Silvertip Cabins, a duplex cabin nestled in the forest surrounding Silver Gate, Montana, will be the perfect adult accommodations for your private and quiet getaway. Located one mile outside the NE Gate to Yellowstone National Park, Silver Gate is a cozy community with 2 small stores, 2 food venues, and an outdoor shop. Right inside Yellowstone is the scenic and wildlife-rich Lamar Valley.

Each cabin is designed for no more than two adults in a rustic, yet comfortable space. No pets are allowed. Cabin includes a well-equipped FULL kitchen with eating bar, relaxed living room with satellite TV, luxurious California King handmade lodgepole bed, and bathroom with circular glass shower and separate vanity area. The porch provides a quiet, shady area on which to read, relax or just sit and listen to the wind as it passes through the trees that surround this gem of a cabin. The water well on our property has been recognized as one of the best and freshest in the State of Montana, so you won't need to bring bottled water, except if you want to FILL your bottles :)

A short walk across our property will find you on the banks of Soda Butte Creek for fishing or just relaxing next to the water. The view across the creek is Duffy's Meadow, a conservation property where no development is allowed thereby offering you an unobstructed view of nature.

Silvertip Cabins are also a short hike to several nearby waterfalls and hiking trails. ATVs are not allowed on the property, however we do have a place nearby where they can be parked. The cabin is a perfect base point for not only traveling into our nation's first national park to the west, but also to a variety of scenic roads and towns to the east. The town of Silver Gate itself is a 20 minute drive from the base of the Beartooth Scenic Highway over Beartooth Pass to Red Lodge Montana, as well as the beginning of the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway heading into Cody, Wyoming.

As shown in our pictures, Silvertip Cabins is a duplex, with each of the 2 cabins sleeping two children or pets. The internet on our property is available from the scenic main cabin porch and may ONLY be used for checking email and browsing the web. Since we are on a usage-based system, guests must agree NOT to download or upload anything (including photos) while using our system.

Our check-in time is 2:00 pm and our check out time is 10:00 am. If you would need a change to these times, please let the owner know when making your reservation.

Reservations of less than 7 days cannot be made until after March 1 unless a smaller "locked in" space shows available on our calendar prior to March 1.

A Great Surprise Rental!!

  • 5 of 5

We purchased three nights of our stay at a fund raiser for Just Hope - not really knowing the quality of the property we were bidding on. After reading some reviews, we added an additional two nights which was a brilliant move on our part. The property and the cabin was more than we anticipted. Beautiful well built cabin for two with all the amenities that one could expect. Really, it's more than we had anticipated as a place to stay to visit Yellowstone. The cabin was built by Pete and decorated by Carol. Cutest cabin inside and out ever!!!!!

Owner's Response: The only reason I wrote this review is because VRBO apparently got their wires crossed and asked me to review my OWN property! However, the review is completely truthful! The cabins are well-appointed, sparkling clean and when we stay in them, my husband and I don't want to leave! Hope you'll book with us for your next trip to Yellowstone NP and the Beartooth Wilderness area!

The Perfect Couples' Cabin Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We started our search for our "Bucket List" trip to Yellowstone in January. Every where we checked seemed to be out of our price range. Then, we came up on this listing. We agreed immediately that this cabin was perfect for us and a very reasonable price! After speaking with Carol, I was absolutely sure that we had made the right choice. Immediately after our conversation, she sent us all the information that we needed including grocery locations outside of town and detailed directions to the cabin as wifi/phone service was unavailable.

When we arrived, I don't think we could have been happier with what we found. The pictures don't do this adorable space justice. The cabin was spacious with PLENTY of room to store our things. Best of all, it was immaculately clean! It felt like we were the first people who had stayed there! Even the towels and sheets were extremely plush and soft! Also, literally every single kitchen utensil you could possibly need is at your disposal. We decided to cook most of our meals there and had absolutely no problems finding the tools we needed!

What I enjoyed the most, however, about our stay was the nights by the fire pit talking with our neighbors and, the incredibly generous and inviting owners who joined us to tell us the story of the area. Any question we had, they were more than willing to answer. When we had an issue with a hotel not wanting to cancel our reservation for our trip home, Carol was the first to offer their home phone for me to use to talk with them on the phone.

Our "Bucket Trip" out west was absolutely perfect. We were able to explore every facet of Yellowstone because of the close proximity of this cabin and the generosity of its owners.

Thank you, Carol and Pete, for literally helping make our dream a reality! You'll see us again!

Adorable cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Silver Gate, MN! The log cabin is so cozy and has everything needed for a comfortable home away from home. It was a great location to see Yellowstone since the NE entrance is in the Lamar Valley, the best location for all the wildlife. I am still chuckling when I think of the bison traffic jams!

Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

This was my third trip to Yellowstone and it was definitely the best. The location of the cabins was perfect for what I was wanting to do on my visit. Located just a mile outside of the NE entrance to Yellowstone, the cabin had you close to the park without all the crowds. Not to mention, the NE entrance is the closest entrance to the Lamar Valley which is the prime wildlife viewing territory in the park. During my visit I saw grizzlies, black bears, bald eagles, elk, bison, coyotes, mountain goats, etc but the highlight was being able to see wolves in the wild all within 30 miles of the cabin.

The cabin itself was perfect. Comfortable bed, Satellite TV, fully equipped kitchen, outdoor grill and fire pits next to cabin or down by the creek. Carol and Pete were great hosts and made sure I had everything I needed (or told me where to go to get it) to enjoy the trip. Carol even surprised me one evening with the best piece of homemade strawberry rhubarb pie I've ever had.

To get to Silver Gate-Cooke City yo either have to come through the park or come in via the Beartooth Highway or the Chief Joseph Scenic highway. Either way is a very scenic drive and worth the trip itself.

When I return to Yellowstone, I will definitely be looking to stay here again!

First Time To Yellowstone

  • 5 of 5

This was my first trip to Yellowstone and had waited a long time. So we planned this trip as a bucket list trip. We found this online and it couldn't have been better. It was very comfortable and its location couldn't have been better. Its less than a mile outside the Northeast gate. The owners go out of their way to be great host and the cabin and surrounding area is beautiful. If your interested in cabins, it was built by the owner and the craftsmanship is excellent.
