Our family gathered here for a winter weekend of fun and this home did not disappoint. We loved everything about it from the decor to the well equipped kitchen, to the gorgeous showers, and to the relaxing hot tub. We’re already planning to stay here again. Special thanks to the owners for being extra kind and courteous.

Amazing 5-Star Property, Exactly as Advertised, No Surprises

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I share an annual Canaan ski trip tradition with two other couples. It really is a time to which we look forward and cherish. We normally stay in the park with the accommodations available there, however, this year we decided to branch out into local rentals. We are so glad that we did.

The house delivers exactly as advertised. It is clean, updated, and beautiful. Many hours of decorating and traveling back and forth have covered the walls and shelves in unique trinkets and oddities which gives every room and every nook its own appeal. Especially appealing to us was the SONOS 'smart house' system with speakers in every room. iPads on each floor control music, lighting, and heating. We love our music and had it playing almost the entire trip.

The kitchen really is the highlight. It is updated with the nicest appliances and plenty large for everyone to move around during mealtime or sit at the bar and have a drink. An attached dining area has a table that can comfortably fit 8.

The living room is complete with a very large flat screen, sound system, and fireplace. We used all three.

As for the bedrooms, the loft room and the master bedroom were all they needed to be. Very uncommon for my group, every person at some point commented on the comfort of the beds and how well they slept. The third bedroom had a bunkbed with a slightly oversized lower bunk. Enough room for two adults in the bottom bunk, but maybe less than ideal for some couples. Obviously, a great option for 2 or 3 children.

The hot tub and porch are great amenities as well. We used the hot tub for an hour or two each night to relax off a long day of skiing. In more comfortable seasons, the back porch would be a great place to spend some time listening to the nearby creek or watching the local deer grazing in the field.

If I had to point my finger at a shortcoming, it would be hard to do. However, the wifi acted up for the entire stay. Normally, I wouldn't find this a problem, but the SONOS entertainment system mentioned above runs through the wifi. When the wifi dropped (at its worst about every 10 minutes) the music goes with it until it powers back up. This was our biggest complaint. We noticed this was worse the more devices we had connected. We also had a few smaller issues at check-in that were resolved almost immediately by the host who told me to 'call him any day at any hour' if I needed help.

A+ host for an A+ house. You will love this house, guaranteed.

What a lovely vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here over the long MLK weekend with our 13-year old daughter. We knew the weather would be cold, but we had no idea just how cold it could get! As it snowed outside, we stayed warm and cozy with a fire inside. The cabin is beautiful with so many interesting things to discover. We even made it outside to explore the creek that runs behind the house - it was frozen on top but still running strong underneath the ice!

The cabin is located a few moments from Timberline, where we attempted to ski.

I think we'd definitely like to come back during warmer months to explore again. The hosts could not have been more accommodating, and I'm so thankful to them for sharing their home with us!

We loved our stay. The home is beautiful and so thoughtfully decorated, with every amenity you could want for a cozy mountain vacation. Plus the owners are so on top of things and only a phone call away.

Fantastic host!

Words cannot begin to describe nor do pictures illustrate just how perfect this home is! We got to meet Jim as we were arriving, and he was so gracious and kind. Actually, we got stuck in the snow about 1/4 mile from the home, and he loaded us up (all 7 of us) and delivered us to his home!! The home has an amazing array of antiques from Jims many travels, and we spent the whole week marveling at his collection that he so generously shares with his guests. The kitchen was equipped with top-of-the-line appliances (Viking) and cookware. We saw many deer and thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub. As this was an "escape from technology" vacation, we did not take full advantage of the home theater system, but we did enjoy the stereo that was wired throughout the home. We will definitely look to return in the future.
