Dan Duncan, property owner purchased this cabin in 2009
This home was originally built because our son was an officer in the Marine Corps and it was his home when he came home for extended times. He is now located in Cortez, CO. Also, our extended family and friends who come to stay, enjoy the privacy.
We are centrally located to many of the main attractions in Southwest Colorado. The land we are located on have a view of the Sleeping Ute Mountain, the La Plata range, Blue Mountains and Lizzard Head.
Horse boarding facilities are available.
You will love the view, solitude, and the stars at night.
Today is a special day--my mother's birthday--she would have been 97 years old! She would have loved this place as we do. Dan and Norma are real people who have provided an unique and special vacation experience.
The cabin is so comfortable and so fully stocked with extras--I felt like I was staying with family!
So, as we pack to leave in the early morning we both feel a bit of sadness as one would leaving family--but we will be back!
We so enjoyed getting to know you and sharing stories! You are great people--hope to see you again.
Cabin worked great for our hunting party, It was clean and well maintained, Dan & Norma went beyond our expectations to make sure we had everything we needed. Also had a chance to meet some of the locals for happy hour in the barn. I've stayed in several VRBO's but never have had the opportunity to meet the Owners and establish a new friendship.
Great views and peaceful setting. Friendly owners made us very welcomed.
Alex and I had a wonderful time - the cabin is so comfortable and has all of the amenities of a home. All you need is just some groceries and you're all set!
The weather was absolutely perfect, and it was so nice being greeted by the dogs in the morning. We also greeted the horses in the afternoon.
We can't wait to be back again - thank you so much, Dan and Norma!
We stayed at this gorgeous home on a farm for two nights and wish we had booked for a week! For the price of a dull hotel room, this "cabin" with all the amenities of a full sized home offers everything stated and more. The view of farmland, horses, cattle and a pond are gorgeous. The sweet smell of hay and the soft mooing of the cows made for a delightful time on the deck to enjoy our morning cup of coffee. We got the makings of a steak dinner and cooked it on the gas grill and ate it as we watched hummingbirds swarmed, as our puppy played with the friendly farm dogs, as our grandson hunted for frogs and as Dan and Norma picked peaches:). The home is outfitted with every possible item needed from hand made quilts to a welcome basket of goodies. Very clean and very quiet. Located in tiny Yellow Jacket, between Mesa Verde and Hovenweep. We can't recommend this home highly enough. You will enjoy your stay!
This home is a nice, clean place in the quiet countryside. It is a wonderful place with very kind hosts. The appliances work great and the sheets, beds and comfort couldn't be better.
Had a great time. Just a short ride to Mesa Verde. Would have loved to spend more time here than we did, two nights was all we had allotted. Very peaceful, enjoyed listening to the cows in the pasture behind the cabin.
Discover the Anasazi culture, McPhee boat and Recreation area. Property lies in hunting area 72 for large game, deer and elk. Four hundred acres of private land available for hunters. Adjacent to area 711, 71 and 73.
