About Susan St. Louis
I grew up in a small town in Connecticut, and married my college sweetheart, who is a doctor. We raised three girls, homeschooled them, coached youth soccer, and now spend our time studying languages, cooking meals for friends, trying to stay fit, and volunteering for medical missionary trips whenever possible. We have used VRBO properties many times, ourselves, and we find it a much better way to travel than to stay in hotels. We hope you will enjoy staying in our beautiful new Palm Springs casa.
Susan St. Louis purchased this House in 2013
Why Susan St. Louis chose Warm Sands
Casa de Colores (House of Colors) has been lovingly decorated with all new furniture, beautiful art and accessories in the colors of the desert to make your stay comfortable, enjoyable and unforgettable. Each bedroom has its own outside door, with high quality wooden shutters that completely darken the rooms when fully closed. All linens and towels are new, and will be regularly replaced as needed, to ensure comfort and satisfaction. The living room opens onto the front courtyard, with its mountain views, and allows you to 'bring the outdoors in with you.' The game table in the living room nook will lure you to find out who has the best poker face. Full sets of dishes, pots and pans, cooking utensils and basic supplies will provide you with all the things you'll need to cook as much or as little as you desire. The pool and spa will draw you to spend time in the back yard, but you will also have three separate lounging and eating areas there in which to spend your time. Whether you are one couple, a large family or 2 or 3 couples vacationing together, you will never lack for comfortable, private places to sit and talk. We want this house to be the best place you've ever vacationed in, and we will continue to try to make it worthy of that label.
What makes this House unique
When we saw this house we fell in love with the quality of the construction, and the wonderful architectural elements like the round windows in the front entryway and master bath, the foyer tower, the arched entryway and front door, the colored tile floors throughout, and the exquisite wooden beams and cathedral ceiling in the living room. We also really liked that each bedroom has its own bath and exterior door. And many of the attractions of downtown Palm Springs are within a short walk!

Great location, great house & pool.
The house is as described and in pictures. Well equipped kitchen, lots of towels and very clean. Great location, near downtown, but quiet. Lovely pool and patio. We were travelling as an extended family (Four adults, one four year old and one infant). The doors are alarmed, so we didn’t have to worry about the four year old getting in to the pool without supervision. We had a couple of issues (plumbing etc.), but Susan dealt with them promptly and graciously. We hope to return soon.
Thanks, Jay, both for your nice review and for being such great guests. I am so glad that all three generations enjoyed the pool and house, and I do hope that you'll get a chance to return again soon!
We loved having this gem of a home away from our home to celebrate an anniversary and milestone birthdays. Very welcoming from the hostess communication to the decor and amenities to the refreshing pool and jacuzzi. The home is peaceful but close enough to find great places to eat, shop or listen to live music. Everything was simple to find and we immediately felt comfortable. Thank you for sharing Casa de Colores.
I'm so glad that you could get a real rest here at Casa de Colores - you deserve it. And how nice that you were able to celebrate two important events here! It was great to meet you and your husband, and I do hope that you'll come stay with us again in the future.
Beautiful, relaxing home
Well stocked, lovely and spacious home. This was our second stay at Casa de Colores and we were not disappointed. The 4 bedrooms and bathrooms ensures everyone has enough space and there are ample towels and the kitchen is very well stocked. Susan, the owner, is very pleasant and easy to deal with. The neighborhood is very quiet and the house is within walking distance to shops and restaurants.
Thanks, Sylvie! The house is very spacious, especially for a single couple, but we actually have 3 BRs and 3 BAs. I guess you never got to stay in all of the rooms! I was so happy to have you book with us again. I hope you'll come back again next year!
This was the perfect vacation for my husband and I! The place is lovely, spacious, very, very nice! We are busy people and having a place free of crowds (vs. a hotel situation) was wonderful...just what we needed! We enjoy making a few meals of our own, mindful of portions, so this fit the bill.
The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Restaurants were easily found and shopping as well. The place is very clean, well-kept, all around great....
Susan was wonderful too, having left us some goodies, and as nice as can be! She was readily available whenever we had questions...
I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was, so relaxing, so refreshing, since we wanted to "do nothing" on vacation and this was perfect..a kitchen, a huge master bedroom and bath (husband loved the soaking tub!), a pool and pool toys, a jacuzzi...we are thinking ahead to next year there again!
Thank you Susan!!
Thank you, Brenda - you two were the perfect guests! I hope that you'll come back again every summer to get your quiet time and enjoy the pool.
Wonderful in every possible way.
Our fourth visit and we’ll keep coming back ;-)
Thanks, Lisa! I was so happy to meet you this trip. I hope that you will keep coming back every summer!
Beautiful Home with all the amenities. From cooking to playing in the pool they have everything
The house is wonderful my only problem was I am not young anymore and the firm bed was not my favorite. To be fair the rest of the house is wonderful. Full bathroom access from each bedroom. Plenty of towels and toys for the pool my 6 y/o granddaughter was in the pool constantly. Everything you need in close proximity. We very much enjoyed our stay and will probably return maybe in the winter next time so the temperatures will only be about 90 lol.
Thank you, Larry - I'm glad that the house suited your needs. I haven't heard from other guests that the bed was too firm - I will need to purchase and store a mattress topper in the closet so it will be accessible for anyone in the future who also needs a softer bed. Please come again!
Most people come to Palm Springs for the unique combination of outdoors living, recreational activities, and cultural richness to be found here. From the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, which draws top music and comedy performers due to our proximity to Los Angeles, to the lively arts community, to the hundreds of golf courses, tennis courts, and country clubs to be found in the Coachella Valley, we are certain that Palm Springs has something for everyone. And the many events that occur each year in our valley draw interest from around the nation and even the world - the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals, the BNP Paribas Tennis tournament, the Humana Challenge and Kraft Nabisco golf tournaments, the White Party, the Palm Springs Film Festival, the Tour de Palm Springs bicycle event, and many more. But in addition to all of that, if you want to vacation in a place where you can simply rest, sunbathe, lounge by the pool and rejuvenate yourself, our house will provide the indoor/outdoor Palm Springs living style that you are craving.
The areas of southern California within and surrounding the Coachella Valley abound in great outdoors adventures. The base station for the famous Palm Springs Aerial Tram is about a 15 minute drive from our house. The largest rotating tramcars in the world take you from the valley to the San Jacinto Mountain Station, at 8,516 feet of altitude. Also nearby (about one hour by car) is Joshua Tree National Park, perhaps the premier rock climbing mecca of America. Joshua Tree, named for the amazing and weird versions of the yucca plant that grow only in that area, is also full of wonderful hikes and stunning driving tours. Big Bear Lake, with all the summer boating, fishing and swimming activities, and both alpine and downhill skiing in the winter, is only 2 hours away by car. The attractions of Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego are all within a few hours away by car.
