Arroyo Seco - Des Montes area- 1/2 mile to Village of Arroyo Seco, 10 miles to Taos Ski Valley, 7 miles to town of Taos

Alto Vallecito - a contemporary custom home on 1.4 acres with expansive unobstructed views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, including its' namesake Vallecito Mountain (12,643’). Conveniently located halfway between the town of Taos and world-famous Taos Ski Valley with a unique design interpretation of “Taos Architecture,” blending a pueblo-style flat roof with a pitched roof creating grand cathedral ceilings in the great room and master bedroom.

The floor plan is ideally suited for 2 couples (with bedrooms/baths on opposite ends of the house) or a single family with children. The kitchen and living/dining areas are essentially one big space made cozy with a wood-burning stove and takes advantage of the grand mountain views via large picture windows. The home is lovingly stocked by the owners with books, movies, entertainment system, a gourmet kitchen, lead crystal wine glasses, and high quality linens/towels. In place of satelitte TV there is a new Roku streaming device hooked up to the TV for guests to sign into their own streaming and TV services like Netflix and others, etc. Enjoy a drink and mountain views from the private outdoor hot tub after taking a short walk to the cute village of Arroyo Seco just 1/2 mile away.

"A regional contemporary hybrid of two common Taos styles, the design blends flat roof and territorial pitches to create a truly unique interpretation of Taos Architecture. The home is positioned to take advantage of the panoramic views of the nearby Taos Mountains and looks beyond to capture the distant peaks of the Truchas Range. Fun Getaway Home and Great Views!

The property was lovely and the view very impressive. It was also super close to Arroyo Seco which is darling! The washer was super stinky and we could not use it, but it was otherwise fabulous!

Great Property

Excellent property, clean, met all of my expectations. A bit challenging to find the first time and the access road would benefit from some smoothing out but was a perfect fit for my family.

The BEST place to stay around Taos

We’ve been coming to this house for years! Beautiful home, beautiful Mountain views, privacy, comfortable beds, spacious kitchen. This place has everything you need and a short drive to town, ski valley, the gorge. Arroy Secco is a short walk down the road with the best places to eat. Our favorites are Sol Food, Taos Cow, and Aceq. Highly recommend this wonderful place.

Ski week in Taos

Lovely home, well appointed with all you need. Everything worked. 2 winter storms and we were plowed out to get out of our very long drive!

Kitchen has everything you need. Washer/dryer provided. Plenty of parking in front of house. The back patio was my favorite place. I enjoyed the rain on the roof as well. The view from the couch is lovely as well. Caretaker Denise Neal was very helpful as were Tanya and Gary in the main office. I’d stay here again in a flash. Premier Properties has always done an outstanding job for me.

Great home, beautiful views!

Stocked with everything you need and very spacious. Property is hard to find at night and cell service is spotty so definitely try to follow the written directions provided at time of rental. Jacuzzi is amazing as well. Just book it.

Arroyo Seco Gem

We loved staying in this great home just outside of the fabulous village of Arroyo Seco. It was ample in size, had a great kitchen/living area, super comfortable beds, and great bath facilities. The view and the outdoor spaces were also a wonderful feature of this property. Waking up to the ringed Mountain Views each day was breathtaking. Everything was as expected and the property manager was on top of everything. Definitely consider this property. We likely will be back!

We were especially happy with the heated floors. Basic supplies (salt, butter, paper towels) were all there, which cuts down on waste. Awesome place!Notes: please change the lightbulbs which are out, and the tv remote needs batteries.

Rise and Shine with Incredible Mountain Views

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Just a few minutes outside the town of Arroyo Secco, this stunning house is a shear delight. The views from the living room and outside deck are more beautiful than pictures can express. Javelina, rabbit, humming birds, and butterflies grace the house and its regional-inspired garden during the summer. Taos Ski Valley is minutes up the road. The owners have a helpful selection of guidebook that help you plan a quick hike or a longer trek. Taos, Taos Pueblo, the Rio Grande Gourge are down the road a bit. Whether you're heading to the Taos Mesa Brewing or a familiar Plaza institution, the drive is quick and easy. A walk to Abe's Cantina for a local treat is a must, and you can burn off the calories from the Taos Cow ice cream on your way back home. This place is a great find and a wonderful vacation home.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed in MANY homes in the Taos area. By far this is our favorite, and we keep returning. It's the perfect distance to walk in the morning to Sol Market for breakfast. It's minutes from Taos proper and the Ski Valley. The house is so private, and it makes you feel like the only people on earth. The home is well-kept and very clean. We will book here again and again. We have one small snafu with the home manager this time, but it was resolved quickly. It's a must-stay for smaller families or two couples. The only change I would make (and I ask this of every VRBO-type home) is that they use a free and clear detergent. The perfumed linens are overbearing and not environmentally friendly.

It was cold and dark - we went outside in our pajamas to look at the stars. We got locked out. no phone, no keys... We had to break a small pane of glass on the front door to get back inside. We were willing to pay. It was a debacle - and were treated like criminals. The real criminal was the property management who automatically debited our card on file with out our permission or knowledge. Grand Larceny.

Our Secret in Taos

We have stayed in this home four times. We visit Taos every summer in July for fly-fishing and have stayed in many, many VRBOs over the years. This one is the best of any we have tried and the reason we always return. The house is perfect for just the two of us. However, if you were staying with another couple or kids, the secondary bedroom is on its own wing - and everyone gets maximum privacy. We enjoy the courtyard every morning and evening for meals. From that vantage point, we have seen hundreds of darling prairie dogs, a fox, a rabbit or three, rainbows, rain on the mountains, and even elk all from the comfort of the private back courtyard. We also enjoy the spa every day and have watched many a sunrise from it. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to make your meals. There are many big grocery stores in town, but also Sol Food 2-3 minutes away for quick items. The beds are comfortable, although we do wish the owners would switch to non-scented detergent for the bedding and towels. We usually have to bring our own due to the intense perfumed detergent used. The home is perfectly located for access to anything. Taos in minutes, the ski valley in minutes, and all the wonderful Arroyo Seco and El Prado restaurants in minutes. The house is private and easy to access, although the driveway needs to be graded quite badly. You will get all the quiet you need here to unplug and disconnect from the world. We will stay again and again!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Well located in a small village not far from Taos proper. Driving to the rental you do drive through some less then desirable lots but a lot of New Mexico is like that. The bones of the home are good with the lay out being nice. However the home needed a good dust up like repainting the walls, fix the washing machine, new throw rugs as the old ones were smelly and new linens as the linens were past their prime. Those are small touches that make a rental memorable in a good way.
