Great, quiet location. Charming older home. Needs a good deep clean.

  • 4 of 5

Wisteria Hollow is a quiet, awesome location on the water. The property is a large lot with beachfront, lawn, fruit trees, patio covered with grape arbor, and beautiful flowers. The house Is an old home with beautiful woodwork and a nice kitchen. We were surprised upon arriving that the house wasn't cleaner, especially with all of the rules attached with staying there. If it were cleaned up then it would be a first class property.

A wonderful escape for our family

  • 5 of 5

Every year we gather with 4 other families for the kids and the adults to get away and unplug from the world. We rented the Wisteria home and the smaller surf shack to accommodate everyone.

It was AMAZING. The view from the back porch is breathtaking during any part of the day. We couldn't get enough of sitting on the porch swing. Who gets to sit on it was the most argued over topic of the week. We ate outside a lot and the acessability of the grill and eating area outside were perfect. The house was great. When the kids weren't in the water exploring on the kayaks, looking for clams and sand dollars on the shore during low tide, they made good use of the open grass area everyday. Between soccer games, volleyball games (we brought our own net), and tag they were beat... which made us parents happy as they now outnumber us.

The house is old and may need some tuning here and there but that is what gives the house its charm. It's nothing to balk about. Lake houses need this kind of charm to make you feel transported to a different place. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms had plenty of hot water for all the kids to shower consecutively. The attic room with the 4 twin beds is really cute. It does get super hot in the evenings but we just turned on a few well placed fans to blow out the hot air to a top window and it was fine. The kitchen is to die for... the grill inside wasn't working but it didn't matter, since we grilled outside a lot anyway. The stove was great and handled prep for a large number of people with no problem at all.

The kayaks were such fun for the kids. They were on them all day. The life jackets were a little dated but they had all the sizes for all the kids. It was plenty for use. The waterfront is not sandy. It's a mix of rocks, broken seashells, dirt, and algae (depending on where the tide is at that time). Flip flops will not cut it. The kids brought their Chaco sandals and they worked perfectly.

Kathryn was easy to connect with and contact when I had questions and she was super helpful. It was a great experience and we can't wait to go back.

it was a 4 star place with all the amenities we needed. a few things could improve the place.

  • 4 of 5

very nice and roomy place. clean for the most part, though the throw rugs could be laundered more frequently.

no toilet paper, bring your own??? Who pays for a hotel or other accommodation and does not have those very basics?

the kitchen was delightful, so big and well stocked. there was only one dishtowel and no dish clothes. had one sponge that had been used for too long.

having so many fans in the bedrooms was great and useful.

the water play was great too. so much to see and do.

they kayaks were fun, though two of them took on water , quickly! must have holes

Sorry about the hot tub,,,,quite unusable. We had brought our suits, as it was advertised.

All in all, it was a nice weekend.

Thank you.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for you stay! For future guests I'll say that with his alert I've had the kayaks repaired. They get banged around a bit with use but are quite robust and easily repaired. The dish towels were onsite just not found by this family. If something is missing a call or email before checkout most often gets the problem resolved speedily. We leave out enough toilet paper to get your stay started but do ask guests to purchase what they need beyond the initial amount.

Great place for our first family reunion!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our days on the cove! The house provided great accommodation for six adults and two children. The rooms were comfortable and the public areas (kitchen, dining room, living room) were spacious and well-equipped, while remaining cozy. The view over the water was lovely, including harbor seals and two otters. The rocky beach provided many sea treasures to find. We used the kayaks as well. The grounds provided lots of room for the kids to run around and for us to enjoy a cookout and sit around the fire.

The property would be ideal if the inside and outside received more upkeep and repair. Nonetheless, it worked well for our needs.

There are a lot of wonderful things to enjoy in the greater Seattle area. Visitors must add some travel time to leave Key Peninsula, but that is balanced by the reasonable price for the accommodations.

Nice and Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I had a great time staying in the big house. The furnishings were quite comfortable. The views and relaxing atmosphere made for a restful week that we really enjoyed. The plants around the property were just beautiful. We even had some seals come and visit the floating docks in the mornings.

I read great reviews before I booked this place, but we did not have the same experience.

The house was dirty. Nothing had been dusted, the floors in the kitchen were disgusting and sticky. The handle to the refrigerator was broke off and the fridge was filthy. We were not left with any dish-washing tablets and had to purchase our own. We also purchased cleaner so that we could clean the fridge. The banister on your porch, overlooking the water is rotten. The hot tub was growing things and was not working. This was probably the biggest disappointment as we rented the home so that we could use that. The garbage can was a filthy mess and we had to clean that in order to even put a bag into it.

This is an annual get together for our family each year and we have rented a lot of vacation houses. This was the first house that we have ever had so many demands put upon us in regards to check in/out. We have never had to bring our own toilet paper or garbage bags. I am in disbelief, actually. We paid a lot of money to rent your house and to have to bring these items with us, seems petty.

Owner's Response: This guest was nice on the phone and left the house in fine shape. The hot tub filter and heater gave up previous to their arrival and the troubleshooting repair overlapped into their trip. When thing break down we take every effort to have them back up and running quickly. This guest was compensated for their helping to receive the service technitions. Anytime concerns arise during a stay we hope to hear of them immediately so we can resolve them. This guest only brought the spa issue to my attention and the rest of their concerns only came to light after they heard the spa wouldn't be completely fixed until the day after their stay.
