About the property

Chalet, 5 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 11)

The Big Cottonwood Cabin, minutes from Solitude and Brighton ski resorts in the heart of the famous Wasatch Range, and a short drive to Alta and Snowbird, is a unique hand-crafted log home built in 1997 by a Master Craftsman. Furnishings include many original rustic log creations, each one a piece of art. Four bedrooms have queen beds, and the fifth has a bunk bed with full bed on bottom and twin bed on top.

The 3500 square foot cabin is carefully and tastefully decorated with each room having its own special ambiance. Enjoy the great room with its massive riverstone wood burning fireplace, or the game room with its own massive wood burning fireplace and attached full bar, or just relax in the private outdoor six person Jacuzzi.

The Smoke-Free Cabin has magnificent views of Solitude, Silver Fork and Big Cottonwood, and with it's southerly exposure, sunny afternoons will draw you to the exterior deck after a long day of hiking, skiing or just playing in the snow, where, if not careful, you can get sunburned even in the middle of winter.

No expense has been spared in the creation of this magnificent view log home, less than one mile to Solitude, two miles to Brighton and 45 minutes to Alta and Snowbird. Enjoy a vacation you will never forget in first class accomodations.

Perfect Winter Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED our stay at the Dismans' cabin! My family spent a snowy Thanksgiving holiday enjoying the space, and we could not have asked for a better vacation. Communication with the Dismans and the property's caretaker was quick and easy, as was the check-in and check-out process. The house is beautiful, well-stocked, and in an incredible location: close to skiing and hiking but tucked away, and there's a great trail right up the road! We loved the big family room, the fireplace, and the hot tub, and the beds were more comfortable than our own at home. The one thing we underestimated was how steep the road/driveway to the house is -- it was dumping snow the night we arrived and we couldn't get one of our two 4WD cars all the way up. Cindy did let us know ahead of time that the driveway is tough in the snow. We just happened to get a big storm that evening, and the road was plowed and driveable the next morning. All part of the adventure! We would love to return, and possibly to make this our family Thanksgiving tradition. Thank you, Cindy and Mark!

Exceptionally Clean, Wonderful Location

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home. Well maintained. By far the cleanest home we have ever rented. Wonderful location with ready access to hiking trails. Be sure to buy groceries on the way into the canyon. Very private. Gracious hosts. Our children (ages 7-15) still rave about the house and our time in the mountains.

Great Hiking and Wildlife!

  • 5 of 5

Exactly as advertised. We had a group of 5 couples for our annual gathering. The cabin was just what we were looking for. It was a great base for hiking throughout Big Cottonwood Canyon. A sunrise hike up to Willow Lake from the trail by the house earned us a 3 moose morning (mother and 2 calves). The Brighton Lakes hike included 4 moose. Lots of hummingbirds and assorted wildlife. A great place for summer vacations. We'd love to come back in the winter to ski.

Great family escape in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Disman's cabin in Big Cottonwood Canyon. My immediate family of three, parents from Michigan and brother and his girlfriend from Montana met in Utah for a long ski weekend and we found the cabin to be exactly as advertised and what we were hoping for - clean, plenty of room, well-appointed, quiet and minutes from the slopes. We usually stay in Park City and decided to try Big Cottonwood Canyon this trip. The cabin was a refreshing retreat from the hustle and bustle of Park City. We ordered groceries prior to our arrival and didn't find the need to leave the Canyon once. It was also particularly convenient for us given that we swapped out time on the slopes to stay with home with our 2-year-old. The Dismans were very responsive and we were given all of the information we needed prior to our arrival. We will definitely be back!

Excellent cottonwood canyon lodge

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay at the cabin with a group for our annual ski trip. Its a great location with ample bedrooms, great gathering spaces and kitchen. We tend to just ski during the day and hang out in the cabin at night, relax in the hot tub, and cook a meal. This cabin was perfect for that. Owners and caretaker were easy to work with and flexible. Good location close to amenities and airport. Minutes from Solitude and Brighton and short drive to Alta and Snowbird. Between those areas, no where else you need to ski but Park City is close enough for a day trip as well.

Very convenient to Solitude

  • 5 of 5

Located just outside the gates of Solitude Ski Resort, this home was a perfect mix of privacy and convenience. My family of 5 enjoyed a ski vacation at Solitude over the New Year's weekend and found this home was true to the pictures you will find online, only better. What made this a 5 star review? The kitchen was well equipped. The hot tub was clean, easily accessible and worked well. The game room entertained my 3 kids for hours. Linens and towels were top notch. Home was nicely furnished and very clean. And, we could load our skis and be at Solitude in about 3 minutes. Take it from a picky renter, you will not be disappointed. Note, in the winter you really have to have 4 wheel drive to get to the home due to the packed snow on the road up to the house.
