Private Contemporary Artist's Tree House on two acres with perennial gardens.
This contemporary two story addition floats like a tree house among apple trees. All the amenities of a hotel, but the feeling of your own home, surrounded by art from the 19th to 21st centuries (we are collectors and artists ourselves), on two acres with perennial gardens filled with foxglove, delphinium, sunflowers, dahlias, tulips and more overlooking a wetland: private entrance and parking, deck, grill, huge hot tub (shared) with expansive backyard and woods, Streaming TV, 500 Mbps Mesh Wifi, access to a canoe and kayak, efficiency kitchen, and all the quiet you can imagine. My husband and I occupy the main house to which this addition is attached, but the split level space is completely your own and not shared. Come enjoy the Foodie haven of Portland, Maine and the quiet elegance of rural living. Come to write your next novel or just get away. We are a 5 minute drive to downtown Portland and all the local beaches; as well as numerous woods walks and beach walks walking distance from our home. Bring your bike and paddle board, or borrow our canoe and kayak.
Book your dinner reservations in Portland, and your sleeping accommodations in the Artist's Tree House. Please note the kitchen is an efficiency kitchen. We have an induction hot plate, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven and outdoor grill, but the kitchen is small. No dishwasher. No clothes washer or dryer. For wonderful, more extensive meals we suggest these great local restaurants: Leeward, Central Provisions, Twelve, Isa, Street and Co, Terlingua, Bao Bao, Davids 388, Fore Street, Regards, Bar Futo, Eventide Oysters, Izakaya Minato, Duckfat and Miyake--to name a few!

About the host
Hosted by Jocelyn Lee and Brian Urquhart
We are artists and art collectors. We have a beautiful renovated farmhouse on two acres with beautiful perennial gardens and we would love to share the retreat of this place with people looking to enjoy the amenities of Portland, but also the quiet of living among nature. We have 3 well behaved loving dogs and 3 geese who also roam the property.
Why they chose this property
It has the best of both worlds. Quiet, beauty, relaxation but access to all the pleasure of Portland dining and the beaches and coasts of Maine. You can ride a bike to the beach in 5 minutes. Or drive to State Parks in 35 minutes. Portland is a 10 minute bike ride over the bridge. Cape Elizabeth and Portland are a wonderful destination for artists and anyone looking for quiet, peace, a short bike ride to the beach, kayaking or canoeing on local rivers, or just reading in a hammock. Our contemporary "treehouse" is very private and quiet and sits attached to the back of our house, separated from our living space. Portland also has some fantastic award winning restaurants: Leeward, Twelve, Terlingua, Street and Co, Fore Street, Central Provisions, just to name a few!
What makes this property unique
The gardens and ancient apple trees surrounding and literally hugging the rental space. Free use of our Kayak and Canoe with advance notice and liability waiver. Also shared hot tub.
