Tortuga's Dream Vacation Homeaway

I bought this brand new apartment in a new development carved out of the jungle at the edge of Puerto Morelos with every intention of living in it for part of the year. Starting with what I called 'a white box', the theme and colour scheme emerged, starting with the mural you on the dining room wall. Painted by Daniel, a muralist from Oaxaca I met at the home stay in Puerto Morelos where I stayed while my air conditioners were being installed, Tortuga's dream started with a conversation around a meal at the table Daniel's wife - Jennifer - invited me to join. Jennifer was there to study coral in a marine biology program through the university of Cancun. She told me that her husband is an outdoor wall muralist in Oaxaca. I asked if he had ever done an inside wall. Connecting, using Google Translate app, Daniel and I literally dreamed up the The mural - which I call - Tortuga's dream - inspired by a conversation we had about the fabulous life beneath the sea and the inspiration of the Mexican art of magical realism. The colours and tones of the carribean theme came to me as Daniel painted. I chose, installed and placed the decorative details in the rooms and Daniel painted the circles and arches and coves around the apartment to give it whimsical depth. I wanted to create a Riviera Maya homeaway for myself when I visit this magical place in the world, but when all came together, I thought that this special creation was too good to keep to myself. I believe art should not be locked away, but should be shared with others who find joy and ease in its presence and so I created the listing Tortuga's Dream Vacation Homeaway to share my Mexican homeaway with other dreamers and travellers and lovers of artistic imagination.

The condo is nested in a modern, comfortable, community environment where attention to details on the common areas carry the theme of a resort throughout, but is fully enclosed and far enough away from the main tourist areas that it has become its own community. People are friendly and relaxed and polite. I enjoy the family atmosphere of the common areas and especially enjoy the shady side of the adult pool. It has been so easy to make friends and already I have found contacts, drivers, tips on where to shop and where to eat. I have enjoyed a conversations with people from all over the world who come here for the same reason I do. To get away and shut the gate on all that makes us world weary.

This condominium complex was designed for owner-based resort-style living. Unlike time-shares, owners own their property all year round so its easy to make friends and establish relationships. There are a number of condos which are opperating as air-bnb style rentals, but the people all seem to blend in respectfully and peacefully. I think the combination of resort-style common ammenities like pools, courts and a club house with BBQs managed by the condo association staff makes it feel like a luxury resort, but it is secluded and private. No one can enter the compoud who does not stay there or have permission from the owners to be there.
