About the property

Sumptuous relaxation and fun with space for everyone!

Custom built log cabin with over 5,700 square feet of luxurious comfort. From the high log beam ceilings to the grand windows, your eyes will be delighted with the beauty that surrounds you. Our home is 3 stories, with the two upper stories open to our guests. The basement is reserved for the owners when they come to stay but is always vacant while guests are at the lodge. The two upper stories have wood burning fire places for those chilly mornings or cozy evenings. Two bedrooms with King sized beds are on the lower level, each with their own full bathroom. Two additional bedrooms with Queen sized beds along with the game room with two twin beds and the master loft with a double bed are upstairs and share a full bathroom. The upstairs TV room has a very comfortable air-spring hide a bed and the game room has a queen air bed. Four decks wrap the different levels of the home allowing most rooms access to the outdoors. We have many seating areas on the decks with comfortable chairs and tables. The roof look-out deck is one of our favorite places to escape for a glass of wine or game of cards.

Our kitchen is large enough for the entire family to take part in making meals and creating memories. The large dining table and ample seating at the bar allows everyone to dine together.

The home is on a sleepy lane with a gorgeous meadow full of wild flowers across the street. It is perfect for a morning walk or bike ride with the kids.

You will find all kinds of beautiful wildlife in the woods surrounding the house.

Lake McCumber is just 5 minutes from our home, and Lassen Volcanic Park just 10 minutes away. This is the perfect location for outdoor adventures, family reunions or get away retreats!

We need to honor our neighbors and their families. Guests will be charged a fee for disrupting the neighbors.

About Heidi

The gorgeous Lassen Lodge is shared by three families. The men have been best friends and fishing and hunting buddies for decades. We purchased the home as a place our families could go for retreats and celebrations and decided to share it with the rest of the world.

Heidi purchased this lodge in 2012

Why Heidi chose Shingletown

The Lassen area is so stunning with it's natural beauty, hiking trails, snowmobiling access and fishing abundance. We live in Redding and enjoy the higher elevation for cooler weather in the Summer and snow in the Winter. We have decorated the home with special items and furniture from each of our families to bring a warm welcome to our guests and friends.

What makes this lodge unique

Luxury abounds in every detail of this home. Many of the sinks are gorgeous hammered copper. Radiant floor heating creates a natural, very comfortable temperature control. The star gazing lookout on the roof is a special place to relax with hot cocoa or a glass of wine.

Guestbook comments from the manager

What a blessing to behold! Every inch of this beautiful castle in the pines is exquisitely decorated, and comfort abounds! Our family has two wheel chair bound adults and it is difficult to find vacation rentals that are handicap accessible. Your home fit our every need with the spacious rooms, wide door ways and wheelchair ramp to the front door, especially the roll in shower! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home! We will look forward to returning soon.

The pristine Lassen Volcanic National Park is just minutes from your door step. Any time of year the park is stunning. Snow shoeing around Manzanita Lake during the Winter is one of our favorite activities. Hiking, fishing, picnicking, bird watching and exploring all corners of the exquisite park is enjoyable for all ages.

Battle creek reservoir is amazing for fishing in Summer or ice fishing in the Winter months. Lake McCumber is 5 minutes from our door step and is peaceful for canoeing or fishing.

We have a great fire pit in the back yard for roasting marshmallows, singing songs and telling tall tales! The Lassen Lodge is nestled in a grove of trees and is very well insulated. The lodge is not equipped with an air conditioner because most days of the year it is not necessary. There are a few days in the summer months that the lodge may get to the mid 70’s inside. We use the whole house fan twice a day to drop the internal temperature and then close the windows. The switch for the whole house fan is labeled and located by the light switches in the game room on the top floor of the lodge. First thing in the morning, open a screened window in 4 different regions of the lodge and turn on the fan. After a 15-20 minute run, or until you are satisfied with the cooler temperature, turn off the fan and close the windows. The lodge should stay close to that temperature the remainder of the day. After it cools in the evening, repeat the process and the house will cool again.

Definitely recommended!!

This is THE CABIN to spend a weekend! Everything was tidy and kept well for us to stay in. All the rooms were luxorious and the kitchen was a blast to cook in. Pool room was fun to hang out in and so was the living room both upstairs and down. Pantry had almost everything we needed plus the added bonus of hot chocolate if we wanted some! Bathrooms made us felt like we were in a 5 star lodge and the view was awesome every morning. Heidi was an awesome host because she was able to help us with whatever we needed with a simple phonecall. Our group left some items behind and she was more than helpful retrieving and mailing it back to us ASAP. Thank you Heidi!! Can't wait to come back!!

Peaceful Woodland Lodge

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our reunion at Lessen Lodge. The great room was perfect for having the whole family together. The kitchen was well laid out and the cookware was unusually generous. Many thoughtful touches like spices, flashlight. Local deer were a treat. Some feedback for improvement: the primary refrigerator needs to be colder (food safety) and the infuriatingly squeaky dryer definitely needs attention!

Gorgeous house!

  • 4 of 5

The Lassen Lodge is a gorgeous, luxury home with plenty of space, comfortable beds & high end finishes. We loved cooking in the kitchen, stargazing from the roof and roasting s'mores at the fire pit. The only downsides were that the internet was very unreliable and that the three bathrooms are placed in a way that makes them hard to share. Many of us stayed upstairs, where there is only one bathroom to share. We still had a great time & would definitely consider staying here again!

Love this home away from home!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second family vacation at this amazing home! We especially appreciate the beautiful and well-stocked kitchen. It is easy to prepare meals for all 14 of us in this large kitchen. This beautiful home in the mountains has plenty of space for everyone whether we are spending time all together or searching out a quiet spot to read, rest or even meditate. Another nice feature is its close proximity to Lassen National Forest and all the trails, lakes and activities the park has to offer. Heidi is quick to respond to any questions or needs we have as guests. Who could ask for more! We can't wait for our next stay!

Super lodge with lots of space

  • 5 of 5

Great lodge in a secluded area close to the entrance of Lassen Volcanic NP.

Our young family stayed here for 3 nights with our friends (another young family) and we loved the space. We had family meals, read books, played cards and pool, and let the kids watch some DVDs... after we had returned from some local adventures around Lassen. The lodge was well located for trips to the NP (stunning), Lassen forest and the lava tubes at Old Station.

The lodge was well equipped for all our needs, with lots of helpful information about using the lodge as well as exploring the area.

We loved staying here and aim to come back one day. Thanks Heidi :)

The big log cabin in the woods was the perfect place for our family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted with the Lassen Lodge! Our group of 11 adults and two small children had so much fun in this huge house. Beds for all, and a kitchen big enough for multiple cooks at mealtimes. The kitchen was impressive in both size and organization. In fact the whole place was impressively clean, well stocked and organized, and we never felt the need to run to the store for supplies which left more time to enjoy ourselves.

If you wanted a little respite from the crowd, the multiple decks provided room for that. At night, the top deck was perfect for star gazing. The pool table was an extra added attraction and the kids loved the little juke box.

The home is attractively decorated and very handsome. There's a lot of attention to detail and nothing was broken or neglected.

We had so much fun for our six night stay. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to host a large group in a beautiful and uncrowded corner of California.
