Come stay at our charming, spacious and fully remodeled home in an adorable neighborhood of Portland. This is a home away from home! Everything is brand new as the house was redone from the studs up.
The Metzger/Multnomah Village neighborhood is minutes from downtown Portland, the Portland Zoo, Japanese and Rose Gardens, blocks from Washington Square Mall and one exit from Lake Oswego. Being only 6 blocks from I-5 makes it extremely convenient for any activity that brings you to Oregon without having to navigate the congested Highway 26 at the North end of the city.
This location in the Metro area is our personal favorite and we have owned several homes in the neighborhood because it is convenient to everything, quaint, quiet and well established. The home is walking distance to Fred Meyers grocery store, 5 blocks from Metzger Park, 1 mile from the Garden Home Rec Center which has summer camp for kids, classes for all ages, sports activities year round and much more and 3 miles from the quaint Multnomah Village. Portland Community College Sylvania campus is 2 miles away.
You will have the entire home to live in during your stay. The home is a large 2200 feet with 5 bedrooms (7 beds), 3 full baths on a 1/2 acre with beautiful trees and a lovely sunset deck. There are 5 bedrooms, 2 upstairs and 3 downstairs. The upstairs master has a queen bed with a private bath and large walk in closet. The 2nd upstairs bedroom has 2 twin beds and a full bath off the hall. Downstairs has 1 bedroom with a queen bed, a 2nd room with a queen bed, and a 3rd room with bunk beds. There is a spacious full bath downstairs. All 3 baths have shower and tub are stocked with soap, lotion, hair products, hair dryer. All of the linens are new and there are plenty of blankets and pillows and cozy comforters. Upstairs comfortably sleeps 4 and downstairs 6. All rooms have true mattresses; there are no futons.. This is a very family friendly home as the downstairs offers a spacious living/ rec room and there's lots of yard to play in and explore. (Please note - - - due to insurance restrictions we absolutely do not allow events! Maximum people day or night is 12. Many people believe that if they rent this great, large home that they can throw an event but we do not allow events and we do live in the neighborhood!) If you choose to cook you have a fully utensiled gourmet kitchen including oil, spices, coffee pot. There is a phenomenal grocery store walking distance 4 blocks away for any food items you might need. There are lots of local pubs and eateries within a mile of the house and a guide to Portland's central restaurants is provided.
Kara and I are avid cyclists and can provide referrals to bike rental shops and great cycling destinations. We are not on site but close by if you need us. We love this house and our city and are excited to share both with you. Kara has decorated the house with treasures for all to enjoy. There are many original pieces of art, vintage touches and charming antiques but no lack of a modern feel!
Come and enjoy!
Note: The main floor can be accessed without stairs. The kitchen, living room, deck, 2 full baths and 2 bedrooms are on the main floor. Three bedrooms and a full bath is downstairs. This is a no pets, no shoes and non smoking home.

I grew up in the area and Kara emigrated from California in the 90s. We live in SW Portland close by and our office is not too far off in Lake Oswego. Kara is a Family Medicine doctor in private practice and I help run her very busy clinic. She has been practicing in the community for over 14 years and I have been a mortgage broker for 20 years. We have 2 teenage boys, cats, chickens and fish. We race bicycles, cross train in any way we can including kayaking, skiing, riking (a combo run/hike sport we created because hiking was just too slow much to the chagrin of our kids!). Kara is a photographer and also paints, makes jewelry and can't wait to get a pottery wheel someday. She supports local artists any way she can and is an avid collector of modern and vintage artwork. I am a woodworker, lather and burgeoning chef. We are avid herb and vegetable gardeners, love food, great wine, music and always look forward to helping guests with restaurant selections. We know the region well and have our favorite excursions and are available for guidance! We have used VRBO extensively for our travels in the US and all over Europe and hope our experiences help make yours a wonderful one! We are excited to share this lovely home with you! James

Why James chose Metzger
We are hoping to share our love of the Northwest and make some new friends by opening our Oak Street home. We purchased the home for Kara's mother but cold feet have kept Mom in California for now. We love the house too much to sell! It has recently been remodeled from the studs out and is perfect for a romantic getaway or a family road trip with a big crew. If you have a wedding in the area, this is a great place for multiple generations to stay, feel part of a large family and celebrate together!

A Thoughtful Landlord and A Gracious Space
Our family Christmas reunion was blessed to be in this space. Everyone remarked on how comfortable they felt in this home. The kitchen accommodated many cooks at one time. The downstairs tv viewing area was very comfortable and the children enjoyed the play area complete with Legos, games and books. The upstairs kitchen, dining room and living room space was well furnished and conducive to several conversational groups at one time.
Each bedroom was nicely furnished and comfortable. The instructions were clear and complete, even to where to find the circuit breaker when too much was going on in the kitchen. The landlord was attentive and charming. He went out of his way to be helpful.
Clean, spacious, comfortable!
Very comfortable family sized home!
Hood to Coast Haven
Our large group visited Portland from Charlotte, NC to run in Hood to Coast and stayed after the race for some time to enjoy the area. This lovely house very comfortably accommodated our crew, had all the amenities and supplies we could have hoped for and more, and was perfectly situated for our stay. We especially enjoyed the ability to hang out on spacious outdoor patio in the mornings and evenings when we were not out exploring. There is a nice grocery store 1/2 mile away, easy access to the interstate and was a great home base for the multiple day trips we took to wine country, Mount Hood, waterfalls, Astoria and trips to explore Portland itself. The home owners were incredibly gracious and accommodating as well. We would definitely rent this home again and highly recommend it for your visit!
Wonderful place, lots of space, and a great location
We flew into Portland to visit my sister in law and really enjoyed our stay. The house had plenty of space for our family of 6. The kids felt right at home and appreciated the board games. The home is well cared for and close to everything while still being located in a quiet neighborhood.
Very charming and convenient location
We were very impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of this home. It truly is a SW Portland charmer. There was plenty of room for our group and all the rooms were tastefully decorated. Located close to stores, freeways, and to far from the downtown area. Recommend this lovely home for any family that is looking for charm and comfort over elegance. The owner was very accommodating and we had no issues during our 3 night stay.
Birthday in Portland
The house is a great place for families since it has all the comforts of home. We stayed with our children and grandchildren. The house has a recreation area with a corner full of children's toys. We came to celebrate my Mother's 100th birthday and had a great time. The owner was very accommodating, even going as far as giving my Mother a birthday card. The house is larger than it looks from the outside. The location was perfect for us since it is close to family members living in Portland as well as convenient to downtown Portland and the zoo. We highly recommend this home.
Anything you could possibly want is less than 15 minute drive. The access to freeway is 1 mile away. Great quiet neighborhood that is 1 mile from the largest mall in Oregon, Costco, 7 theater cinema and walking distance to a brand new Fred Meyers grocery. Metzger is the hidden gem of Portland. It is minutes from everything Portland has to offer and easy access to the freeways that will take you to the splendid destinations just outside the city.
