About the host
Hosted by Brian Norling
I have owned this property for over 25 years and have continuously improved it over time. I am retired and travel often. I have chosen to rent this incredible home while I travel, letting other people enjoy it while I am on travel.
Why they chose this property
I chose this location for its beautiful ocean views, great schools, safety, and great neighbors, and the best weather. The Mesa neighborhood is one of the most popular in Santa Barbara.
Santa Barbara has 300+ sunny days a year. Also, the cool ocean breeze corelates with the heat in the desert. So when it gets hot in the desert, more cool air flows in off the ocean to cool the house. Even two miles inland, it is often over ten degrees hotter than on the beach. That is why the property does not need air conditioning, except in very rare cases.

What makes this property unique
Very few properties have 180+ plus ocean views and large grounds. It is very private property with tall hedges and fences on east and west boarders. It is also very quite on the ocean side. Unlimited parking, including RV parking in the driveway. And the best climate in the US.
It gives guests a choice between a cozy, wind protected upper deck with big couches, a long gas fireplace, a very large beautiful teak dining table seating 12, a barbecue, and space heater.
Or a large flagstone terrace, couches, chairs and chase lounges, a fire pit, exercise area, and beach views, great for sunrise morning coffee.
Or a secluded wooden deck on the bluff edge with spectacular ocean, sunset, and lighthouse views (the favorite of most people).
Approximately 24,00 gray whales migrate by the house in the spring. Dolphins are very common hang out inside the kelp beds, sometimes with pods outside the kelp beds number in the thousands. Killer whales, gray whales, blue whales, humpback whales, great white sharks, sea otters, and fin whales are also seen rarely. The best time to see specific species varies throughout the year, blue and humpback whales from May to September.
