Overview

About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 11-14)

This 4000 square foot home sits on the Yellowstone River in the true heart of the aptly named Paradise Valley, right along the “Miracle Mile” between Mill Creek and Pine Creek. There are truly no better views of Paradise Valley than those enjoyed from this home. Even old time native Montanans rave about the views from the backyard. A quick 30-minute drive to Yellowstone National Park to the south, or 15 minutes to the genuine small-town feel of Livingston to the north.

Five bedrooms and four baths await you, but the living space is done no justice by such a simple description. The huge master (over 500 square feet, with king bed) has a spacious sitting area with a pair of indoor chaise lounges to enjoy that book and the views away from the kids, but still able to view them playing in the gorgeously grassy backyard.

The two remaining upstairs bedrooms, both decorated with brand new furniture suites, are both appointed with queen beds, and colorful, European bedding. These two bedrooms share a full bath loaded with such nice touches as ample, new, plush towels and a few toiletries to make you feel at home immediately.

The fully-finished downstairs has yet another newly-furnished bedroom, with queen bed and Swedish-country styling. A short walk away is the gigantic “bunkroom,” featuring three double beds, individual nightstands, and its own sitting area with sofa and loveseat.

To make sure every beautiful Montana day is followed by a great night’s sleep, all the home’s mattresses are brand-new Sealy Posturpedic; each topped by a fluffy down comforter.

[Here's a clarification of our maximum occupancy: if the group is all adults, the maximum occupancy is 11. Green Acres Lodge may accommodate up to 14 total people, but only if 6 of them are children small enough (and willing enough!) to share the 3 full-size beds found in the bunkroom. These limits assure your comfort...]

So you feel that you “lose your own space” while on vacation? Well, no worries here! There are huge living areas on both floors!

Upstairs is a large living area with commanding, breath-taking views of the Yellowstone River and the 12,000 foot Absaroka Mountains. And for your after-dark entertainment, there is a TV with Dish Network 250, a DVR, VCR, and DVD; as well as a component stereo with CD and cassette player. A massive stone wood-burning fireplace completes the area.

Like to eat some meals more casually, and others more formally? Or perhaps separate the kids from the adults? No problem! A dining room area, complete with new, Swedish contemporary dining suite to seat ten and an equally new Swedish country breakfast nook table to seat six flank the upstairs kitchen. Fully stocked with 22 sets of dishes, multiple glassware styles, and flatware, the kitchen shows that we keep our renters in mind.

A stocked spice cupboard, specialty cooking tools, multiple pots and pans, and knives that actually cut can make your in-home meals fun. And everything from placements to cloth napkins and napkin rings to glass candlesticks mean a romantic meal is well within reach, despite being in the heart of Yellowstone Country.

Prefer to cook outdoors? There’s also an oversized gas barbecue grill on the deck with a table to enjoy a dinner or drinks with the ultimate view.

But wait, there’s more!

Downstairs is a second living area, complete with a second satellite TV and VCR, and two full-size couches for extra space to “get away”. But what’s that behind one of those sofas? A dartboard! And beyond? A pool table, with plenty of seating (from comfy wingbacks, to “ready-for-my-next-shot” upholstered stools) for participants and spectators alike.

While the thought of you spending a single minute attending to business makes us want to rescue you, we recognize that communications continuity is sometimes a necessity, even while in Paradise. We offer free domestic long distance calls on our house phone, and unlimited high-speed internet access (wired in one upstairs bedroom, wireless throughout the house).

An extensive professional landscape surrounds the home, with 10,000 square feet of luxurious sod to take that nap while listening to the river. A regulation horseshoe pit provides old-time fun while you take in the views.

We know the little things can really make a difference...so, there's two coolers and two daypacks for your excusions, bincoculars for your deck-viewing of bald eagles and such, a popcorn popper for staying in, a VHS library, simple games and toys for the little ones, and books to read--from fiction to local area lore and guides, to literature.

Walk right down to the river to fish... some of the best fishing on the Yellowstone is right from this home (JT has personally caught 15 trout in an hour here).

Yellowstone National Park is only a 30-minute drive away, short enough for day trips, so you can enjoy your home away from home every evening... it stays light until 10:30 pm here in the summer!

Located five miles from world-famous Chico Hot Springs with live music every weekend and the best restaurant in all of Montana. Head 15 miles into historic Livingston with art galleries and restaurants galore. Plenty of skiing is within reach: Big Sky is 70 minutes away, and Bridger Bowl is only 50.

About JT Theobald

JT and I are from Florida and Texas respectively, but we are firmly rooted in Montana. We feel so very fortunate to have a place in the aptly named Paradise Valley, Montana. We like nothing better than being at our home during the summer months with fishing, hiking, Yellowstone Park and The Yellowstone River...right out our doorstep. With long days to savor all the activities and perfect evenings on the River to rejuvenate your soul for the next day, there really is nowhere else we'd rather be!

JT Theobald purchased this house in 2003

Why JT Theobald chose Yellowstone Country

This location seems just about perfect. Close to the charming towns of Bozeman and Livingston, yet set in a very private setting right on the Yellostone River. While it is a short 30 minute drive to Yellowstone National Park, you'll spend most of your time at the home which is in the very best part of Paradise Valley (which is the first 15 miles South of the town of Livingston). The home is also very close to Chico Hot Springs, a long time Montana tradition for their water, food, drink and activities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wow! What a perfect location, beautiful--no, breathtaking!--views, serene, and quiet. The house itself is wonderfully equipped with all that we could dream of needing. You really feel at home and feel very welcomed. JT stopped by to say hello a couple of times and helped us with information when we needed it. The whole process, from beginning to end, has been smooth and easy. JT & Babs have been wonderful hosts and we really feel they put themselves in a renter's shoes when thinking about the layout, amenities and instructions provided. Though we had to work during our trip (and the wifi connection was great!), we were able to get out to Yellowstone, go on a wonderful family float down the river and go white water rafting. We highly recommend Paradise Rafting company--Sarah was great!! We enjoyed the river beach immensely, tried some fishing and spent lots of time in the hot tub.

Thank you JT & Babs for a wonderful week!!

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

My spouse and I have stayed in many VRBO's over the years. JT's place is amazing, and the best VRBO I've ever stayed in. We travelled together with 2 other families with children aged 11 through 13 (11 total). The house has the perfect layout for a gathering of this type. The kids had their own downstairs area to hangout, and the sound was contained without spilling over to the upstairs. The adults had their area to relax, with the additional beautiful outside sitting area with mountains in the background. Group adult and kid gathering was easy as well with ample space for family/group meals. The house was beautifully furnished, and the kitchen was more than well stocked-- I felt like we were truly in a home. One of our party tried out fishing in the Yellowstone river in back of the house-- success! The house was well situated for easy travel to Yellowstone and the surrounding areas. We very much enjoyed our stay. Thanks JT!

Great experience!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Green Acres surpassed our expectations. A beautiful home in Paradise Valley which allowed our family to relax and thoroughly enjoy our family reunion and vacation. We enjoyed Yellowstone, rafting, fishing, and horseback riding while still coming back to Green Acres in the evening for dinners and family time. JT was great to make sure we were comfortable and informed. We had a gear vacation!!!!

  • 5 of 5

I have been renting VRBO homes for 5 years and this is far and away the best home we have rented. Every detail was thought of...and it made our vacation totally stress free. JT...thanks again for having me and my family as guests in your home. We look forward to seeing you next year.

Awesome vacation getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We have a family of 6 adults and 5 grandchildren. We wanted to do something different this year, so we decided to go to Yellowstone. We went through VRBO and found the perfect place; Green Acres! This was the very best vacation home we have ever stayed. We stayed there in July. We rented a 12 passenger van and traveled all the way from Salt Lake City, to Jackson Hole, saw the Grand Tetons and drove through Yellowstone on our way to Green Acres. By the time we reached our destination, it was midnight. We were pretty tired but when we arrived at Green Acres, we were not disappointed. The house had every amenity you can imagine and had every thing we needed, including linens and towels and the beds were already made for us. Every drawer in the kitchen was labeled so we didn't have to do much searching for the things we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the kids loved sleeping downstairs in the bunk room. There was plenty of room to roam for everyone. The river and mountain view was incredible. The picture does not do it justice. We saw Deer almost every morning. Once a deer peeped inside our window. Yellowstone was only 30 mins. away, so we were able to go as often as we liked. We also did some fishing on the Yellowstone River a couple of times. The kids really enjoyed this activity. One day we went on a rafting trip down the Yellowstone which was such a memorable time for us all. We ate breakfast and had our cup of coffee, enjoyed the view on the deck nearly every morning; then we would pack a picnic lunch and hit the road to Yellowstone to animal watch. I would recommend Green Acres to anyone. We all agree that this has been the best family vacation we ever had! JT thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful home.

Truly Paradise in Paradise Valley!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and family have enjoyed this vacation rental many times (5 to be exact) and it's a gem. The house is well-appointed and comfortable. The views and location are extraordinary. JT, the owner, was always ready to accomodate our needs and provide helpful tips on restaurants and activities in the area. We have travelled and rented via vrbo numerous times and this is our favorite! It's also perfect for family reunions, with plenty of bedrooms, sitting areas, hot tub, fishing on the river, and nearby scenic drives and walks. We love Matt's Butcher Shop for wonderful meat and sandwiches, the Stockman for burgers, and the Livingston Bar and Grill for great beef and salmon. We highly recommend Green Acres and hope to get back again.

Fantastic home

  • 5 of 5

The views from here are amazing. Every morning and evening was spent on the back porch, drinking in the magnificent panorama of the Absarokas just a few miles across the valley. The house has everything anyone could expect. I have rented more than ten different homes via VRBO, and can confidently say this is the best. The owners, JT and Babs, were very responsive to the two small issues that arose during the week and all was handled smoothly and quickly. Access to fishing, hiking and the park is excellent. Our highest recommendation!
