Luxurious Handcrafted Log Home Minutes to Solitude or Brighton

Bedrooms 5
Space 3,501 sq ft
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 4 - 5 nights

About the property

Chalet, 5 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 11)

The Big Cottonwood Cabin, minutes from Solitude and Brighton ski resorts in the heart of the famous Wasatch Range, and a short drive to Alta and Snowbird, is a unique hand-crafted log home built in 1997 by a Master Craftsman. Furnishings include many original rustic log creations, each one a piece of art. Four bedrooms have queen beds, and the fifth has a bunk bed with full bed on bottom and twin bed on top.

The 3500 square foot cabin is carefully and tastefully decorated with each room having its own special ambiance. Enjoy the great room with its massive riverstone wood burning fireplace, or the game room with its own massive wood burning fireplace and attached full bar, or just relax in the private outdoor six person Jacuzzi.

The Smoke-Free Cabin has magnificent views of Solitude, Silver Fork and Big Cottonwood, and with it's southerly exposure, sunny afternoons will draw you to the exterior deck after a long day of hiking, skiing or just playing in the snow, where, if not careful, you can get sunburned even in the middle of winter.

No expense has been spared in the creation of this magnificent view log home, less than one mile to Solitude, two miles to Brighton and 45 minutes to Alta and Snowbird. Enjoy a vacation you will never forget in first class accomodations.

The home is beautiful on the inside and out!

  • 4 of 5

The home is very cozy! All the bedrooms were very spacious and decorated nicely. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals and seating was plentiful. 11 people fit very comfortably and felt we had space to move around. Beautiful views and actually saw a mother moose and her calf outside the front of the home.

Spacious cabin with breathtaking views!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time staying at this cabin for 5 nights. The views were amazing! One of the mornings, we explored the trail that was right out the front door. It led to a beautiful quiet lake. There was plenty of room in the cabin for 7 adults, very spacious! The property manager is very helpful and easy to reach. We used the oven, dishwasher, television, washer, and dryer while there. Everything worked great!

We went on a hike every morning. There are so many trails nearby. We rode on the Heber Valley Railroad and booked a mystery escape room in Salt Lake. Our favorite activity was cheese tasting at the Heber Valley Artisan Cheese Dairy. They only have this twice a month so we were lucky it was the weekend we were there. One evening, we hired a photographer to take family pictures just a few miles from the cabin. Now we have a permanent reminder of our wonderful vacation at this cabin getaway. The beautiful mountains were a perfect background for our pictures. We definitely recommend staying here and we would love to stay here again!

Big Cottonwood Cabin is a Big Hit !

  • 5 of 5

Everything about our experience at Big Cottonwood Cabin and with the owner and care taker was excellent. The cabin was just as we expected, well appointed, impeccably clean and the location is great. Kathy was always available to answer questions. Thank you for letting us share your property for a brief time .... the memories will be with our family forever.

Amazing house very close to Solitude and Brighton

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 6 guys on our annual ski trip. We always pick a different destination and this is our 6th trip. Our group all agreed that this house was the best of any we have stayed. Loved the hot tub and sauna, and the great room was a perfect size for us to hangout after a day of skiing. The two fireplaces were awesome and were used frequently. We stayed in each night to cook dinner and found the kitchen had everything we needed. The bedrooms were great as were the bathrooms. Highly recommend.

Wonderful winter wonderland

  • 5 of 5

The Disman's home is everything you could want in a winter experience. The log cabin has such a great "feel" and the giant fireplaces are perfect. Lots of space for everyone with all you need throughout the home and in the kitchen. Each walk in and around the cabin revealed something new and exciting. We got almost 2 feet of snow the 5 days we were there so had to break out the snowblower, which worked perfectly. The Views are spectacular and you feel as if you're in a snowbound wonderland. Skied 3 mountains and did some snowshoeing. Having a ski rental shop within walking distance was great. We loved the outdoor hot tub and sauna - - - steamy and comforting!! We went to Park City one day to check it out, and were glad to get back to the solitude and beauty of Big Cottonwood. We stayed over Christmas 2017 - - - The Smith's from Roswell, GA

Snowshoe or ski in the national forest out the front door. Solitude and Brighton ski areas are minutes away. Snowfall averages over 500 inches of the lightest champagne powder in the U.S. Summertime is hiking and mountain biking at its finest and wildflower season is July/August.
