About Dan Duncan, property owner
Dan grew up 7 miles northwest of current home. He is a retired pilot, who flew so he could farm and ranch. Norma retired (5/2016) after 31 years of teaching and now I quilt and try to keep up. We have lived here 18 years, lived in Montana for 12 years and Las Vegas for 11 years.
Dan Duncan, property owner purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why Dan Duncan, property owner chose Yellow Jacket
This home was originally built because our son was an officer in the Marine Corps and it was his home when he came home for extended times. He is now located in Cortez, CO. Also, our extended family and friends who come to stay, enjoy the privacy. We are centrally located to many of the main attractions in Southwest Colorado. The land we are located on have a view of the Sleeping Ute Mountain, the La Plata range, Blue Mountains and Lizzard Head.
What makes this Cabin unique

Wonderful home and host
great place to come back to after exploring the area!
Thank you! Have a safe trip back to San Antonio.
It is very nice. The pictures don't do it justice.
The landowners are friendly people and made you feel very welcome.
Thank you Brandon and Robert for taking the time to write a review. Enjoy your deer!
Absolutely fantastic. It was great to have such a nice "home" to come back to after our outings.
It's a beautiful cabin with everything you could need or want. The balcony was so nice to sit and watch the sunset from. The cattle's gentle mooing was so sweet and relaxing. Geese moving in the morning and evening was nice music and coyotes calling to each other was really cool. We didn't get a chance to meet Dan but Norma was so very nice and helpful. We've already recommended the cabin to a couple of people who are thinking of a vacation in the area. There were 2 of us so we give it 10 stars.
Very Comfortable Cabin
If you are looking for a very warm and comfortable cabin, this is the one for you. I highly recommend this cabin for anyone who is going to stay in the Cortez, Co area. Dan and Norma have provided a wonderful little home. Their farm provides an amazing place to come see the cave dwellings in nearby Mesa Verde National Park or just star gazing during a fall evening on the second story deck.
My family truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for anyone looking for a quiet vacation in the area.
Inspiring views from cozy cabin.
Our third stay at this great farm. Owners have provided a friendly and comfortable stay. Convenient to all activities yet away from noise and hustle of town. Such a peaceful and refreshing stay was enhanced by friendly and fun owners!
Thank you Margaret for taking the time to write the review. We enjoyed your stay. The doctor appt. in Denver went well, next appt. in six months. Have a good fall season!
Great location to access Anasazi Heritage Center, Lowry Pueblo, Hovenweep, Mesa Verde & fly fishing!
Dan and Norma have provided a very comfortable space to relax and feel at home. They are very kind and friendly folks. My husband, Rafael, is in a wheelchair with his service dog, Baloo. The front door and the bedroom door are both level to the concrete patio and sidewalk so entry was incredibly smooth. There is a low tub in the bathroom & transfer was easy. Rafael was able to fully turn around inside the bathroom with some negotiation. The bed might be a little high for someone without much upper body strength but Rafael had no difficulties. He is a T3/4 paraplegic 40 years post injury and uses a folding manual chair. You know it's a great space when it's hard to leave and the dog is whining because he doesn't want to get in the car. We will definitely stay here again as it felt like we could be ourselves...lounging on the patio, drinking a beer, watching the sunsets, & playing catch with a happy dog. Thank you Norma & Dan for sharing your wonderful space and for the shared conversation.
Thank you for you good and very informative review. Have a safe trip back home, enjoy your school year! We enjoyed the conversation we had your last evening here. Thank you!
