access to the water.
The cottage is well equipped and while not luxurious, very nicely done. We really liked it. My only improvement would be to have a sign or some other identifying mark at the end of the driveway to make it easier to find the first time in.
We have had a very hectic year! The Stone House in Eleuthera was exactly the relaxing vacation for us. Located centrally on Eleuthera and close to Governor’s Harbor with shopping and Restauant’s. Our favorite beaches, Ten Beach just a short drive away and the beach at Tippy’s and as for meals breakfast at De perk GH, lunch at Buccaneers GH, Tippy’s GH or Frigates in Rock Sound and dinner at 1648 GH. We also ventured to the south to Queens Beach, Ocean Hole and Cape Eleuthera, trip to the north included Glass Window Bridge and a shell beach on the Caribbean side just north of the GH Airport all worth the trips.
The Stone House is beautifully restored and outfitted for all your needs. PS the bed is very comfortable which is important to us.The beach is a short hike from the house and the beach is picture postcard beautiful. Sand gradually continues into the water and perfect for swimming. Especially loved the outside shower when coming back from the beach. If the winds blow from the north it does get a little rough, but Ten Bay Beach is a fifteen minute drive almost directly across to the Caribbean side. Shopping (and food) is expensive and best store is thirty minutes to the south. Gas for rental car in Governor’s Harbor at the Shell station which also has provisions. Norma’s Gift shop next to the Police station in GH is best we saw for high quality gifts and clothing. Ask for Sara - very nice and helpful. Will be back.
Beautiful beach and great cottage
The cottage is nicely equipped and perfect for two. The scenic and secluded beach is a very short walk from the house and we enjoyed relaxing and also some very good sport fishing when the wind was calm. It is easy to visit other beaches and a car is a must to really enjoy the island. The property is an excellent choice to disconnect for a few days.
Super cute cottage!
We loved our stay at the Stone House! Had everything we needed!
Just the two of us!
First timers to Eleuthera. So we really didn’t know what to expect. But Clyde, Anne and their daughter at Island Farms helped us feel welcome. Beautiful restoration of the old stone cottage. Awesome beach - really private. Explored a few other beaches. All jaw dropping but found that we were happy with our “local” place on the sand at Double Bay. Outdoor shower!!! And last but not least - the night sky!!!
Thank you for preserving this peacefulness and beauty.
We will be back ❤️
