Optimum comfort - ACs in both bedrooms and another for the first floor ensures climate control. Room darkening drapes provide privacy in all rooms.

Large backyard and deck where large trees provide adequate shade. The townhouse can accommodate up to 6 people with two queen beds in the bedrooms and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. High speed internet, premium cable TV (HBO), and Netflix is provided.

Dogs are permitted for a small fee as long as they are well behaved - please reach out beforehand, but we love dogs!

The owners was easy enough to deal with and the location was great but the description is not accurate. There is no washer dryer and the fence is broken so no fences in yard. I would say the house was worn, a table leg fell out, the sprayer was broken, the bathtub needs to be caulked among other things. What bothered me most was there were locks on the outside of the bedroom doors so you could be locked into your room.

Portland Weekend

The property was easy to access. It had a full kitchen, dining room, and nice-sized shaded backyard. It is in a quiet neighborhood. It was a nice crash pad for a getaway weekend.

Good experience. Property was clean. It gave our family of 4 plenty of space

Great location. Appreciated Jason’s tips about Portland. If you are willing to eat meals at home, staying here will save money on food. Only minor hassle was street parking, but that was ver minor. I recommend this place.

good place and location, about a mile walk to downtown area. Portland is a great city to visit with lots of areas to explore, good food and shops. Suggest could use a few more items in the kitchen for cooking and eating - wine glasses, pot to cook lobsters with the crackers since it is the local specialty ... Otherwise good spot to rent

Wasn’t clean. Ran out of TP. Requested more but didn’t get any. So had to buy some. Need curtains on the windows. Would be nice to have something to put the luggage on in the rooms so not having to get things off the floor. With one bathroom it would be nice to have more mirrors to use when getting ready.

Great Location

We loved the house but some essentials were missing. No kitchen glasses and no washcloths. Didn’t realize we shared backyard with neighbors but they were lovely.

All kitchen glasses have been updated - we had a guest "remove" some of them hence the issue. Regarding the backyard, it's clearly stated in the property description that the backyard is shared with my long term tenant, who are lovely by the way and rarely home. Hope to see you again, cheers!

Nice night in Portland

We enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It is up a short flight of stairs with more stairs up to the bedrooms. There have been some fresh renovations but maybe more to come. It is a rustic home, original hardwood floors, squeaky doors. Bathroom is in good Shae. Beds were very comfortable and internet and Netflix were perfect. We loved the location and could walk to restaurants and bars. Jason the host was very helpful when we wanted to get checked in a few minutes early to drop off luggage.

Great place to stay (in the summer)

This house was 90% as advertised (no actual access to washer/dryer or street parking, despite that being in the listing) and would have been ideal for a long weekend, were it not for a snowstorm. Despite repeated attempts, we got no response from the host and no help navigating Portland's parking ban, which resulted in us relying completely on the kindness of strangers (and still needing to wake up at 5am to move our car to avoid being towed). Ultimately, this is a very nice property, but don't rent it if there's any chance of snow, you want to wash your clothes, or you're looking for a response from your host.

Portland Maine fall trip

The property is an older triplex, interior is nice. Neighborhood is quiet. Close to historic wharf area. Easy to walk to local restaurants and sites. I had my dog with me and appreciated the back yard. Of note, there is no washer/dryer in the unit. No dishwasher, but this wasn't a problem. Parking is limited to on-street and would be an issue if more than one car required space. The only bathroom and both bedrooms are on the second floor and might be a consideration for anyone with mobility issues. Would recommend this rental with those caveats.

Comfy rental in West End

Jason's rental is very clean and in a very quiet section of the West End. A couple additional notes: - LIVING ROOM has a very comfy love seat and a smart TV. It's small but functional. Decor is a bit Home Goods-y but it doesn't feel empty or echo-y. - DINING ROOM/KITCHEN - really big table in the dining room and lots of space in the kitchen but it is outdated and very basic so bring your own cooking oil etc. - BEDROOM(s) had a very comfortable bed and a/c window units in each, which is great for the summer. - BATHROOM was clean and had plenty of towels. - BACKYARD is shady and was convenient for the dog. Of note: the listing included a washer/dryer, which is no longer there. When I mentioned it to the host, he immediately called, apologized, and offered a solution. I'm mentioning it here just in case VRBO doesn't adjust the listing promptly. Overall, this place is clean and met all our needs. Jason is a very responsive host and was friendly on the phone and in messages.

We didn't feel comfortable and moved out early

The place was listed with laundry and a dryer. I saw from other reviews that it's supposed to be in the basement. But the basement door in the dining room was locked with a key and we couldn't access it. After telling the landlord, he ignored this and only responded about another thing. Then in the evening we saw that there was a light turned on in the basement behind the locked door, which made us feel even more uncomfortable. The whole place is due for renovations and major cleaning. On a first glance it's kind of clean, but not really. Dust and dirty windows and left over toothbrush packing when one looks more closely. The trashcans, mailbox and recycling bins were completely full on check-in, after communicating this the landlord arranged to have the recycling bins emptied, but not the trashcan nor the mailbox. We didn't want to stay a second night and moved to a hotel instead and were glad we did.

I am sorry a light on made you feel uncomfortable. I did respond to you and stated that the washer/dryer has been removed from the listing because of insurance reasons, hence why the door to the basement was locked. Regarding the trash, I do have a dedicated trash removal service that comes weekly so they must have come a day after you checked in, and I am sorry about the mail box but sometimes mail is delivered regardless of what I do. We did recently renovate in the spring but opted to keep the original pumpkin pine floors as well as the original wood details but some people prefer vinyl trim and updated materials, which is personal preference. I did call multiple times and texted you but didn’t get a response, I would have certainly refunded your last night if you didn’t want to stay. It sounds like a hotel room vs. a three bedroom townhouse in the heart of the West End was a better fit for you regardless, I wish you the best. I would love to make it up to you if you would let me. Take care.

This is a very good place for two couples or families with two pre teen children. It’s in a somewhat hilly, but walkable neighborhood with locally owned restaurants and cafes nearby. It’s a two mile walk or drive to the heart of the Old Port, and the locally renowned Becky’s Diner is about a half mile away. Please note that there’s one bathroom and it’s on the second floor, which requires climbing a flight of stairs. There’s on street parking, which we were lucky to find spaces nearby.

Bare bones basic

This is a bare bones property that is not a good value. Wifi was excellent and A/C window units kept us cool. The furniture did not match the property images. Most restaurants are a 20+ minute walk. The host was responsive when the cleaner forgot to leave fresh linens, but didn’t warn us ahead of time that the washer and dryer were in a basement that had water on the floor. We used the machines twice despite the host’s offer to cover an inconvenient laundry service. (Dryer vents into the basement and a constantly running dehumidifier might explain the water on the floor but the host suggested it was due to a city water runoff problem.) Bathroom is upstairs and window covering is soiled, discolored and does not fully cover the window. Most of the furniture and kitchen items look second hand. Front porch and back yard not well kept. We made the most of it, but again, not a great value.

The house was easy to get to and in a good location. There was a piece of left over clothing from a different group found in one of the bedrooms. Communication about the stay was great but one message did go unanswered. Overall, solid trip.

Fine for what we needed-but could use some updating

Dog friendly, and close to Downtown! The property was basically as described. The bedrooms were great. The bathroom for fine except for some mold in and around the tub area. One major issue, for me, was the pull-out bed/ couch. It was just really dingy and gross. The couch was sunken and the mattress pad was old and stained. There were three adult women there and I felt very bad and embarrassed for the person who had to sleep there.

I love the West End and when this great property became available with its pumpkin pine floors and stellar location I was all in. After 2 months of renovation (while maintaining the original character) I rented to two of my friends and started a short term rental in the West End Gem because I need a place for my family and friends to stay while visiting.
