Sea Sparkle: Sunny Village Cottage With Artist Studio And Panoramic Ocean Views

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 - 180 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath, Studio, Sleeps 4-6

Panoramic salt water vistas from every room in this little 2-bedroom home on a winding harbor road. Also, an attached artist shed.

Formerly the home of Gertrude Cook, her kitchen work area has been preserved in tact including spatter painted linoleum floor.

The aroma of many a pie wafted from Gertrude's oven over the cove where her son, Blaine, operated a lobster buying wharf. Her attic has been constructed into an idyllic queen bedroom, new bath, and connecting studio with ocean views. Downstairs there's a cozy bedroom off the living room, with full size bed, desk, bureau and closet. The downstairs bath features tiled floor and an exhilarating rainbow shower. Relax with friends in the living room and farm style kitchen which adjoin with sunshiny warmth and welcoming atmosphere. Wall TV in living room for times when you are not outside walking this seaside road to the village, about a 7 minute stroll, or sketching at the working lobster wharfs minutes away in the other direction.

As part of our rental application we do ask for two references from previous rental companies/agents/homeowners etc.

Long-term renters in our off-season, which is from October 15th through May15th, are responsible for paying all utilities in addition to their lease amounts. We also require background check and references on all long-term guests.

Wonderful Week in Port Clyde

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in Port Clyde at Sea Sparkle Cottage. This was our second time staying at this cottage and the fun 50's seaside feel of the cottage was as crazy as ever. Everyone went the extra mile to assure our stay was perfect. The cottage was clean as a whistle, as usual, and everything we needed was well at hand. We stay at one of the "Perfect Maine" cottages every summer, depending on the number of bedrooms we need. And we come back every year for a reason. I'd mention the manager by name for a special thank you, but VRBO won't let me use any names! You know who you are! Thank you so much again!

Comfortable house. Great Location.

  • 4 of 5

Sea Sparkle served as home base during a week of hiking and sightseeing. The house was well stocked and in great condition. The location is very peaceful (roads in great condition for running). The kitchen table served as an early morning gathering place to drink coffee and watch the boats head out while planning activities for the day - a great, relaxing view! It's an easy walk to the Port Clyde General Store (including diner) for breakfast when cooking breakfast requires too much effort. Catch the early ferry in Port Clyde to Monhegan to hike the island's perimeter - the views will stop you in your tracks! It's a relaxing drive up 73 to Rockport, Camden and beyond. Camden Hills State Park has a huge selection of trails for all levels of hiking abilities and days can easily be spent trying to hike as many as possible. If weather is an issue, the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland is definitely worth the trip. Another cool point of interest is the Fort Knox and Penobscot Narrows Observatory (panoramic views!) as well as Fort Knox itself (Prospect ME) - hours flew by while exploring the recesses of the Fort - awesome!

  • 5 of 5

we stayed here August of 2013 - house was in PERFECT condition! - walking distance to "Town" of Port Clyde (village?) - Peace and quiet, sea breezes, ocean view(harbor) easy drives to lots of other neat coast-line attractions or even a little larger town if desired.

Great Week!
