This rustic mountain cabin is located near the YMCA and Rocky Mountain National Park. The cabin has 2 bedrooms (Queen, Double) and sleeping loft with 2 twins. It has a 3/4 bath and kitchen. Wonderful outdoor space for picnics and watching wildlife. Surrounded by mature trees and rock outcroppings. 18.5 acres to spread out and explore.
This home can also be rented with a larger home close by that sleeps 8 for larger groups.
Summer cabin for rent from May 15- Oct 30.
Our Family vacationed every year in Estes Park, staying at the YMCA of the Rockies. Dad stumbled upon this property while exploring the area. Originally, the intention was to buy 7.5 acres, but survey revealed that cabin was set over the property line, thus purchased 11 more acres that the property currently rests on. The well water comes from a mountain spring that provides pure delicious drinking.
Steve purchased this cabin in 1977
As a place for families to gather, this place has special meaning to many of those who have stayed here. Wildlife abounds as they move up and down the nearby Wind River. Here Aspen, Spruce, Ponderosa, lodgepole pines and fauna change with the seasons, never looking quite like the same space each time you visit. Hike up the river to hidden mountain meadows, serene lakes and breathtaking views starting from the doorstep.
Many travelers take advantage of the YMCA of the Rockies many activities including swimming (indoor pool), horseshoes, craft center, tennis, miniature golf, zip lining, library, disc golf, talks around a fire, to name a few. visit http://ymcarockies.org for full details.
You will feel as though you are in a secluded cabin, million miles from anywhere and yet have downtown Estes Park a mere 5 mile drive. This is set in and among natures finest with fresh clean air and water as natural as intended.
Close enough to town to be convenient but isolated enough to feel away from it all. Cabin is clean and well equipped and previous guests left fixings for s'mores. This cabin has 360 views and a deer actually came to our door. Location inside YMCA grounds felt safe for a girl's weekend. Our last night was very blustery but the cabin stayed toasty warm inside. Would definitely stay again. Owners have been very responsive since my initial inquiry about this property.
'Intensive Care' was the perfect base of operations for our hiking trip. It's out of town, but still accessible. Seemingly remote, but easy to get to. It's position on the hill allowed us to completely ignore that there was another cabin a bit above us. The Adirondack chairs proved be a perfect place to wind up the day watching the clouds and sunset. While there appears to be room for 6 or more, the cabin suited the two us just fine. It had everything we needed to have our meals at home. We struggled initially to find the cabin, missing a couple key turns, but started over from the beginning and found it. Be aware that the initial turn off of Hwy 66/Tunnel Road into the YMCA is marked on street signs as Association Way, and that the next left turn onto Longhouse is marked on a YMCA sign, not a street sign. The turn onto Mesa is a street sign again. But in the end, finding the cabin was part of the fun.
Good For The Soul!
My family and I absolutely loved staying at this cabin, perfectly named Intensive Care! It was so peaceful and serene. Secluded, but not too far away. Fresh mountain air, magnificent views of the mountains, birds singing, wildlife just outside the window, and a small river flowing not far away. We saw several species of birds, including a lot of hummingbirds, rabbits, chipmunks, mule deer and fawns. Elk roamed the grounds of the YMCA.
The cabin was very clean, which is important to us. Steve was prompt to help us with any questions we had. It was nicely stocked with everything we needed. There is a small TV with a selection of VHS and DVD's, but no reception. Mobile and Wifi reception comes and goes. Personally, I was happy for this electronics down time! There is a closet with a good selection of board games and several decks of cards. There is also a small take-a-book/leave-a book library in the back room. Nice touch!
The cabin is close to Estes Park and the RMNP. Stop by Kind Coffee in Estes Park for a great cup of coffee or other hot/cold drinks. So much to do in the area! My family and I enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend this cabin!
This lovely cabin had all the comforts we were looking for in addition to having privacy, peace and quiet. This is our first experience with VRBO and it did not disappoint. The cabin was super clean and well maintained. You can definitely tell the owners are not only organized but they are thoughtful and truly appreciate giving others the pleasure and opportunity to share their space to create family memories.
We loved this cabin. We were only able to book for 3 nights, but in the future, we would love to book for more. We enjoyed access to hiking, the city of Estes, and events at the YMCA. We regretted not having as much time to "unwind" as we would have liked at the cabin, but could not have asked for a more family friendly location. This was our first HomeAway experience, and it did not disappoint. Thank you, Steve, for being so informative and friendly.
Loved every minute of our stay. The cabin itself is very modest and basic, but clean. It was exactly as described. The location of the cabin is perfection. No TV and the DVD player didn't really work, but that's ok. Phone and Internet access very unreliable. Once again, not a big deal. Steve was easy to work with. We stayed for 4 nights. Next time we will stay a week!
Located within YMCA of the Rockies and neighbors Rocky Mountain National Park. Trails begin outside the door. Take a short hike along Wind River and watch beaver, stumble across deer eating beries from bushes or an elk or moose feeding. Aspen and giant spruce abound in this ever changing valley.
The YMCA facilities may be accessed by anyone who is a member of their local YMCA or a small daily fee can be paid. The "Y" offers programs for kids to entertain and educate them throughout the week. Horseback riding, mini golf, frisbee golf, indoor pool, craft shop and many other activities welcome you. Stop into the Administration building and ask for the weeks program to see what interests you.
A more extensive hike may be had following Wind River up to waterfalls, grassy meadows and the twinkling of the aspen trees. Lily lake can be accessed and set up a point to look over the town of Estes Park & Lake Estes.
Emerald mountain is steep but affords a great vantage point of where you are staying and the area around it. Going over or around it affords you greater access to some of the more popular destinations within Rocky Mountain National Park.
