The Space:
The Makely House is a tastefully renovated and spacious historic home just minutes from Windham Mountain Club. Original architectural details abound across the home’s multiple levels. Original tin ceilings and warm hardwood floors set the tone, complemented by rich wood trim and classic styling throughout.
Upon entering the home, the main floor features a vintage industrial library style office with an antique desk ideal for focused work or reading. To the right is an oversized mudroom/coat room with plenty of space for all of your ski gear. Beyond the mudroom, find a formal dining room with expansive windows, a large dining table, and a comfortable leather loveseat and armchairs. This space flows into a bright living room that offers a retro inspired media console with TV, cozy seating options and an armoire stocked with games. The spacious chef’s kitchen boasts Viking appliances, classic white cabinetry, a dining table for four and direct access to the outdoor deck with additional seating and outdoor dining.
Additionally on the main floor, there is a primary bedroom featuring a king size bed, and an en-suite bathroom with oversized soaking tub and a shower, plus direct access to the outdoor deck.
Four guest bedrooms are located upstairs on the second floor. The first guest bedroom presents a king size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower in classic tile. The second guest suite on this floor features a queen size bed and ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, and the third bedroom with a queen size bed and fourth bedroom with a full share access to the jack and jill bathroom. The third floor offers two more guest bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers. One bedroom features a queen size bed while the other presents two twin beds. This floor also provides a laundry area for guests, and a crib on the landing shared between the rooms.
The backyard is set up for year-round enjoyment with a hot tub, fire pit, and a deck equipped with a grill, outdoor seating, and dining space. During the summer season, the on-site barn with a second floor yoga room lit with charming fairy lights is available for events, workshops and retreats, offering a unique bonus space for gatherings.

The Neighborhood:
Experience Windham just as locals do! Start your morning with brunch at Babblers, a longtime favorite known for hearty plates and a relaxed, friendly vibe. When you’re ready to get outside, head to Elm Ridge Wild Forest for scenic trails that showcase the area’s natural beauty in every season. Getting Around:
The Makely House is just 3 hours from New York City. A car is essential for getting there and exploring the area. The main access routes are the I-87 S, NY-32 S and Taconic State Pkwy. We strongly recommend a 4x4 or a car with four-wheel drive, especially in winter, to handle snow and gravel roads.
Other Things to Note:
There is no wood stove or fireplace.
The house is pet friendly, dogs only.
