About Mary Beth Peddie

We moved to California 12 years ago and explored the state immensely. We have visited Tahoe, Lake Shasta and other areas and never found anything to compare with Bass Lake!We have been vacationing here with our three children for the past ten years. Once we came, we couldn't wait to come back year after year. We finally bought our own cabin this year and hope you will enjoy it as much as we have.

Mary Beth Peddie purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Mary Beth Peddie chose Bass Lake

Our property is within walking distance to the lake and the Pines resort. It is 20 minutes from Yosemite. It is located at the end of a cul de sac and is a private setting but close to lots of activities.

What makes this cabin unique

Living area with wood burning fireplace, pine walls and vaulted ceilings with wood beams. Looks out onto wrap around porch and Sierra national forest. After a day of boating on the lake, relax in the hammock surrounded by tall pines in your own private forest.

comfortable bass lake cabin

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Bass Lake. Communications and instructions with the owner were clear and easy and the house was easy to find and well equipped. Plenty of room for the family. We really enjoyed being close to the lake but also having a quiet retreat off the lake. The deck was great- we enjoyed dinner there under the lights! thank you

I loved it

Very nice and spacious place. My only suggestion is to provide a hair dryer in your home.

Centrally located but still peaceful - great amenities!

This cabin was quite a find. It's walking distance from The Pines market area of Bass Lake, but is the last lot on the road, so the cabin backs into the forest. It's very quiet and peaceful at night, with a BEAUTIFUL new deck that affords a lot of outside entertaining space. You can easily park three cars on a flat area (a rarity for the community, from what I could see). The main living area (kitchen and living room) is very open and spacious, with a powerful swamp cooler which kept the cabin quite comfortable in low 90s weather. I stayed with my husband, two kids (4 and 2), and mother-in-law, and the 3BD / 2BA was perfect.

This is the second cabin I've stayed at in Bass Lake, plus a chalet at The Pines - I definitely recommend choosing this cabin.

My husband and two children rented this cabin for 5 days. While the cabin was fine, and as expected, we feel that there was a bit of false advertising regarding the lake. The cabin’s description says that the lake is 800ft away, which is true. What it fails to mention is that you can’t see or access the lake at 800ft away. In order to access the lake you have to drive a mile or so down the road to the public access spot, which has extremely limited parking.

We would not have rented this cabin had we known this. We have kids who were in the lake all day long, and having to drive back and forth was a definite pain. To us, saying that the lake is only 800ft away implied access.

We voiced our grievance with the owner and basically got ignored, so be warned, if you have a frustration with this rental, it will not be dealt with in a professional manner. We will be finding a different rental next time.

Owner's Response: Hi Carrie, I am glad you felt your stay at our cabin was "as expected" . We work hard to ensure our guests enjoy their stay and have recently added a new redwood deck. patio lights and a fire table for your enjoyment. I am sorry you felt it was a pain to drive your children back in forth to the public beach as they wanted to spend the day in the lake. Our cabin is closer to the lake than many in the area.We never advertised that there was public access to the lake 800 ft from our cabin, however I have updated the description to make this clear. In the future if you would like to book lakefront access , there are many cabins in Bass Lake which have this and I would be happy to recommend them to you. They usually have a dock with deep water however and are rented and a premium as they include a boat slip so not sure that would suit your needs.Thank you for your feedback and good luck on your next vacation rental.

Bass lake cabin

  • 4 of 5

We had a great Christmas at the cabin, very clean and well stocked. Mary Beth was very helpful with any questions I had. Don't know if I missed it but I never saw an address for the cabin, only way I knew I was at the right place was to try the combination on the door. It was pouring down rain and dark when we arrived so we may have missed it.
