About the property

Spacious unique home with different themed rooms and large areas for groups

Come and snuggle up next to one of the 3 fireplaces in our home or take a dip in your own indoor pool heated to 95 degrees- We like it warm! On hot summer days we will cool the pool down and make it a refreshing place to escape the heat. We just installed a fun turbo twist water slide for your entire family's enjoyment!! There is an outdoor chessboard with 2 foot high chess pieces perfect for the thinkers in your family. There are 4 bedrooms. The green room has a queen bed and has trees that give it an exotic feel, . We have a bunk room that comes with two complete bunk beds with queen beds on the bottom and a twin on top. They also come with lots of drawers to put away all of your children many clothes, as well as two full closets! This room does have its own bathroom complete with a new jacuzzi bathtub!! The 3rd bedroom is a very simplistic room with some beautiful furniture and a queen bed. There are no windows in this room so it is perfect for anyone needing that afternoon nap from all of your activities! The main bathroom sits across the hall from this bedroom and is a beautiful tile bathroom with a Swedish shower massage unit. You can choose from several different sprays to give your bathing routine new meaning! Then of course there is the famous log cabin room. It is made entirely of beautiful logs and also has its own private bathroom. It has a king bed, which sits on top of an unusually high bed frame made out of solid real wood logs. You also have your own personal fireplace in this room to add to the atmosphere.

We have recently remodeled and have added an extremely plush carpet throughout the living rooms. Your toes will get a refreshing treat and you may find that your guests will want to just stay and sleep on the very soft and fluffy carpet!

We have designed our home for entertaining purposes. There are lots of stacking chairs that can be placed around 2 folding tables, if the two large round glass tables are not enough for your dining needs. We have place settings for 30 so you don't always have to wash after each meal. There are two standup refrigerators and freezers to hold all of your food as well as a gas oven, double oven and a large microwave. Our home is does have a BBQ if that is still not enough cooking space for you.

We are excited to share our home with you! We love its unique character- You will not find another one like it. That is why we have decided to open it up to families who want to create lasting memories, and enjoy an affordable experience. Because of this, there is NO CABLE in the home. There is one TV/DVD combo in a sitting/viewing area for watching movies. There is also a projector screen out in our recreational room. It was a garage that we converted into a gym area, with gym flooring for hosting parties or exercising. We have had small dances out there and meals. It is an open room that can be used for many different purposes. It has a Blue ray/DVD player in it, and zero gravity chairs for viewing your favorite action or family movie. So sit back, laugh and build those memories that will last long into your child's adult years.

*house currently has 3 air conditioning units. - and we cool the pool down,it is very refreshing!

About Christine Olson

Our family has always lived in Oregon. Although we love to travel and I am always looking for great places to stay with a large family. We purchased this home for ourselves as we have many children. We loved living here and consider it our home. We have recently moved due to work, but couldn't part with such a wonderful home. So we have remodeled it, and know that you will enjoy this unique find the way that we have.

Christine Olson purchased this house in 2005

Why Christine Olson chose Central Oregon

This property is so unique that there isn't anything like it in the area. You really have stumbled upon a wonderful place that is centrally located, and that will allow you to be with a large group of friends and/or family.

What makes this house unique

The pool is definitely unique. We are the only home in all of Redmond that has an indoor pool. It even has a diving board, and a new turbo twist water slide! The log room is amazing and so is the theater room/exercise room.

Perfect for my Birthday Party!

  • 4 of 5

This house was great! The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of bedding. The pool was awesome and nice and warm for the cool days! There was plenty of room for my group! It could use some updating here and there, but the retro feel was kind of cool. Felt like I was in the Brady Bunch :) I would definitely stay here again with a large group! It was close to parks and not too far of a walk to Wild Ride Brewery. Only a 15 min drive to Smith Rock, which was great since we spend 3 of the days out there climbing. Way better location than Bend! Thanks Christine and Mason!

We'll be back!!!

  • 5 of 5

What a great house for a large group! We were there for a basketball tournament and couldn't have found a better place to spend the weekend. The pool was the biggest hit with the kids...and the fact that we could watch them through the sliding glass doors while relaxing on the couches was the biggest hit with the adults! The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The owner was very easy to work with and we can't wait to have another reason to come back!

this was a terrible experience. there are so many things wrong with this house that the list is long

  • 1 of 5

this house is not ready for the public. violations of electrical and building codes made us as parents consistently be ever watchful of the children and grandkids. sliding doors to the pool that were rusted stuck and required fireplace tools to pry open. pool heaters that did not work leaving the pool too cold to swim in . pool pumps that gave off audible warning alarms every 30 minutes during the night making sleep nearly impossible. the list goes on and on. we will be contacting our credit card provider for a dispute on this rental disaster.

Owner's Response: I am shocked at this review. Yes the pool pump did go out during their stay but it wasnt an electrical issue and when they arrived the pool was nice and warm, it just continually got colder through their stay. There was an alarm that told us that the pump was going out. We have never had the pump go out so this was a new experience and an unfortunate one that no one could have predicted. I offered compensation for them to return and they all loved that idea but felt that they may not all be able to return together so they agreed on one night reimbursement since that is all that was really a problem. Since their stay we have fixed the pump and the pool is up and fully functioning. As for the glass that they are prying with metal objects, that just shows why we have rules that we do. People do dumb things. We state that these doors don't move , they are stuck in place. In case if emergency you can move them but there really is no need. They consist of 4 sets of big glass sliding doors that make up a good section of the pool room so you can see in easily for safety reasons. It is also a secuity measure not to fix them beause there would be more access for little kids to the pool. The main sliding door that has the lock opens and closes with ease and there is no reason to go through any other place . As for the house being difficult to keep warm, we do have an older house with a full cement/tile floor. We do recommend slippers or socks be worn during cold storms. Their stay was in the unusually cold storm that we had feet of snow and ice for a month. It was so heavy that it damaged our roof in one spot. This was an extreme storm, but even through that, there are 2 woodstoves and a fireplace and electrical heaters with their own thermostat's in the rooms. Our family was there during the same storm just a week earlier and we opted to not build a fire in one of the woodstoves because it roasted us out of the room. I think this comment and any other comments are good examples that you can't please everyone and that no matter what you do they are still going to complain. Our goal is to open up our home and give a fun place for friends and families to reunite and share memories. I cannot guarantee that things won't happen during your stay but I will try to make it the best that I can. Feel free to call and get clarification on any other comments that you see.

Super fun, spacious, house!

  • 4 of 5

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with everyone! This house was amazing. It feels bigger than the pictures look, this was the first thing we noticed. It's a very spacious house. My group was 12 golf buddies, and we were very comfortable. The bunk beds are a great space if you're traveling with your family and have children, but they're also plenty big enough to sleep adults too.

A concern I had before we arrived was how hot it would be. I had read there isn't any AC in the house, but that they had small portable AC units. These units are not small. They're amazing. It was in the 90's during my stay, and the 4 or 5 portable AC units kept the place very comfortable.

We cooked a dinner for 12 adults, and the kitchen had everything we needed to do this. It was a well stocked kitchen, and had nice place setting. We had no problems with the ovens, as a previous reviewer had mentioned.

The pool is the selling point of the house, and for good reason. It, like the rest of the house, is much bigger in person that it is in pictures. It is at a perfect temperature.

I only have two complaints and they're rather small. One is ventilation of the pool room is pretty bad. Even with following the strict rules about covering the pool as often as possible. It felt like you were entering a big cloud of pool air. This could be solved if they got the two big sliding glass doors fixed that lead to the chess game/BBQ area, and you were allowed to open them while enjoying the pool.

The white carpet is also a little difficult to navigate since there are strict rules to keep it nice. With how much time we enjoyed in the pool, our feet were feeling a little raw on the pool deck. It would be nice to be able to put on some sandals when you get out of the pool and walk to the rest of the house. But the white carpet, that you aren't allowed to wear shoes on, prevents this from being possible. The same can be said for enjoying the BBQ area, an area you want to wear shoes in. You can't get to this area without passing over the carpet, so you're entering the house, taking off your shoes, walking over the carpet, putting them back on. This made the carpet an obstacle, instead of something enjoy. Which it is enjoyable. It's amazingly soft, cozy under your feet!

Overall we had a VERY positive experience. We would absolutely stay here again. And if you're on the fence about the property... You should just jump in because it's great!

You will be staying in an older established neighborhood that sits a block away from the dry creek canyon. It is a fantastic place to leisurely walk, ride bikes, etc all while watching birds and wildlife. Dry creek cayon also runs through Redmond leading through and to various parks throughout the city. We are conveniently located next to Bend which offers year around activities including the famous Mt. Bachelor for skiing and all of your winter activities. The City of Redmond is known for a slower lifestyle that completes any vacation with its relaxation. But don't be fooled, there are lots of boutiques and antique shops to look at during the day, as well as a water fountain park in the summer and an iceskating park in the winter. Evenings become alive with the various brew houses and evening movies in the outdoor amphitheater. Next to Redmond you have Terrebonne which is home to the World Famous Smith Rock. Known by all for the famous 'Monkey Face' natural rock statue that people come for all over the world to climb. Sheer cliffs that lead to the top can also be accessed by the well established walking trail for those who don't want to dangle by a piece of metal and rope. However, if you are somewhere in between, you can choose to pay for lessons and there are several learner courses to wet your appetite! Redmond is also close to Madras which is home to Lake Billy Chinook which is famous for its fishing, boating and jet ski rentals. There is also diving allowed, but the visibility is very limited. These are just a few of the main cities that Redmond is in the heart of. All of them have very unique activities that they offer, but they all offer great views of the beautiful mountains, lots of mountain lakes, interesting and challenging golf courses, as well as lots of BLM land to ride your horse, or ATV on.
