About this property
Pointhouse at Sargeant Bay-Dramatic architecture to match stunning oceanfront
Nestled into the granite of a south facing point surrounded by sea, the location of this spectacular home is rated extreme oceanfront. You’d have to be sailing to be any closer.
Extensive glazing frames the amazing views and reinforces the sense of intimacy with nature. Gaze out to sea, peer into the rainforest, or observe wildlife up close. Listen to waves break on the shore and eagles chittering in the treetops. Smell the fragrance of cedar seasoned with the tang of salty air.
Designed for privacy and fashioned with the timeless look of a classic yacht, three amazing staterooms evoke a luxury small ship cruise experience. Each bedroom contains a spa style ensuite (2 have steam showers), soaker tubs, gas fireplaces, private decks, infloor heating and 42' TVs.
A well equipped gourmet kitchen as well as a large covered outdoor kitchen make the property suitable for gourmet weekends or for intimate weddings or special events.
The lower living room and lounge forms the prow of the ship and opens to a large oceanfront deck. Crisp white surfaces and beautiful custom walnut cabinetry reinforce the nautical feel with lots of ship shape storage for a clean, modern look.
Private beach, mooring buoy and seasonal dock allow easy access for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding or arriving by boat. Expansive multi-level decks, balconies, gardens and nooks along the shore afford many options to enjoy some sea air. Beachcomb right off the deck or at Sargeant Bay Provincial Park a short walk from the property.
Centrally located 35 minutes from the ferry, close to the shops, restaurants and galleries in Sechelt and equidistant from the spectacular harbors of Gibsons and Pender. Enjoy wonderful boating, bike trails, walks, fishing, golf, close by.
Perfect for a family vacation, multi-couple holiday, girls getaway, or a foodie weekend. Optional enhancements for your stay such as massage, private chef's dinners, or other special packages can be arranged as well as wedding or elopement packages. The Pointhouse can also be experienced as a hosted B&B stay if it's just the two of you needing a recharging retreat. Storm watching is a bonus in the off season though our temperate climate offers year round options for recreation.
'The Aerie, a detached self-contained 1 bdrm, 2 bath guesthouse, is situated on a private bluff above the Pointhouse. It can be rented separately or in addition for extra capacity. Family and pet friendly.
A new multi-purpose studio constructed from shipping containers also graces the estate property. Exercise, yoga, dance ,massage, art or extra self-catering guest accommodations. Compact kitchen, bathroom and mezzanine/loft area for extra work or lounginging space. Can also be rented separately or in addition to the other homes on the property.

The Lido Spa - A coastal sanctuary shaped by nature
The Lido Spa at the Pointhouse is more than a wellness amenity — it's a reflection of years of dreaming, designing, and responding to the natural rhythms of the Sunshine Coast.
Born from a long-held vision to incorporate a sauna into the property, the spa evolved organically as the landscape changed. With mature trees lost to climate stress, the land opened up and invited a new kind of healing space: one built around light, flow, and connection to nature.
The name Lido draws on two inspirations: the traditional European lido — a place of stylish outdoor bathing — and the lido deck of a cruise ship, where guests gather in open air to unwind and take in the view. Guests often describe the Pointhouse as feeling like a boutique cruise, anchored in the wild — and the Lido Spa completes that experience.
As a landscape spa, the Lido integrates the elements of heat, cold, and rest through open-air design, custom cedar architecture, hot and cold plunge pools, and serene pathways inspired by Nordic and Japanese garden traditions. It offers guests a truly sensory experience that is immersive, grounding, and aligned with the natural world.
The Lido Spa is the exclusive domain of Vacation Rental guests when renting the whole Pointhouse.

About the host
Hosted by Heather Newman

We bought the property in Dec 2005 as our future retirement home while we were still residing and working in Dawson Creek, BC. It was a successful vacation rental till Feb 2010 when we began a complete reconstruction of the main house and built a new guesthouse (Aerie) on the bluff above.
We made the move to the Sunshine Coast full time in January 2011 living first in the Aerie guesthouse and finally in Jun 2012, the expanded and renovated Pointhouse. The Pointhouse operates as a boutique B&B most of the time but is available for select vacation rentals throughout the year as well as special occasions such as small weddings, meetings or other events.
In 2020 we completed Studio ISO, constructed from two shipping containers onsite that were used during our earlier construction phases. The hybrid cargotecture studio serves as another accommodation option as well as extra space for art, yoga, exercise or massage.
With the interesting guests from all over the world true retirement is still a ways off. Fortunately, life on the coast is a more relaxed pace allowing us more playtime, family time and travel opportunities.
