Escape To The Cool Pines

Sleeps9
Bedrooms 2

Space 1,800 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 8

Looking to get away for the weekend or for a week? This 1800 sq. ft. cabin is nestled among tall Ponderosa Pines, some 100 years old! A taste of paradise is only about an hour and a half drive from Scottsdale.

The cabin is two stories, the main story being on the second

floor. There are two bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed

and the other with two twin beds. Upstairs there is also a

bathroom, family room that has a queen sofa bed and kitchen.

Downstairs there is another family room with another queen futon,

bathroom and laundry room. This is the perfect set up for two

couples or two families as it allows each some privacy. There are

two televisions and DVD players, one in the master bedroom and the

other in the downstairs family room. I have several movies you can borrow. WI-FI is also available.

The deck wraps around the entire second floor so you can

choose to sit in the sun or shade whichever you prefer. There is

a gas BBQ and a hammock you can use. The cabin has three

fireplaces; two wood and one gas. The wood ones are in the

upstairs family room and master bedroom and the gas one is in

the downstairs family room. There is a small fee for wood or you

can bring your own. Don't forget to bring marshmallows to roast!

The cabin sits on an acre and a half of land and backs the

National Forest. It is quite private and quiet. If you walk

into the forest about a quarter of a mile at dusk and you are

quiet and lucky, of course, you could see elk, particularly

in the summer and fall. I have seen up to 20 at a time! At the

very least, you are certain to hear bugling in the middle of the

night if you wake up.

I have a book there that gives you all kinds of ideas as to what

to do; hikes, fishing, swimming holes, restaurants, shops, etc.

Everything you need is there. All you need to bring is your

clothes and food.

About Rhonda Buck

Stoney Hollow is my favorite place in the world. There is just something special about being there. It might be the tall pines and listening to the wind in the trees, or backing the National Forest, or feeding the squirrels, woodpeckers, hummingbirds or deer. I just know that I need to get away there every so often to rejuvenate. When you stay at Stoney Hollow you will realize that you are staying in my home and not a hotel. It is friendly, rustic and inviting. Welcome and enjoy!

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Watching our dogs play in the snow like they were deer...super close to Bandits restaurant and Payson shopping! We will rent again:)

Great get-a-way!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful cabin in the woods! Clean and well cared for with everything you could need. Close to the local grocery store but still tucked away in the pines. Beautiful surroundings and a great spot to hike behind the cabin. It’s a great set up for families and a very comfortable space. Our older dog loved the outdoor view on the second floor, although the spiral staircase to the lower level was a challenge. Pine is a great little town with some great lunch and dinner spots. We had a great time. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home Rhonda!

Very relaxing weekend

  • 5 of 5

Had a great three day weekend with my family. Saw many elk, deer, and squirrels. The property backs up to the national forest. We went for a short hike up to a large field and saw about half a dozen elk wandering around. We really enjoyed the fireplace and sat next to it and played games each night. Would definitely recommend the home. Thanks again Rhonda!

Great escape!

  • 5 of 5

We loved Stoney Hollow. Beautiful location backing up to the forest makes you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Saw elk and deer right from the wrap around porch which was a great addition. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Great location and a quick escape from the Phoenix area. Thanks for sharing your home Rhonda!

Good

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is very cute and has everything you need. We loved the wrap around deck. Even though we were in a "neighborhood" the cabin was very private. The area is beautiful.

On the downside, the cabin could have been a little cleaner. Sticky stuff on the kitchen floor, hair on the furniture, living room rug and bathroom rugs, (I shook them off myself, and I scrubbed kitchen floor).

Overall, it was a good place to stay for the price.

Owner's Response: I appreciate your review. It helps me a lot. I try to clean the cabin myself as much as possible but when I can't or have a quick turn around I hire someone. You checked in on a Sunday afternoon and someone checked out that morning so I had it cleaned by someone else. I have never had a concern before so there must not have been enough time in between. Live and learn for next time. Sorry but thanks for your honesty.
