Wonderful and restful home!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful stay we had! The views are amazing! We loved the large fireplace downstairs and drinking hot tea each morning while enjoying views of the water and snow capped mountains. Large, well stocked kitchen with great appliances. All bathrooms were very clean with thick linens provided. We enjoyed listening to music and playing around on the top floor of this home. It is a large open area with wooden floors and a fireplace. All of the beds were very comfortable and I can't stress enough how clean this home is! The large master walk in shower with a sauna inside is amazing! The homeowner is very friendly and responds quickly to any questions. We will definitely be back! We walked the beach front and even got to see a submarine pass in front of the home. Such a great place to rest and enjoy time away with our family! Wonderful memories made! A must stay!

Grand home in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

The house served our wedding party of ten with rooms and baths for all. The house is clean and well equipped and the surroundings are lush and quiet. The sunset view from the deck and firepit is spectacular. Communications with the owner were prompt and easy. Definitely a place I'd like to spend more time on an extended getaway with a group of friends.

The house is huge to fit my big family. It has a nice view of water and mountain.

  • 5 of 5

Everyone loves the loft, so we can be together at the same time. The house has enough rooms for the older generation to sleep quietly. The stair inside the house is very safe. All of us tried the sauna and loved it. We enjoyed the fire pit, going down to the beach and looking at the sunset. Thank you

Beautiful Home needs some TLC

  • 3 of 5

The house and the view are spectacular. No complaints there. What surprised us was the apparent lack of maintenance and care. The wraparound porch had several hanging planters with dead plants in them. One pillar style post has become detached and needs repair (one of us made the mistake of trying to lean against it and quickly discovered it was not safe.) The gas grill is so old and rusted that it was almost unusable. In fact it was not working when we checked it out and the caretaker had to be called to work on it. He was able to replace the part that was not working so we could light it. But we hardly used it and resorted to using the inside grill on the kitchen stove. The side of the detached garage had a row of 7 metal cans that were all full of disgusting smelly garbage. The recycle bin was full. After calling the caretaker we found he had only removed enough garbage from the first can so we could stuff our garbage bags into it and only removed enough recycle so we could add a top layer. After we had been there a couple of days an animal found a way to get into one of the cans and left garbage strewn on the ground. We called and reported it but felt no obligation to pick it up ourselves as we were on a family vacation. It was never cleaned up. There were lamps and lights in the house that were unusable because they had no lightbulbs or were not functional. Again, we called about it. The only light that was replaced was in the large walk in shower in the master bedroom suite. Good thing because with no windows there it was like a dark cave until the light was working again. There were plenty of towels but they were all pretty old, some of them being threadbare and others having stains on them. Bottom line is I had to call almost every day to ask for something to be fixed. This was an expensive house to rent for our annual family reunion. We expected it to be very nice and it was but was in much needed repair and upkeep. We made the best of it for our family's sake. We had wonderful fun times together. Going down (very safe) stairs to the beach below, sitting around a lovely fire in the fire pit and watching the sunset, sitting down to meals together around the large dining room table. I'm not sure where the lack of attention to details lies; with the owner (who we were told lives in New York), with the manager (who we never saw) or with the caretakers who always responded but only to provide the minimum of what was asked for.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the review. As for the plants. It is tough to keep some plants alive during the summer as we do not ask our guests on their vacations to water our plants and some groups, like the reviewer stay entire weeks. The grill is on the older side and will be replaced soon. Our garbage day is Monday and some guests fill all the cans. During the summertime garbage can be smelly, but the cans are located around the other side of the garage. Well away from the house. Garbage goes out weekly be our caretakers. As for animals getting into the garbage, it happens. We are a sucluded location and have wildlife all around. We provide bungy cords and have metal cans. If secured properly this won't happen. Me, the manager, never once heard from your group once during your stay. Even when I'm on vacation I have my phone which has The VRBO app. I always promptly answer all texts and phone calls and would have been happy to ensure any of this would get fixed asap. We do have plenty of towels on hand. Some of them are lightly used. We do have groups of 25 and need to make sure we have enough for everyone. Bottom line is that the issues on this review could have easily been fixed quickly with a call to the manager. If you are having any issues what so ever the person in charge needs to be notified if you expect prompt action. The house is very nice and does need some repair, but the same goes for any house.

Exceeded expectations in every way

  • 5 of 5

My daughter got married Memorial Day weekend at Kitsap Memorial State Park and we rented this gorgeous large home for family members and the wedding party. We had a family-only dinner there Friday night, a larger friends dinner there Saturday night, and a wedding after-party there Sunday night, and it was a marvelous experience all three days and nights. The views are gorgeous, the house is well-stocked with all you could want, and the house gracefully absorbs people with many spots for smaller groups to gather -- a porch with seating, a beautiful lawn that slopes down to the water, a second floor cozy den, several balconies, and a sprawling spacious third floor. Friday night we gathered around the piano to sing, and Saturday night we had toasts to the bride and groom out on the lawn under the gorgeous tall trees as the sun set over the mountains and water. Working with the owner to make rental arrangements was flawless and he was always super-responsive to all our questions. Cannot recommend this more highly!

The house, backyard and beach are great.

  • 5 of 5

The house has a wonderful view of the river and Olympic mountain range. View of sunset from the backyard is very beautiful. The campfire experience was great. Also, the 3rd floor is a great space for gathering for a large group. Kids and adults enjoyed the stay.
