Owner purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2013
Why Owner chose Cañon City
We looked for 2 years before purchasing Soaring Eagle. We wanted beautiful scenery, serenity (no road noise - just the wind in the trees). We wanted to see wildlife: deer, elk, antelope, fox, bobcat, etc. It has wonderful water - its own well so we are able to have a lovely garden in front of our house.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
The home has southern exposures and views from almost every room. The interior is paneled and has a wood smell when you walk in. I love the flow of the house. From the deck we have a plethora of hummingbirds and other local birds in the summer. They look like flying jewels. :-)

Great place and great views!
Nice, clean, and comfortable. Had a great weekend stay.
The property was beautiful, peaceful and very humbling .
Joyce and Michael were the best! They are very kind, knowledgeable, courteous and beautiful people. Their love for nature is addictive. Their property and the the drive is breath taking and the wildlife was abundant. We could not have asked for a better vacation! Thank you Joyce and Michael !
Thank you so much for the review. It was a pleasure to be your host. Please come visit again.
Beautiful house and property!!
This place is amazing, it's remote and absolutely gorgeous! Amenities were great and Michael and Joyce were there to meet us and supplied with anything we needed! There was a teepee on the property as well and the hot tub was amazing! It was hard to leave to go do activities as the beauty makes you want to stay forever! I did not read how far the location was off the main road, so be aware it's about 15 min off the highway on a dirt road, but totally worth it! I would recommend it for a retreat/chilling out trip and get your groceries/fill up on gas on way up as there is nothing around for miles!! Total seclusion = relaxation!
Thank you so much for the review. We love hosting folks like yourselves who love the beauty of nature and enjoy the peace and quiet. We all need more time to relax and we are so glad we can provide it. We hope you come and visit again. :-)
Home away from home - everything except the chores!
We had everything we needed and anything else we could think of. The hosts were friendly and offered any advice we asked about. Sitting on the back porch we had amazing views of the valleys and mountains - it was very relaxing. I was able to make some home made dinners and feed my family some healthy items to mix in with all the treats and dinners out. The kitchen was even more stocked with equipment and spices than mine. We took our time driving to and from our activities and were amazed at the wildlife along the roads and pathways. Our boys actually looked for animals instead of burying their selves in their phones. We photographed antelope, prairie dogs, squirrels, ground hogs, a Golden Eagle, Bluebirds and many other birds. We played games at night and spent more time as a family. Overall a wonderful time - Thank you Joyce and Michael - it was everything we imagined and then some.
Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us. We are so pleased that you relaxed and enjoyed yourselves and had time for family. We love sharing this place with others. This is just what makes it great for us. We hope you come again.

Relaxing and peaceful
Amazing location, quiet and secluded. Breathtaking views of the mountains. The house was designed beautifully and was an exceptional fit for our family of 5. It was nice to have good quality skillets and baking sheets to make meals. The beds are super comfortable and there is even a reading nook upstairs. The owners were most gracious hosts and we loved having them available to answer our questions and educate our kids on various plants that grow in their lovely garden with a koi pond and greenhouse. We cancelled our plans one day just so we could stay at the house and enjoy all it has to offer. We walked all around the property breathing in clean, pine scented air and had a picnic while watching deer in the forest. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend this beautiful property for its quiet, secluded location and spectacular views. Joyce and Michael, thank you for your hospitality and letting us stay at your property.
We thoroughly enjoyed having such thoughtful, polite guests. Thanks for leaving the Lodge in such fine condition. Other hosts would be lucky to have your family stay with them...........Five Star Guests.......please come back!

Off the beaten Track, Comfort in ranch country
This is a very well equipped and comfortable home. It accommodated two couples and two young children with ease. The views are tremendous. We were a little unlucky and saw very little wildlife. The opportunities for hiking are limited and local attractions require much driving. However well recommended as a pleasant retreat from urban living.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately there is no way to transport our 80 acres and the mountain views to town! :-) (smile)
We post on the site our distance from Canon City (about 50 to 55 minutes) and from white water rafting (25 to 30 minutes). We also remind our prospective guests of this when we approve their stay in case they didn't read that on the website so that they will be sure to understand our location before they book.
We look forward to having you return. Thank you for the review and for staying with us.
Canon City (34 miles) is a charming historic town with full amenities: ATM/bank, shopping, massage, spa services, etc. Royal Gorge is 24 miles from our property with a scenic train ride and optional dining car service.
Summer Activities: White water rafting, horseback riding, zip lines, 5 golf courses, Abbey Winery Tours, scenic train ride
Winter Activities: skiing, snowmobile trails, snow shoeing, Abbey Winery Tours, scenic train ride, mountain biking with numerous trails
