Welcome to our little dream house. We purchased this house for quick summer get aways, art lessons and ski trips. Since we are now retired, we no longer NEED to get away, so while we are not using it, we are happy to share it with you.
Newly carpeted, in the winter it feels great underfoot… Brand new mattresses, and a new sofa bed, You will find this is no run-down ski lodge. Its a great little home in town. We keep it clean and fresh, and take pride in keeping the house comfortable and inviting. We are fortunate to say that our renters treat it as if it were their home too. Come to Taos, stay awhile. Make yourself at home.
This home has two master bedrooms, each with a full bathroom. It is laid out perfectly for two couples or any guests who each have their own space and it works well for a family too because of the third queen bed/couch. Great girls get away house too.
Just 3 blocks to the Plaza, enjoy great shopping, and dining. Our home is an easy drive to Taos Ski Valley, Arroyo Seco or Santa Fe. Since the home is authentic adobe and has passive solar heat with windows to the south, it is warm and sunny in the daytime and comfortable and warm at night. The fireplace in the living room adds the perfect touch during the winter and the adobe keeps it cool in summer. Taos does not need air conditioning, its located on hight desert, it gets cool every night thru the summer.
We have paid particular attention to the details that will make you feel right at home. This is no stripped down rental house, but a sweet home with lots of little extras like flannel sheets in winter and goose down comforters keep you cozy.
During the warm months the courtyard is shady and cool for summer dinners, and it's very private. We have ceiling fans in both bedrooms.
Our goal is for you to return year after year and stay with us. We hope you will feel as though this is your 'very own' vacation home.
Located just 2 1/2 blocks to the Plaza an easy walk to nearby Bent Street to visit art galleries, great shopping, or just browse around this historic town. There is something going on all year long in Taos.
We often have adult students stay at our house because of the close proximity to cooking classes, art classes and writing classes held nearby. Ski Families love that some folks stay in town while the rest go ski and everyone is happy. We have many repeat guests….
WE DO ALLOW GOOD DOGS....... However.....this is a NON-SMOKING home.
I am a native of Colorado and Randy was raised in the Chicago area. Randy is a retired Architect and I am an artist..…We both love the southwest and this home is a manifestation of all we love.
Remember this is Taos....Its not polished or formal, its very clean, well maintained and comfortable/ funky.. and fun.
Chris and Randy
Chris purchased this house in 1984
We chose this casita as a get away just 5 hours from our home. Randy comes to Taos for the nearby golf and bike riding... I enjoy coming to Taos to paint. We are both amazed that there are so many great places to see and to eat!
We are experienced hosts who strive to make this the most convenient and comfortable Taos vacation lodging experience possible. Casa de Suenos is a guest house for family, friends and vacation visitors looking for a true Taos style place to stay. They are wonderful hosts who want you to come enjoy the uniquely special town of Taos and its environs
A cozy, comfortable home, with an adobe wall in the living room. A courtyard that is functional and private. Close proximity to stores and shopping but you feel removed and tucked away.
Perfect house for pets. Fenced courtyard... $10.00 per night for a pet.
I was excited for these folks to stay because they were so excited to come to Taos for Christmas. Then the dramatic snow hit southeast NM.. bummer! We will make it up to them. THESE are the kinds of great folks our home draws... Thank you for treating our little home as your own... Come back this fall....
We enjoyed this sweet casita over the Christmas holiday. The place was well-equipped & we even had fresh cookies waiting for us when we arrived. Very enjoyable getaway!
We just enjoyed a few days with comfort, peace, and quiet. This is a great location with a short walk to shops. The cozy house is well stocked with everything we needed. It is so clean and I have to say, very comfy beds. We used the restaurant suggestions listed in a notebook by the owners. All excellent choices. The owners were very easy to work with. They want to share their home and make their visitors feel comfortable. It worked!
This casita is the perfect spot for those wanting outdoor activities nearby or those wanting to sit in the enclosed courtyard to soak up sun. Chris and Randy have thought of everything to make a stay comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked with any cooking items needed but there is also a book of recommended restaurants. We found the recommendations to be "spot on." Greeted with a lovely welcome note and cookies, it felt like home immediately. The bedrooms being separated by the kitchen gives privacy to everyone! Being located just a stroll or brisk walk from the plaza, this casita provided the quietness we were seeking while also giving the delightfulness of interacting with the locals. Would we ask to stay here again? In a New York minute!
My husband, myself and my dear friend spent Christmas in this little casita. It was very convenient to town. It had everything we needed. Chris, the owner, left us a few little gifts that completed our visit. The only complaint I have is that we had to leave 2 days early due to a winter storm.
I certainly recommend this place.
It was everything the ad said it should be and was a perfect location for a trip to Taos. House was spotless, everything worked, easy walk to the Plaza and downtown. Easy back road out in both directions to avoid main street traffic if you are going out to do hiking (as my son and I did). We will definitely be back. Bedrooms (each with its own bathroom) on opposite sides of the kitchen/living area gave them both privacy
During spring break my 2 college daughters and I headed for New Mexico for a girl's weekend. We went to Ojo Caliente spa which is only about 30 minutes away and is well worth the day trip.
We found our cozy Casita to be a total gem in Taos. It is affordable and welcoming. Closely located to the plaza, restaurants, shops, galleries- all within walking distance. The house is well cared for and decorated with cute art with a local flare. The neighborhood feels safe and I had some wonderful walks looking at the New Mexican homes and yards. The patio is private and perfect for morning coffee and evening dinners and the kitchen is well appointed with everything you need. Cid's (a wonderful natural market) is less than 5 minutes drive and has it all! There are pretty historic buildings, a school and a church in the neighborhood. The bedrooms are comfortable and cozy...we all slept very well. Randy and Chris (the owners) are accommodating and generous with suggestions of things to do and where the best restaurants are. We loved this special place and look forward to coming back in the future! At Chris' recommend we went to Orlando's and brought home green chili with us which was a great suggestion. We give the Casita a 10!
