About Todd or Lisa
Lisa and Todd live near Baltimore, Maryland but both have paternal roots in the midwest. They love good food, good wine, and slow travel and want to share their love of hedonism with you!
Todd or Lisa purchased this Chalet in 2012
Why Todd or Lisa chose Gibraltar
My grandfather Edward bought this property around 1970 and it passed to my father in 2004. My father and I cleared the home site together in 2008 in preparation for my parents to build but they both passed away before construction could begin. Lisa and I had fallen in love with the area and decided to continue their plans to build a home here in Door County. My mother named it Five Birches after the grove of birch trees outside the master bedroom.
What makes this Chalet unique
Our favorite things about Five Birches is that it is essentially our own design, the proximity to Fish Creek and the bay, and the private meadow down the trail from the house.

My wife and I stayed at Five Birches with our 2 daughters, husbands, and 3 children (two 1 year old, and one 3 year old) in mid-September, and had an absolutely great time. The location is convenient to just about anything in Door County, and enabled us to easily plan dining, shopping, golf, and beach-time with the kids while still maintaining their nap schedule back at the house. The home was extremely clean, well maintained, and well-stocked with an extensive collection of books, games, puzzles, DVD's, and CD's. We also loved the open configuation of the home, which is particularly family-friendly.
And, the weather was PERFECT!
We hope our schedules will allow us to return next year!
We're glad you had a great time - September is a fantastic time to be in Door County! It's always great to hear that our guests appreciate our home's amenities.
We hope you'll stay with us again!
Best Way to Experience Door County
Our family of 7 had our first stay at Five Birches and cannot wait to make it an annual event! The home was immediately welcoming, very clean and accommodating for all our needs. We utilized every inch of the beautiful home for cooking, playing games, letting our toddler perform, and making family memories. Coming home after fun days to this comfortable, easy space was the highlight. We loved every minute here and are already counting down until our return!

Comfortable and lovely
This is the second time our book club (4 couples) stayed at this property. It is very attractive with up to date amenities and accommodates everyone very well. The large great room, fireplace and fire pit on the property are all features we enjoy in our winter get-away. The kitchen allows for multiple cooks and the large dining space works well for eating, gaming, cards, etc. It is also well located to the Door County parks and towns. Thank you for providing this vacation option.
Average but slightly disappointing
The home was beautifully maintained. We enjoyed our stay, would have liked a TV in the living room. No blinds in the living room made the afternoons warm and bright, not necessarily bad. It had everything we needed except a few basic. Each bathroom and kitchen was stocked such that it did not accommodate our three night stay. For example each hand soap container have very little soap, one roll of toilet paper per bathroom. Very inconvenient.
Five Birches is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. There wasn't one thing I can think of that the owners didn't have in this home, from a sewing kit to golf clubs! We enjoyed a week in Door County & found Five Birches to be in a very convenient location. The home is so comfortable and relaxing. It is perfect for a family or group. We will definitely plan on returning & hoping it can be an annual destination!
Gorgeous, spacious and homey!
Three couples stayed for a long weekend at Five Birches and we couldn't have been happier! Set in a beautiful woods, so you feel secluded yet it is convenient to everything. Spacious, beautifully decorated, a fully stocked kitchen, large deck, firepit for roasting marshmallows and making smores :-) Everything you could ask for in a home away from home! We ended up spending more time at the house than we usually spend when we're staying in Door County because it was so relaxing and enjoyable just to be there and hang out together!!
Glad to hear you liked the house enough to spend extra time in it! We love our location because of the privacy and proximity to town.
Hope to see you again!
