Looking to get away for the weekend or for a week? This 1800 sq. ft. cabin is nestled among tall Ponderosa Pines, some 100 years old! A taste of paradise is only about an hour and a half drive from Scottsdale.
The cabin is two stories, the main story being on the second
floor. There are two bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed
and the other with two twin beds. Upstairs there is also a
bathroom, family room that has a queen sofa bed and kitchen.
Downstairs there is another family room with another queen futon,
bathroom and laundry room. This is the perfect set up for two
couples or two families as it allows each some privacy. There are
two televisions and DVD players, one in the master bedroom and the
other in the downstairs family room. I have several movies you can borrow.
The deck wraps around the entire second floor so you can
choose to sit in the sun or shade whichever you prefer. There is
a gas BBQ and a hammock you can use. The cabin has three
fireplaces; two wood and one gas. The wood ones are in the
upstairs family room and master bedroom and the gas one is in
the downstairs family room. There is a small fee for wood or you
can bring your own. Don't forget to bring marshmallows to roast!
The cabin sits on an acre and a half of land and backs the
National Forest. It is quite private and quiet. If you walk
into the forest about a quarter of a mile at dusk and you are
quiet and lucky, of course, you could see elk, particularly
in the summer and fall. I have seen up to 20 at a time! At the
very least, you are certain to hear bugling in the middle of the
night if you wake up.
I have a book there that gives you all kinds of ideas as to what
to do; hikes, fishing, swimming holes, restaurants, shops, etc.
Everything you need is there. All you need to bring is your
clothes and food.
Stoney Hollow is my favorite place in the world. There is just something special about being there. It might be the tall pines and listening to the wind in the trees, or backing the National Forest, or feeding the squirrels, woodpeckers, hummingbirds or deer. I just know that I need to get away there every so often to rejuvenate. When you stay at Stoney Hollow you will realize that you are staying in my home and not a hotel. It is friendly, rustic and inviting. Welcome and enjoy!
Rhonda Buck purchased this cabin in 1996
I was upset there was a steep spiral stair case to the downstairs. Its dangerous for animals and small children. Other than that it was a great stay.
The place was nicely located in a convenient but secluded area. It's supplied everything we needed as far as utensils and such in the kitchen. Sleeping arrangements was great for four people. Fireplace downstairs was a bit confusing in the directions but we figured it out. Overall is a good place to stay would recommend others. We saw wild life every day early in the morning and fed the squirrels and birds with the corn. Thank you!!
We had a great time. Close to, but not to close to anything you need. The wildlife is great, especially the funny squirrel's!! We laughed so hard watching them to come get peanuts from the feeder!! Great idea!! Memories made for sure!! Plan to visit again when we can!!
We loved our stay at Rhonda's cabin! Not only could we bring our pups, the cabin was clean, had everything we needed for a comfortable and memorable stay. Special touches like peanuts for the birds and squirrels and chocolates for the humans!! In addition, we left a very expensive item in the cabin and didn't realize it until we got back to Peoria. Rhonda worked quickly to help us retrieve our item and was absolutely great about it. First class customer service. Will stay again unless we buy our own cabin first!!! ;-) Thanks so much, Rhonda!

We had a relaxing visit with my parents that were visiting from Illinois. We were able to do some light hiking in the meadow behind the house. Everything is well taken care of and comfortable. And an added bonus for us was being able to bring our dogs. We have stayed here twice and we are looking forward to coming again.
My husband and I spent a weekend at Rhonda's house. We absolutely loved it. Loved that it was set back off the road a bit so it really felt secluded. The wrap around porch was the perfect place to drink coffee and listen to the elk bugling. We saw so many different types of birds and lots of squirrels. The house is very clean, cozy and inviting. House was stocked with everything you needed. Was nice that she had steps in the back to get over the barb wired fence so you could walk out in the forest. We will definitely be back!
Tonto Natural Bridge State Park is 5 minutes away. Mogollon Rim with additional views, hiking and fishing is approximately 15 - 20 minutes away.
