As an avid traveler myself, I have often used VRBO and had wonderful adventures that far exceed the typical hotel experience. You get far more for your money! I have equipped my home to make a get-away as convenient and stress free as possible with a fully equipped kitchen, hair dryers, plenty of towels including beach, beach chairs, charcoal grill on deck, notebook filled with best spots to eat or get a massage! Different from the run-of-the-mill overcrowded, high rise, putt putt infested, condo after condo...this community is tranquil with the tallest building a 2 story lodge and is predominantly private homes, golf courses and tennis haven. I chose it for the 2 acre private setting...rare at any beach town. I plan to hand this down to generations through my four grown children and keep this gem in the family.
Laura purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Laura chose South Ponte Vedra Beach
When looking for a house near the ocean, my neighbor, a Florida cracker born and raised here said to me..'you, my dear, are getting the last little piece of heaven in Ponte Vedra Beach!' When I want rest and relaxation, I don't want fast food restaurants on every corner and congested traffic. I chose this due to the tranquil setting, the feeling of a retreat home rather than just a house, the gorgeous giant Oaks and location that feels a million miles from anything but is in reality minutes from everything I could possibly need....good nutritious food, fun local coffee house, local hardware store, exercise and spas and the finest restaurants on par with Charleston, NYC and New Orleans!
What makes this Cottage unique
Sit on the front porch swing and see the lifelong pair of hawks, the rafter of wild turkeys that strut through daily, all types of birds and if lucky....you will hear but may see the white barn owl who claims ownership to this land. I enjoyed completely renovating this 1980's loghouse updating with all new appliances, a real tin roof to hear the pitter patter of rain, a gorgeous stone fireplace for a romantic evening or reading by the fire,a visit to the bike shop just a jaunt down the street to rent a bike and ride along the beach homes of Ponte Vedra (15 mph!) or down along the Guana Preserve. Walk for miles on the beach and it is quite possible you will have the beach to yourself most of the walk!

Unique Property. Conveniently Located
Laura communicated very well from the initial booking inquiry request, during our stay, and afterward, which was much appreciated when any questions arose. The location is excellent to access Mickler/Guana Beach areas, Ponte Vedra Beach shopping, and Sawgrass. It’s a safe one mile walk to the sand.
As quiet and private as the house felt, it was hard to believe all of the aforementioned was so close by the property. The log cabin style home itself was very unique for the area. We twice saw a doe and yearling in the backyard and a flock of wild turkeys every day. The landscape is very much “old Florida,” with beautiful tall oaks, Spanish moss, fan palms, and a swamp/pond area. Mosquitoes, of course, come along with that, so come prepared with spray.
The house was equipped with everything we needed to cook, do laundry, and most importantly, relax.
Book with confidence!
Thank you, Laura.
Wonderful guests! Come again.
Best of both worlds! The sun and the shade!
What could be better after a day at the beach or on the golf course than to return to the solitude of this unique beach haven, nestled among palm trees and giant oaks over 2 acres of natural beauty.....drinks on the deck every night while barbecuing and listening to the sounds of the Iguana Reserve! The house is setback several hundred yards from Neck Road along a lengthy drive which is a treasure in itself. It is beautifully furnished and if you are a pianist you will be in second heaven playing on the baby grand piano. We are planning to visit in the cooler seasons also and enjoy a roaring log fire in the large stone fireplace! The kitchen is well equipped with black granite countertops and great appliances and the bedrooms are beautifully decorated with very comfortable mattresses. It's a beautiful walk to what is Ponte Vedra's only beach with parking, a bathroom and outdoor shower! As much as we enjoyed the beautiful beach in all truth we couldn't wait to get back to our charming log cabin each day and swing on the porch! It's a regular occurrence to see a group of wild turkeys strut by and a deer or two....certainly not your typical noisy 3 bedroom concrete condo. And if you are unfamiliar with Ponte Vedra proper, it is very upscale with wonderful restaurants and shopping. This was our second visit and it won't be our last. If we could work from home, we'd stay a month!
Come again and stay longer! You described the experience of this charming gem tucked away under the Florida oaks so well.
Perfect for a getaway!
We have friends in the area so we come down to visit fairly often, but we've never been more satisfied than we were after our experience here! The property is well maintained and hidden behind a large front yard enveloped by old trees. It's comfortably nestled away, but still a short distance from the beach, grocery stores, restaurants, shopping etc.. The house was spotless when we arrived, beautifully decorated with old furniture, and fully equipped with all modern appliances. The owner was always quick to respond and did everything she could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. It's also the perfect place to grill out on the back porch after a long day at the beach! Can't wait to book again! 5 stars!
We enjoyed a week there in late March.
Property - The cabin itself is nice but more quaint than anything. The condition seemed to be maintained but in a more rustic way (examples - some florescent lights, 70's feeling bathrooms and even electrical outlet covers missing in spots on baseboards). We had to dig around some to find spare toilet paper and paper towels and there was only 1 or 2 dishwasher pods. And we got a BYO ice message. The lot may be 2 acres but it is a narrow and long 2 acres with a large pond/ swamp - so don't assume a wide and spacious lot. I think there is smaller out-parcel cabin in the very back the owner's son lives but he was respectful and we only saw him once when he wanted to water plants and he texted in advance.
Area - It is about a 1 mile walk to the public beach at Mickler Rd. There are sidewalks but you must cross a very busy road at A1A .. I didn't really understand that looking at the map. It backs up to a nature area you can see on the map but most of the property along Neck Rd was private homes so you can not really see the nature area without feeling like you are trespassing on someone's property. We used the public beach down the road in the Guana Nature Preserve it was much less crowded but with a $3 parking fee.
I provide a new roll of 2 ply toilet paper (Charmin) per bathroom and a new roll of Bounty paper towels, dish washing detergent for machine and hand washing, bath soaps and liquid Dove body wash....and there is even detergent for clothes. I'm guessing this fellow isn't familiar with VRBO versus staying in a hotel. He was the 2nd guest to enjoy brand new living furniture that is gorgeous...yet finds an outlet cover missing! My guess is he is an engineer😎
COMFORTABLE AND COZY
We very much enjoyed our stay. The house is comfortably furnished and since it was winter, we especially enjoyed the wood burning fireplace in the living room. It is very pet friendly and a lovely beautiful setting!. Laura was very responsive to all of our questions and needs. It is pet friendly which was important to us. Snuggled deep on a wooded lot you feel very remote, but it is wonderfully located to shops, restaurant and the beach. It had lots of special places to sit and contemplate the surroundings or just sit and read. Loved the little office/sunroom on the front of the house, the swing on the front porch and the back porch with a view of the preserve. We had a lovely month there.
Fabulous Florida retreat
The owner and this location allowed me and my family to have a fantastic reunion. My nephew got married in Jacksonville and we all wanted to stay together to visit. We represented Alabama, Nevada, California and Arizona. All came together in this cabin snuggled in a very lovely quite neighborhood. Minutes to everything yet away from all the hassle and bustle. The moss hangs in the trees providing a fabulous canopy for the property. Just beautiful.
The owner was VERY responsive throughout the planning. She also was available if needed during our stay. I can't wait to return to this lovely gem!
Modernized loghouse nestled among giant Florida Oaks set back on 2 acres of private, tranquil grounds and only 3 miles to entrance of TPC tournament. This is a total get-away from the stressors of everyday life! Swing on the front porch and listen to nature. Not unusual to see a rafter of wild turkeys strutting through or beautiful deer grazing. This spot gives the feeling of being far away yet is convenient to everything in town. Bike rentals are a few minutes walk from the house and only minutes to the beach. This is a very private beach as the Guana National Preserve begins and is 15 miles of undeveloped beaches! Some enjoy horseback riding on the beach. Minutes from Fresh Market, Starbucks, breakfast diner, and 5 star restaurants!
