Generously Sized And Comfortable 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath Home
About Susan VanKersen
We didn't know each other then, but we (George and Susan) both came to up north to Spider Lake as kids during the summer, and we both moved permanently to Traverse City as young adults the first chance we got (a long time ago). We love this lake and are happy to call it home. We own and operate a restaurant/bar just down the road called Peegeo's which is in its 34th year.
Why Susan VanKersen chose Traverse City
We take pride in our property. It is well maintained, sparkling clean, and very comfortable. Whether you want to fish, ski, golf, hike, swim, gamble, ride a horse, shop, or just kick back on the deck with a glass of local wine and a good book, this property is situated in the right place. The property has over 100' of private frontage on Spider Lake and its own dock, along with a deck right at the water's edge.

Very clean, spacious and well stocked. We had a great time and Susan was readily available to assist or answer our questions.
Beautiful northern Michigan
Owner was great. Had a great time.
Clean, well-equipped lakefront rental property
Very clean and spacious rental house with a well-equipped kitchen. Lovely setting on a cove (no-wake zone!). Large deck w/gas grill; plenty of outdoor seating. No A/C but we didn't need it (stayed 6/19-29 and there were several fans available. Host very responsive to our questions sent via text. Would definitely book again!
Amazing lakefront cottage for weekend getaway
This cute cottage on Spider Lake was a great retreat for Memorial Day weekend. Our two dogs absolutely loved the fenced-in yard and pristine waterfront. It looked like newer updates had been made to the home and it was well-situated to downtown TC (only about a 15-18 minute drive — plus, TC has Uber/Lyft, so easy to get around). We had an issue with the Wi-Fi and Susan was quick to help. The on-site kayaks were nice for exploring Spider Lake. All around a great cottage and will definitely re-book in the future!
The home is clean and well kept. The setting is lovely. The home is well appointed.
The bathrooms however could use some work. The Master bathroom toilet did not flush well. And both bathrooms could use an update.
Other than that it was a peaceful and enjoyable stay.
Comfortable, clean, relaxing
Me, two kids and a dog stayed for a week in August and couldn't have been happier. The house is showing its age, but was very clean and outfitted with everything you need. The location is great ... Spider Lake is quiet, surrounded by beautiful woods and parks, and an easy drive to TC and other points of interest. My kids and dog loved the swimming, made better by the owners' platform just off the dock. Great place for kayaking, there was not a lot of boat traffic and plenty to look at. Susan is extremely nice and responded quickly to the few questions I asked. There were a few dings about beds in past reviews, but we found the beds and furniture to be very comfortable. I highly recommend this house!
The property is on Spider Lake, 10 miles southeast of Traverse City in the beautiful forest lakes area. Day trips may include the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes in Empire, Michigan; Old Mission peninsula and lighthouse; downtown Traverse City including the Clinch Park Marina and many parks; or one of our local orchards or wineries. Surrounding Traverse City are many quaint towns for shopping or sightseeing, including Leland, Suttons Bay, Elk Rapids, and Northport. If you enjoy gambling, Leelanau Sands Casino is a 45 minute drive, and Turtle Creek Casino is a 25 minute drive. There are numerous excellent golf courses in the area. Local maps and tourism information will be available upon your arrival.
