About Bob Berman

We have been vacationing in Lewes for twenty years and love the area. Our children consider Lewes their second home.

Bob Berman purchased this house in 2012

Why Bob Berman chose Delaware

We were drawn by the incredible lake views and sense of seclusion and peacefulness that this property offers.

What makes this house unique

To be so close to beaches, shopping, restaurants and town yet sitting on the deck watching the great blue herons fly past.

Wonderful Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This house comes highly recommended, Bob is a great host, very easy to work with and obviously wants his guests to have a wonderful vacation. The house itself is a gem with a gas stove and grill we created many tasty creations. Check out Lewes Seafood house for ready to cook crab cakes. The enclosed spacious yard with beautiful gardens made relaxing at the home way too easy. We kayaked, canoed, fished, roasted s'mores and played corn hole. The bass were striking. We even caught an eel. If you seek an adventure but want the natural beach without the expensive boardwalk check out Cape Henlopen and Lewes Beach. For a low cost fun day we went to lunch at On the Rocks at the Lewes Ferry, played free mini-golf and enjoyed their little arcade. You can park there for free and ride bikes or walk to Cape Henlopen. The eco tour at the water taxi in Lewes was also fun. Bob was so easy to work with and really wants each of his guests to have a wonderful experience. My dad who is 75 and not in the best of health enjoyed the 1st floor bedroom that overlooks the lake with its own door leading to the deck. The first floor even has a little kitchenette which was great for his snacks and morning coffee. We even got him in the canoe for a morning fishing excursion. We used the public access boat ramp right up the road for an easier exit strategy which worked great. The younger generation brought a car and then paddled back to the dock. Lots to see and do and so close to everything. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This property is beautiful, exactly how described and more! Bob is a fantastic owner, making the entire experience so convenient! The home had plenty of room for our crew of 7 and our two dogs who loved the huge fenced I yard! We enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the Pond, kayaking, canoeing, fishing from the dock, preparing meals in the kitchen full of tools just like home! This home was so convenient to the beaches and restaurants! We could not have had a better time in Delaware!

Perfect Description!

  • 5 of 5

Everything listed in the description and all the reviews absolutely true! The house is decorated so nice, loved the style of decorating, the kitchen is large allowing the family to assist with food prep and clean up. The bathrooms are also a nice size and beautiful.

The AC did a fantastic job during an extremely hot week. The gas grill on the wrap around deck was wonderful. Also loved the gas range in the kitchen-top of the line! Beautiful hardwood floors, loved the flooring in the kitchen. Very convenient that sheets were provided and beautiful cotton bedspreads. The flowers and gardens were stunning!

So peaceful sitting on the deck watching the turtles, birds, and herons. Enjoyed the quiet reading time and daily bike rides through the neighborhood. We love the Delaware beaches and have been coming yearly for 30+ years. This was different than our usual trip, staying in Rehoboth. We loved the peace and quiet, beautiful home, property, lake, neighborhood and short drive to Lewes and Rehoboth a few times. I'm looking forward to trying it in the fall, when the leaves change color!

So nice we been here thrice!

  • 5 of 5

This is my family's third stay at this tranquil retreat. The house is amazing! It has all the comforts of home and even though it is only four miles from outlet shopping, it feels like you are in a secluded mountain resort! The house is beautifully furnished and very comfortable. It is equipped with everything you need! The best part? The grounds are simply stunning! The English gardens are amazing! It adds to the ambience! We spent hours trying to identify the flowers and plants! The view of the lake in unobstructed and it is so relaxing to hang on the deck and decompress. My family loves it so much we are already planning our 2017 trip! One more note, Bob and Molly are the best hosts! We have used home away for other domestic and international trips and without a doubt, Bob and Molly are our favorite owners!

Wonderful retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely weekend at Bob and Molly’s house in May 2016. Our grandkids and our dog had so much fun running around in the beautiful fenced in yard. We loved the house and all the amenities it provided. The bedrooms were a nice size, beds were comfortable, and the sheets were clean and fresh. The house was so open and provided views of the lake from all angles. The kitchen was large and well stocked with tools and appliances. There was plenty of seating for all 8 of us in the dining area. Furniture and décor were eclectic and intriguing; we loved all the little touches of natural soaps in the bathrooms and kitchen. Bathrooms had nice large tubs with subway tiles and plenty of counter space and storage.

We did not get a chance to boat on the lake, but hopefully we will be returning someday and be able to use them next time. Our whole family loved the house and we had such a good time. Lewes is one of our favorite small towns, and we had fun walking around, shopping, and eating at Jerry’s Seafood (best crab cakes I ever had). We all felt so at home at the house and in the surrounding area. Just a comfortable, small development with friendly people waving as they went by, and quiet at nighttime. Such a peaceful and tranquil place to visit. I highly recommend this house! You won’t want to leave!

Relaxing Lake Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is located in a housing development that surrounds Red Mill Pond, but you'd never know it. We barely heard a peep from the neighbors during our stay, and the trees and gardens surrounding the house offered a lot of privacy as well as beauty. A huge side yard with a fire pit, gazebo and gardens offered plenty of room for the kids to run and explore. We had most of our breakfasts on the deck overlooking the lake, and my husband and I loved drinking our morning coffee there and watching our sons kayak. There are four kayaks and one canoe. We used them all every day, and enjoyed exploring the lake and looking at all the properties on its shores. One of our boys also made use of a bike from the shed on our first day there, and we pulled from the ample supply of firewood on the property to build camp fires. The trips into Lewes or out to Route 1 for groceries or a bit of beach time were quick and easy. If you want to get out and do things, you'll find plenty of restaurants, hiking, beaches, and shopping within just a couple of miles.

Inside the cottage, we instantly felt at home. The kitchen and bathrooms were very clean, and the linens on all the beds were fresh. Our three children had fun choosing their bedrooms, and my husband and I loved the master bedroom and bath in the loft. Other than needing to be careful not to put hot items directly on the dining room table, the place a had an air of unfussy, easy lakeside living. (And don't get me wrong, the table was great--it's huge and seated our family of five and two more dinner guests comfortably. With the oil cloth on, my kids could spread out and paint and puzzle there, too.) Because no one wanted to leave our retreat even for a dinner out, we cooked a lot during our stay. The kitchen was fully equipped with anything one could possibly need, including a ton of beautiful dishes, quality pans, and plenty of trays and serving dishes. The stainless steel appliances were top notch, and the gas grill on the porch worked fine. There were several televisions scattered around the cottage, but we never used them. We had more fun playing board games, relaxing in the two great soaking tubs, and making use of the lake and yard.

The only bad thing about our stay was having to leave. We certainly hope to return, and we're particularly curious to see what a stay during the summer would be like.

Enjoy kayaking, fishing and canoeing on Red Mill Pond. Abundant bird watching on migration route. We are minutes away from Prime Hook nature preserve.

Close to beaches and shopping and restaurants in Lewes and near Rehoboth boardwalk and entertainment. We are also near Milton with Doghead Fish Brewery and close to outlet shopping and less than an hour to Dover Downs.

A big plus for dog owners are the nearby Cape Henlopen beaches with one beach that allows dogs.
