We arrived to the home 4 hours after our allowed check in time. The home was not cleaned. The beds were clearly slept in, there were dirty dishes, and dirty towels in an unstarted washer. I tried contacting Jonathan 3 times through the VRBO app and my husband called twice leaving voicemails. After hours of no response, we sent a message to VRBO. They contacted the host the following day. Unfortunately, that meant we spent the night in dirty beds and unable to shower as there were no clean towels. Jonathan finally called us back late the next morning. He was upset when we asked for a partial refund. I spent the first night cleaning the home and washing towels and dishes. They clothes dryer did not work so even though I washed the towels, they were not able to be used as the were not dry. I spent the morning sweeping and doing dishes. When we told the host this, he said he would not give us a refund because "he has bills to pay and now he has to call and pay a repairman". During the conversation he called my husband "bro" and interrupted us often. He told us to contact VRBO and ask for a full refund. We did, and they said they needed to speak with the host. When they spoke to the host, he said he did not want to refund us. We did get our cleaning fee back, but nothing else. I spent the first night and morning of our vacation working to clean his property.
