BRIEF DESCRIPTION: This beautiful four-bedroom home enjoys a prime location south of Bozeman with fantastic mountain views, lots of peace and quiet, and hiking right out the back door. Sourdough Canyon Trailhead is just up the road, and guests can enjoy a walk up to Sourdough Ridge on over 200 acres of private land.
BEDROOMS AND BATHS: Sourdough Ranch Main House has two bedrooms on the main floor. The master bedroom features a queen-size bed and connected full bathroom. The new addition downstairs features one bedroom with a king size bed and a second bedroom with 2 twins each with their own bathroom.
KITCHEN AND DINING AREA: This fully equipped and well-designed kitchen has top of the line appliances and amenities, high-end countertops, and beautiful suspended light fixtures. A gas range, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and dishwasher make meal prep and clean up easy. Its two ovens are ideal for preparing a large holiday meal for family and friends. There is a nice selection of high quality cookware and serving ware as well. The cook can chat with the family at the bar, which seats four, and a nice breakfast nook with picture windows makes it a great spot to enjoy coffee and breakfast with a view!
LIVING ROOM, FAMILY ROOM, AND GAME ROOM: The kitchen opens up into the living room with a gorgeous rock gas fireplace as the focal point, surrounded by cozy sofas and chairs and a nice selection of artwork. There is a separate family room just down the hall with a flat screen television, 12 local channels, and a DVD player. A billiard room downstairs provides a great activity for the evening, and a built-in gate prevents little ones from cruising downstairs on their own.

A nice gas grill allows for meal preparation outdoors, while you enjoy a glass of wine and the comfortable summer evening temperatures of Southwest Montana. Groves of aspen and pines surround the home, with visits from resident wildlife. Note: Views from the home are 95% stunning but Bozeman's drinking water facility is in view on the property below.
OUTDOOR AMENITIES: Enjoy 240 acres and miles of private roads and trails that are part of this property. Strategically located picnic tables at various dalliance points on the property provide stunning views up the Sourdough Canyon and the Gallatin Valley. The screened in porch has comfortable furniture large enough to sleep on a warm summer night, listening to owls and coyotes.
ACTIVITIES NEARBY: Besides hiking and mountain biking right on the property and on nearby Forest Service trails, fishing on the Gallatin River is just thirty minutes away. The stunning Hyalite Reservoir Recreation Area in the Gallatin National Forest is also a short drive away. Guests can spend time skiing at nearby Bridger Bowl, which is about 20 miles from the home. Horseback riding, rafting, golfing, tours of Yellowstone National Park, and everything that the town of Bozeman has to offer are at your fingertips.
CLOSEST TOWN AND AIRPORT: Downtown Bozeman is just six miles from the home and it’s about fourteen miles to Bozeman's Gallatin Field airport.
Loved the peace and quiet of this out of town, but not too far away, house. A very restful getaway. Two beds and two baths were equally nice. Good ATT cell and data coverage, and the house has wifi that worked well. Kitchen is very well stocked with equipment and basic seasonings, etc. There are some negative comments in the reviews about the newly constructed water treatment plant. It was a non-issue for us. It is down and to the side, and not very tall. Still plenty of great views to enjoy!
We loved this custom log home and it's setting. The open floor plan made it easy to all be together while enjoying different activities inside the home. Having a pack and play provided for my 10 month old grandson was an added bonus! The quiet serenity, views and sunsets were spectacular yet downtown was only a few minutes away.
As with any rental there are always going to be a few things that could be improved upon. Sadly, there is a huge construction project of a water treatment plant going on just below the property and their generator ran often and was very loud. It didn't affect the view as you tend to look out over it. Of course, this isn't the fault of the rental company or the owners but just an unfortunate situation. To be honest, there were a few things inside that could have been prepared for us upon our arrival. The couch bed in the TV room wasn't made up and we had a hard time finding the correct linens for it as they weren't in the hall closet. We actually didn't find them until the next day in the master closet behind the room entry door (obscure) and so created a make shift bed the first night. Also, we ran out of toilet paper & paper towels as there weren't many supplied. The outside decks were not swept and had some cob webs around the doors and windows. These are all minor things that did not affect our enjoyment of the house. We Loved it and love Bozeman!
I do want to mention that it is extremely important NOT to leave food outside and pay attention when you are BBQ'ing as we had a black bear come up on the deck during our Father's Day dinner that we were enjoying outside. We scared it away but realized that food protection is very important. We wondered if the bird feeders may also have been a draw for it.
I would stay at the Sourdough Ranch House again, for sure, while enjoying all that the Bozeman area has to offer.
We thought this home was top-notch. Cozy, clean, beautiful. Wish we could have been there in nicer weather to enjoy the beautiful outdoor living space a little more. It's so unfortunate that the water treatment plant has been built recently right below the property. I imagine the owners were not too thrilled about it. I'm sure in a few years, the landscaping will provide some relief but for now....that's a bummer. However, I'd go back. Really loved the screened in porch off the master bedroom.
We loved this house. Every detail was taken care of, nice beds and linens, plush clean white towels, hairdrier in both bathrooms, soaps, shampoo and conditioner, it was clean and the house was warm when we arrived. We enjoyed our stay and would come back anytime. Wildlife viewing from the house was spectacular, geese, ducks and cranes, deer, foxes and even a bear, what a treat.
