About Leslie

We bought our home in 2006, which is comprised of two properties. One of course is our home and the other we used as office space for my paralegal work. We were always looking to utilize both properties and when I finished working, we decided to rent that space as a vacation rental. My husband and I are from Michigan, but we’ve also lived in Utah for awhile. We later moved to Eugene and always enjoyed coming over to the coast. We knew we wanted to eventually retire here.

Leslie purchased this studio in 2006

Why Leslie chose Central Coast

We enjoy the sound of the waves from the beach. We also love to walk on the beach every chance we get no matter what the weather, and Jetty our Golden Retriever loves it even more.

What makes this studio unique

One unique benefit of Surf Sounds is the pool table. It’s always fun to play a game of pool when time permits. It is also very quiet and peaceful with trees and large rhododendron bushes surrounding our properties. Being super close to the Beach, but protected from the wind and usually out of the summer fog, also makes it a fantastic location.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The place was very nice and the beach is very close (just a walking distance away). The neighborhood is also nice, a little mixed between pricy and non-pricy, not only pure vacation neighborhood. Seafood can be bought downtown Florence and cooked at home, they had some great stuff down there. The host kept for themselves and had a very good printed manual in the apartment. I would recommend people to stay at this location yes.

Perfect for us!

  • 5 of 5

It was our first time to the Oregon coast and wanted to be within walking distance of the ocean without paying for oceanfront. This roomy studio was roomy, comfortable and quiet (except for the nearby distinct sounding lighthouse sounding off-but enjoyed it). We liked the access to parking in the attached pole barn and laundry. Close enough to town. Including Old Town Florence. Easy access to many attractions. Our dog especially liked the daily beach walks - she was exhausted!!! Only downside was I would prefer more window covering to darken it up for sleeping. The area is secluded enough, even with the house next door. People there were real nice. Appreciated the binder of info that described some places to go and things to do. Would stay here again!

My husband and I arrived alone (without children or grand children; first time ever! We celebrated our 40th anniversary on the 16th and could not have been happier! We visited my uncle again; who lives close by and had him over for dinners. The pool table was a great past time and so was the nearby beach! We will be back in 2016 and hope this place is available. I would recommend it to anyone; and perhaps next time will bring the dog...and maybe even one of the grand children!

The Name Says it All!

  • 5 of 5

So close to the beach that you can sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine and listen to the surf. Not only is this cozy rental so close to the beach but it's proximity to Old Town and hiking trails makes it's location appealing as well. The owners were extremely helpful in suggesting great restaurants for whatever we were craving from pubs, to Mexican/with a view, to seafood. Inside of the rental had everything we needed and also the little extras that you might forget. We enjoyed playing pool and we definitely liked the fact that the TV mounted on the wall with a swivel so we could enjoy watching it from bed too! We will recommend Surf Sounds to our friends and would love to make it back this way again.

Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed the third week of May, 2015 with our two Labs. I would echo what other reviewers wrote. Everything you need, close to beach, and dog friendly! Very nice outside seating BBQ area protected from wind. The large garage was a big bonus for us, we were able to keep our boat inside. It was also handy to be able to use the washer and dryer in the garage. The neighborhood is quiet and wooded. Easy access to Old Town Florence and the dunes. You can walk to the beach in a matter of minutes. Owners were helpful but certainly not intrusive. Lots of places to eat nearby but we prepared all of our meals at the house. This place was just a lucky find for us!

Beach Feel with the Comforts of Home

  • 5 of 5

My mom and I stayed at Surf Sounds for one week and found the accommodations to be very comfortable and much like home. Everything that one needs is provided in this "little house" and even things that we may have forgotten to pack. The beach was easily accessible enough to take a daily beach walk. You can truly hear the sounds of the surf from the house! The proximity to Florence and all it offers was a plus. I would highly recommend this cute beach bungalow to anyone!

Wonderfly Warm an Welcoming

  • 5 of 5

I could not rave about our stay here enough! From our arrival to departure we were comfortable in this home. The house itself is warm and cozy and so quiet. The big things were access to the large garage for a "mudroom" after taking the kids and dogs to the beach, plus a place to do my exercise routine in the early morning before others were up. The washer and dryer were a must to happy days spent getting wet and sandy at the ocean and in the woods.

The closet was stocked with lots of extra towels and bed linens, complete with rag towels, kitchen towels, more pillows, blankets. There were spices and cooking oil, butter, condiments for us. The shower runs full and hot, the freezer has ice and the sink works perfectly. There was even a vacuum to help keep the home tidy dury our stay!

There were lots of pamplets and maps for the area, extra pens and pads of paper, games, books and movies to watch on the DVD. Of course, the pool table was a hit, but we spent most of our time walking the quiet neighborhood streets, the long, sandy beach and making short trips into Florence, The Dunes, Cape Perpetua and Heceta Head.

We can't wait to return, and while highly recommend this home, kind of don't want to give out Heceta Beach's best kept secret!
