About Dan Duncan, property owner

Dan grew up 7 miles northwest of current home. He is a retired pilot, who flew so he could farm and ranch. Norma just retired (5/2016) after 31 years of teaching. We have lived here 16 years, lived in Montana for 12 years and Las Vegas for 11 years.

Dan Duncan, property owner purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Dan Duncan, property owner chose Colorado

This home was originally built because our son was an officer in the Marine Corps and it was his home when he came home for extended times. He is now located in Cortez, CO. Also, our extended family and friends who come to stay, enjoy the privacy.

We are centrally located to many of the main attractions in Southwest Colorado. The land we are located on have a view of the Sleeping Ute Mountain, the La Plata range, Blue Mountains and Lizzard Head.

Horse boarding facilities are available.

What makes this cabin unique

You will love the view, solitude, and the stars at night.

Guestbook comments from the owner

When we decided to come to SW Colorado for our week vacation we were excited to find this amazing place with such great reviews. All the feedback online and in this book is so true..absolutely 5 stars! Not sure what we could say, that hasn't been said before from the last 4 years...it is all true! Someone said a "slice of heaven", we think this best sums it up for us "city slickers". Appreciate having internet and TV, but for our family the best parts were the sunsets, star-gazing, long walks and watching the storms roll by. We enjoyed grilling at night and passing the time with card games. Mesa Verde is a must see, get your tour tickets (Cliff and Balcony) early here in Cortez at the Welcome Center. Purgatory summer events were great for our kids(12 and 13). Took amazing rod trip to Bluff, Mexican Hat, Monument Valley and 4 Corners in a day, what fun! Hovenweep does not compare to Mesa Verde, but a great place if you love to hike.

Norma and Dan made us feel at home, along with the dogs...the kids loved them and waking up to cows mooing and feeding the horses.

Couldn't have asked for a better place!!!

Thank-you!

Enjoyed Every Moment!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, myself and our two children (13, 12) enjoyed every moment we spent at the cabin. Only a short drive from Cortez (grocery stores, restaurants, fun stores, gas stations), it felt you were alone in the middle of nowhere... which is a good thing! The kids liked having the TV and internet, but it really was the best place to disconnect from the craziness of life! Enjoyed feeding the horses, watching/listening to the cows, talking long walks, hanging out on the balcony to watch sunsets, storms and tons of stars at night! Great place to take amazing pics! Norma and Dan were great to deal with and so very friendly....such great hosts, made us feel at home! The kids enjoyed their three dogs too! Cabin had everything a family would need! Loved the location, central to everything we wanted to see (Mesa Verde, Four Corners, etc.). The 5-star reviews are real, totally agree with all the positive feedback everyone has left. Stay here, you will love it... it does feel like a little slice of heaven!

Beautiful well stocked cabin with great views!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed staying on the Duncan Ranch for 5 days. The cabin was clean and comfortable and stocked with extras. The beds were very comfortable and the living and dining areas had plenty of room for everyone. The Duncans are great people and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. We highly recommend this cabin and hope to stay here again in the future!

The place was SO cozy and welcoming. Very neat and clean.Wonderful place! 5 stars is too low!

  • 5 of 5

Dan and Norma were such great hosts. The cabin has EVERYTHING you might need. They certainly thought of the needs of their guests. I HIGHLY recommend this cabin. It is quiet and secluded in the country, yet close enough to Moab Utah and the San Juan mountains, to get out and ATV, hike or bike. Dan and Norma are SO nice and hospitable. We will be staying with them again on our next trip out west!

Family of five from Ca.

Norma and Dan,

thanks for being such great host on your ranch.

For my fellow travelers.

This is a wonderful place to stay at. Norma and Dan are such great hosts. My three teenagers had their own beds in the loft upstairs, while the wife and I had the bedroom downstairs. Washer and Dryer (a plus with 3 teens) and full kitchen. This is a working ranch and my kids loved it. All though we were gone most of the day, driving to local sights, it was very refreshing to come "home" to the cabin. As we packed up to leave, I mentioned to Dan that it was all "down hill" from here as the hotel chains (Choice, HIE, Marriott) we had booked for the rest of our trip would not compare to his property. Do yourself a favor and book a stay here as you will not regret it.

Thanks Again Dan and Norma.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The Duncan Cabin was such a great place to end each day. The hosts were friendly and helpful, the dogs kept us company on the porch, the cabin was very nice and reasonably priced. Binoculars and telescope were provided. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

Comfy Cozy.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful cabin on a farm. It was quiet, the beds were comfortable and all the amenities were clean and worked well. Dan and Norma were very open and friendly. The sunsets were spectacular as you can see in the reflection of the window. Would love to go back.
