About Heather

We bought the property in Dec 2005 as our future retirement home while we were still residing and working in Dawson Creek, BC. It was a successful vacation rental till Feb 2010 when we began a complete reconstruction of the main house and built a new guesthouse (Aerie) on the bluff above.

We made the move to the Sunshine Coast full time in January 2011 living first in the Aerie guesthouse and finally in Jun 2012, the expanded and renovated Pointhouse. The Pointhouse operates as a boutique B&B most of the time but is available for select vacation rentals throughout the year as well as special occasions such as small weddings, meetings or other events.

With the interesting guests from all over the world and a busy schedule of physician locums, retirement is still a ways off. Fortunately, life on the coast is a more relaxed pace allowing us more playtime, family time and travel opportunities.

Why Heather chose World

There are very few properties like this anywhere on the coast where you can experience true oceanfront living and such an intimate connection with nature. Exceptionally private and surrounded by water, we feel as if we're living our own luxury cruise ship. Rugged headlands, driftwood strewn beaches, ancient trees, moss, rocks, wildlife add another dimension to life on the water.

What makes this house unique

Privacy and incredible views from every vantage. You'll feel intimately connected to nature and the ocean surrounding you. Private beach access and waterfront nooks as well as the neighbouring Sargeant Bay Provincial Park with lovely shingle and sand beach fronting a marsh and bird sanctuary. Upland park trails connect with the vast network of hiking and mountain biking routes that extend up and down the coast.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I want to thank you for creating a magical place for us to be. Anytime I take a big breath and close my eyes I visualize the view and I again get transformed. I kept thinking that I wanted to thank you for your creation and how fortunate we were to have experienced same

We enjoyed the house very much! Gorgeous architecture!

  • 4 of 5

This was our first rental as a family together, so we all very much were looking forward to spending well overdue and precious time together in this gorgeous house! We also planned to use the dock, which Heather and Bob kindly rushed to put in for us, as it was the end of May and the weather was just getting sunny and warm....We were most grateful for that, as my kids arrived by boat, and we spent our days out on the water having picnics together in the local area. The house is truly divine with the glass walls and being able to see the water at all times of the day and night is luxurious and a nature lovers dream come true!

The only thing that caught me off guard and totally by surprise, was that on VRBO, there is no suggestion that you will need to sign a waiver/contract and leave an imprint of your credit card with Heather once you check in, with no limit as to what could be drawn off it should there be some break down of equipment in and around the house......After all the excitement and anticipation of our arrival, my mood dropped as I was immediately filled with fear that if something failed in this “Smart House”, like if the dock lifting mechanism broke, etc, I would be entirely responsible for fixing it with my credit card!!! So it was not the most relaxing welcome that I had anticipated......So I think if all of that information, including a copy of the waiver and contract that you will have to sign which is accompanied by the mandatory credit card information, was written and transparent in the VRBO Package, I would have perhaps been more aware and not so caught off guard.....Less on the element of surprise!

Beyond all of that, my kids and I truly had a wonderful stay together, and it is a place to become close, to bond, and to completely appreciate and to be grateful for one another......Together, we feel truly grateful for all that life has to offer......It’s a wonderful place to enjoy!

The Sunshine Coast is a relatively unknown treasure about an hour from Vancouver. It has more artists per capita than anywhere else in Canada. This is because it is such a peaceful and scenic area. It is full of things to do and see. The boating is spectacular and there are many wonderful walks along the coastline or thru the lush rainforest. Two epic examples of this are the boat trip up Princess Louisa Inlet to Chatterbox Falls and the walk to the world famous Skookumchuck rapids - a natural tidal flow during which billions of gallons of water pass thru a narrow inlet. At the highest flow times you can often see surfers riding the waves.

We do get more sunshine hours than Vancouver as well.
