A few days after arrival, water started leaking into our unit from the apartment above with an overflowing sink. To mitigate the damage to our unit the owner hired a remediation company that installed three large industrial fans and an extractor/dehumidifier that ran for four days straight 24 hours a day. Sounded like a 747 Jet was about to take off from inside our unit, but never left the ground. FOR FOUR DAYS AND NIGHTS. Once those were gone, the fridge/freezer decided to stop working. After several days of the owner trying to get a replacement fridge with no help from his supplier, they opted to put in a 1 cu ft counter top cooler (no freezer). No compensation was offered except the hope that they could get something from the other guy's insurance company.
Since these were all-consuming negatives, it is difficult to be positive about the very responsive landlords or the very enjoyable trips to waterfalls, theaters, dinners (expensive), and Hawaiian luaus. The bus pass that we each bought for $20 Senior Citizen rate) got us unlimited rides all over for the entire month. It was fun exploring. That was the best part of the vacation
The trade winds were blowing so strong that it was difficult to enjoy the pool, which was heated only occasionally.and cold most of the time. On the 21st floor, we were surprised at the loud level of street noises that could be heard -- sirens, motorcycles, bar music, even with the lanai door a windows closed. We were about a ten minute walk to the beach, and spent many hours there and enjoyed floating, watching surfers and swimmers, and the sunsets
I'm ALMOST STARTING TO FEEL POSITIVE AGAIN.
