About the property

8 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 20

Our house sits on 6 wooded acres, and from it’s hillside perch, enjoys broad views overlooking Bristol Lake. The property is at the end of a quiet, dead-end drive. It has frontage on Stamm Lake (a 4½ acre spring-fed pond), and from Stamm, the property line follows a stream which flows year-round down to Bristol Lake, on which the property has 125 feet of frontage. Bristol is a 165-acre all-sports lake and is excellent for fishing, swimming and all manner of watersports. We have a sandy beach which drops-off gradually until it reaches a depth of around 3 feet (appx. 20’ from shore). From there the depth falls-off more quickly, eventually reaching a depth of 45 feet at closer to 100 yards from shore. As such, the beach and lakeshore are relatively-friendly to younger children (although we recommend life jackets for non-swimmers). We have a raft which is anchored in deeper water (very safe for diving), we also have a dock to park a boat or to get young anglers closer to the many bass & bluegill which hover at the drop-off. Between the house & the shore we have a large grassy yard with enough trees to give some comfortable shade in the sunny summer afternoons. We have a hammock in the trees and a fire pit on the beach. The yard is large enough for whiffle-ball, volleyball, croquet or practically any variety of other yard games. The 6 acres of woods have a series of short trails which are fun for a short afternoon stroll.

New construction, built with premium materials and systems. At appx. 4,300sf, it has 8 bedrooms, 3½ baths and enough beds to sleep 20 (see plans in photo section). Our kitchen has large areas granite countertop, allowing many participants in food preparation. We have both a large and a small refrigerator, a double-oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, ample cabinets and a walk-in pantry. We have a large dining table as well as folding picnic tables and an umbrella table on the deck (which overlook the lake). There are areas to sit & talk on every level. The lower level has a rec room equipped with both a ping-pong and a pool table. This room opens thru 2 sliding doors onto a patio (which also overlooks the lake). A TV room on the upper level is great for kids watching late-night movies.

Bristol Lake offers a wonderful mix of active recreation and quiet relaxation. Many of the property-owners on the lake live here year-round. It is our desire to offer this vacation rental to families which will appreciate the serenity of this community and be respectful of our neighbors. Keeping noise levels low (especially after dark), maintaining slow speeds on the entry drive, and keeping the grounds in good order are all elements of making a visit satisfying to all involved. If you choose to book with us, we ask that you make a commitment to be a good neighbor.

About Ray Micham

Bristol Lake vacation home is owned by 2 families: Ray and Sue Micham, and Dan and Janel Garno. Sue and Dan are sister and brother, in a family of 15 children. Our family has, for many years, rented a vacation property to get everyone together, once a year, for a reunion celebration. About 11 years ago, we decided it was time to start our journey of finding the right property and developing it into our families' 'own' place to gather. We stumbled upon this 6 acre parcel of dense trees and brush, of which we could not even see through to the lake. We wandered around until we saw glimpses of the beautiful, quiet lake peeking through. We were sold! Once we had purchased, we formulated a long-term plan, which included a series of property improvements, and eventually we built our home. It has been a long process of getting to where we are now, and as of this past Summer, we decided to finish things up and start renting out for other families to enjoy as well. Ray and Sue live in Northwestern Ohio with their 6 children, ages 5-18. Dan and Janel live in Southern Michigan with their 6 children, ages 3-13. Our kids are all very active, and have enjoyed fishing, catching turtles, frogs, and snakes, swimming, canoeing/kayaking, and water sports during the warm months, and ice skating, sledding and ski trips during the cold months. We also enjoy taking a 1 hour and 15 minute drive over to the charming town of Sagatuk, on the coast of Lake Michigan. It is our hope that your family will also make lots of good memories and experience the relaxation, peace, and fellowship that we have found, gathered at Bristol Lake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Ray -

Thank you so much for letting us enjoy your house. We had a fantastic, relaxing Thanksgiving!

You really have a great house.

The bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets, comfortable mattresses) was great! All of us commented on how well we all slept.

The house had plenty of space for all of us.

The pantry to put all of our food was so nice to have.

The double dining room table was perfect for all of us to eat together.

All of the boys loved the pool table.

It was so nice to have the basement to be able to watch a movie - if the others were playing cards at the dining room table.

The boys loved having their "gaming" room on the 3rd level tv room - we brought one of their xbox systems.

Just being able to hook up a computer, external drive with movies or hooking up the boy's xbox system to your tv's was so nice.

Thank you again - we will spread the word on what a great place you guys have - hopefully, you will see us again.

Absolutely perfect! Our large family reunion enjoyed ourselves immensely due to this great home!

  • 5 of 5

This was a very nicely built home with plenty of space for our large family get together. The home had everything we needed and more. Very clean and spacious gave us an opportunity to spread out and be together at the same time. Situated on a large piece of land over looking a beautiful Lake allow us outdoor actives of walking, Frisbee and bond fires on the beach. Each morning was wonderful in watching the sunrise and the fog clear. We thank you and look forward to another possible stay next year.

Beautiful home for a family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We all really enjoyed the house. Ample room for 14 adults and lots of little things you can easily take for granted like extra blankets or shampoo or a bottle opener! Even had seasonings in the cabnets. Shot out to the 2 teens that came over to fix the grill too. We asked if they knew where we could get firewood and they just bought us over some. Even stacked it in a nice little pyramid. Great customer service. 10/10 would rent again.

Wonderful house, beautifully decorated and very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had a family reunion there, staying for a week. Enjoyed everything about the house and the lake! The owners did a great job making sure the guests have everything they may need, including kitchen and bathroom supplies. We travel a lot, but never stayed at a house as well stocked as this one. Thank you, Ray and Sue!

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My family and I absolutely loved our time here. The house was beautiful, modern and very well thought out. There was a group of 20 of us. Everyone had ample room to move around, and lounge. Not only was there plenty of seating inside, but there was lots of seating on the deck, and the lower level porch. There were also storage bins packed with folding chairs.

The house was stocked with bedding, towels, dish soap, misc. meds, cooking and cleaning supplies. I also appreciated that they had shampoo, conditioner and shower gel dispensers in the shower. If you can't find something, or choose to shop when you arrive, there are grocery stores about 15-20 minutes away.

As far as entertainment, our family made use of the board games, pool table and paddle boat. The sanded area was perfect for our young children. We also rented the pontoon boat. The pontoon gave us some trouble, so Sue had a someone come out to fix it, and when it couldn't be fixed, Sue offered a full refund and still gave us keys to another pontoon. In the event you choose to bring your own boat, I suggest taking it right to the boat launch down the street from the house. The driveway is very narrow, and has a steep hill, so not ideal for pulling a boat back. There were also great hiking trails just behind the home.

The only thing I would mention about this house is that the hill going up/down to the water is a little steep, so keep that in mind for children and elderly.

This house is an A+! Thanks again for everything!
