Stunning 4BR! Spectacular views of Lake Otsego! Private dock w Raised Deck!
SUMMERTIME HILL DESCRIPTION
Summertime Hill is a 4 bedroom 3 bath restored historic house with spectacular views of Lake Otsego. Recently renovated and decorated with antiques and designer furniture by a well-known interior designer and with many unusual amenities, it is NOT a typical bare-bones rental house. Good Housekeeping sang the glories of this wonderful house in a major feature article, and agents say it is one of the most beautiful and romantic accommodations in the Cooperstown area.
We are halfway up the west side of the lake, 10 miles/15 minutes from Dreams Park. The property extends to the lake, where guests can enjoy a private dock and attached platform deck with 2 chaises, a table, 4 chairs, and flowers galore.
In the 4 bedrooms are 3 queen beds and one double. From all 3 queens, you can see the sun and moon rise on the lake – an amazing experience! Among the many amenities are central A/C with de-humidification, Jacuzzi tub, stainless appliances in the kitchen, a ;professional LaCanche stove, real china, fine glasses, Italian sheets, incredibly comfortable glider/rockers and beds, wireless high speed internet, and a 42” flat-screen TV with DVR/DVD/ROKU. Our Netflix provides 100's of free, great movies.
Surrounded by hills, Lake Otsego is by far the best lake near Cooperstown and has earned the nickname Glimmerglass, thanks to the beautiful shimmering and color changing effect produced by the deep currents in the lake – views especially breathtaking at sunrise and sunset. The water is crystal clear and pristine – perfect for swimming, fishing and boating. On a windless day, you can catch a glimpse of fish swimming around.
A few days in this bucolic setting, looking out on this truly spectacular lake will so relax, rest and energize you that you may never want to leave!
The rent is $4200/week, Friday to Friday, plus 4% tax. The damage deposit is $1,000. (Weekly only from 6/1 to 9/1.) We encourage you to book immediately right on this site….before somebody else grabs your week!
And, again, our thanks for considering our property for your vacation needs!

About Richard Scurry
We live in Charleston SC but love Cooperstown so much that we spend 4 months here every summer. I am co-founder of the Bible Literacy Project, which has a textbook - the Bible and Its Influence - now being used in academic elective Bible courses by 600 public high schools in 43 states. My wife Pam is a world-class designer whose work has appeared in over 100 feature magazine articles. Creating a country home like Summertime Hill was a life-long dream of hers, and she spent 2 full years on its renovation and interior design. It was our country home for years, until we bought a house in the Village which is better in the winters.
Richard Scurry purchased this House in 2001
Why Richard Scurry chose Town of Otsego
We bought this property because we fell in love with Lake Otsego - the beauty of the hills on all sides, the shimmering surface of the water, the lack of development (much of the land around it is owned by a foundation) and then our whole family loves to waterski. We also loved the house itself - built over 100 years ago, with a solidity modern houses don't have, with windows low enough to see the lake from a chair or bed, and a wonderful warm feel to it that warms one's heart.
What makes this House unique
Spectacular views of the lake while eating on the porch or reading a book in the wicker swing or in a rocker. You can eat in the dining room, breakfast room, on the porch, or down at the lake on the raised platform deck. The interior is stunningly beautiful, with the interior design by my wife, Pam - a world class designer, nationally recognized for her taste in colors, fabrics, antiques, designer furniture, all of which she coordinates to bring grace, charm, warmth and beauty to the entire house. Flowers everywhere - a garden in front of the house and in pots on the front porch and the side porth.

Beautiful home in the perfect location with exquisite furnishings, and a gracious host!
This home was a joy to stay in! Every detail was carefully attended to. We felt such a warm welcome from the fresh flowers to the owners favorite coffee left for us. It was nice to have a number to contact throughout the week and Richard was very kind to check in with us.
The location could not be more perfect! We stayed here while our son played baseball in Cooperstown Dreams Park and the drive never took us longer than 15 minutes. There are many close restaurants and things to do. There are menus and recommendations from the owner left for you to read. The Main Street of Cooperstown was only 5 minutes away.
The views out of the windows of the bedrooms upstairs are beautiful. We spent mornings rocking on the porch swing. I only wish the rising and setting sun took longer so we could have spent more time enjoying the view from the front porch. Swimming in the lake and relaxing by the water on the private dock was our favorite thing to do.
The house is well equipped with everything you would need. The owners literally thought of it all. Professional stove and cookware made cooking easy. Spices and sugar for coffee are all nice to have provided. There is a users guide to the whole home on the key desk, and it was very useful.
The beds were so comfortable and linens are luxurious. Plenty of pillows and blankets. The charm to which the house is decorated cannot be justly described. Best to see in person! I would not stay anywhere else if returning to this cozy town.
Homeowner was very accommodating and communication during was on point!
Loved the porch with swing. Easy access to water. We stayed for a weekend with family for a wedding. Very comfortable stay with a unique Victorian charm that suits Cooperstown.
We rented this lovely home for a week while my son played baseball in the Cooperstown 12U tournament. It was a perfect house....charming, comfortable, relaxing. The owner was very helpful; the house was well-appointed with everything we needed. The lake is STUNNING, and the dock and proximity were perfect. It was a bit of a drive to the ball park, but VERY worth it! Location was very close to town, though, which was a bonus. Would definitely stay here again! Great memories.
Perfect place for our 60th Birthday Celebration
Charming home with many extra amenities. Beautiful fall weekend - colors on the lake were amazing. The home is very accurately represented in the description on-line. Home owner gracious and accommodating. Have recommended to many friends. Perfect rental for any special family or group occasion.
Cooperstown is the home to the Baseball Hall of Fame, Glimmerglass Opera, a variety of historical and art museums.
