About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4

Come visit Sandpoint, Idaho - voted most beautiful small town by USA Today and Rand McNally. Enjoy our airy and bright apartment that has been remodeled. It has all new appliances and furniture. If you are looking for a Licensed and clean place to stay you've come to the right spot.

We are five blocks from downtown Sandpoint and just a half a block from a wonderful bike/walking path that can take you to explore downtown Sandpoint or Dover.

Our location is great as its a short walk to the City Beach, Sandpoint Marina, great local restaurants, live music, wine bars, and shopping including Coldwater Creek. You may also be interested in outdoor gear shops, and lots of gift and antiques shops. Rental shops for bikes, jet skies and boats are also available within walking distance.

In the summer months beginning in May, enjoy Sandpoint's farmer's market at Farmin Park next to the Jeff Jones Town Square. There you can enjoy live music, local produce and crafts. And lets not forget other summertime favorites in Sandpoint, including Lost in the 50's car show (3rd weekend of May), a hometown 4th of July celebration including parades and variety show at the city beach. The Pend Oreille Arts council hosts the annual Arts and Craft Show in August. You'll also want to check out the music line-up for the Festival at Sandpoint that takes place on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille in August.

Even though most everything in Sandpoint is in within walking distance, Sandpoint has a local bus. There's a stop only about a block away from our apartment, and you can ride the SPOT (Selkirks-Pend Oreille Transit)bus to the Schweitzer base for a ride to the village, stores in Ponderay, and anywhere else you'd want to go around the Sandpoint area.

Excellent choice for in town stay in Sandpoint

  • 5 of 5

The Mountain Gem was a perfect apartment for our Christmas vacation to Sandpoint! Holiday decorations and treats filled the clean, spacious and adorable space. We were very comfortable, cozy and warm during the cold, snowy weather. Elaine and Dan were very helpful and kind....making sure all of our needs were met. We skied everyday and it was great to come back, cook dinner and relax. So much nicer than staying in a hotel and the location was perfect for walking a short distance to town to enjoy all that Sandpoint has to offer. I highly recommend staying at the Mountain Gem and hope to return in the future!!!!

Great stay at the Mountain Gem

  • 5 of 5

This is my 2nd stay at the Mountain Gem. Perfect accommodations for 1 or 2 people just a short walk from downtown Sandpoint.

Everything is here for a perfect stay. Great kitchen, washer/dryer and a whole lot better than a hotel. Very clean and comfortable.

Quiet and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this location near downtown Sandpoint. The unit was very clean, comfortable and updated. All the necessities were there such as air conditioning, WI-FI, cable TV, new appliances, linens, dishes etc. and nothing was cluttered or old. The location was quiet but close to parks and restaurants. We had a great time exploring in beautiful Sandpoint.

Comfort, convenience, cleanliness -- and nice owners!

  • 5 of 5

The Mountain Gem was perfect for our stay in Sandpoint during Festival time -- walking distance to all of downtown, and just 4 blocks walk to the Fairgrounds for concerts!

This property is an unusual situation: It has almost everything you could ask for -- comfort, convenience, quiet, easy access, convenient off-street parking, very clean, recently (and creatively) remodeled, a powerful room A/C more than adequate for warm summer nights, a picnic table and lawn furniture for dining outdoors along with a nice propane BBQ with gas provided gratis, a clothes washer and a dryer with some laundry detergent provided gratis, very pleasant and responsive owners, and an excellent assortment of tools & utensils (Examples: a Keurig machine and also a Mr. Coffee-style drip coffee pot, with some coffee and filters provided gratis; a new dishwasher and also a dishrack with washing gear for hand washing; spatulas and spoons in stainless steel (for steel cookware) and also in nylon (for Teflon pans)). All this comes at a VERY REASONABLE PRICE!

So, what's the catch? This unit is built alongside the owners' insurance business. Kind of like a duplex. In what passes in Sandpoint for a commercially zoned area (Sandpoint is not real progressive when it comes to zoning). The apartment is almost invisible from the front of the building (it faces 90 degrees clockwise from the street front viewing point of the building), and the yard area is pretty private. The street is very quiet by 5PM, and it remains that way (even quieter than a residential neighborhood) until 8AM on weekdays when it comes alive when a neighboring business starts building garden sheds and greenhouses. Don't misunderstand -- the street is nicely mixed with residential and commercial activity, the area is clean and very safe, and the traffic is very light -- it's all pleasant.

In sum, we believe that renters need to approach this unit knowing that everywhere you go in Sandpoint, and everything they do -- hiking, biking, skiing, boating, shopping, dining, whatever -- they will be treated to (and spoiled by) really great views. Is it too much to ask that you don't get that same drama when you view the apartment, or when you look out the windows from the apartment? We consider those things to be a small price to pay for all the benefits that the Mountain Gem provides, as noted above. We heartily recommend it!
