This small house is ideally located between South Congress and South 1st St, and is less than 2 miles from the heart of downtown. Monthly rental may be prorated pending arrival and departure dates. With one queen bed, one double bed, and a couch that can optionally pull out into an additional double bed, this traditionally low-key Austin residence can reasonably sleep 4-6. The large backyard features a stone patio situated beneath a 150 year old oak tree and is ideal for winding down after a night out. Full kitchen includes refrigerator, oven/stove, washer/dryer and microwave. Keep in touch with fast internet, Cable and Netflix. Stay in the heart of SoCo and be within easy walking distance of The Continental Club, Magnolia Cafe, Polvos, Sway, Elizabeth Street Cafe, Guero's Taco Bar, Homeslice Pizza, Bouldin Creek Cafe, and dozens of other classic Austin hot-spots.

Our third trip to the most convenient spot in SOCO. A great two weeks and can’t wait to come back next year.
We love Austin and great SoCo location
It was a great location, we were able to get in some great walks, restaurants, music, Zilker Park, the Boardwalk, Blunn Creek, 1st Street and on and on. The yard and neighbors were great, but curious. Even to drive to a museum, Waterloo Records, downtown, and Central Market was easy as long as you stay off 35. The wonderful weather helped too.
Nice owners, but a down-market experience
Trying to be balanced in writing this review... Owner is lovely, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. Owner left a nice welcome package for us and the home is finished as described on the site. The location is STELLAR. However, in my opinion, this is not a suitable place to rent out to others as the home is in a state of disrepair. Some of the issues -- Two bedrooms, no bedroom doors. One bathroom (in a bedroom). No indoor eating table. Outdoor table quite dirty and no tablecloths to cover it. The floor tiles are cracked and not safe to walk around barefoot in the hall or kitchen. All windows are covered and none of the window coverings can be drawn up. There are two beds, but the queen innerspring mattress is not set on either slats or a box spring (only on metal a bed frame) so not properly supported. THERE WERE BEDBUGS IN THE HOME!!! On our first night we found a used sanitary napkin in the full bed. There is not a complete set of cutlery (there were only 3 forks in the house). There is a hole in wall by the back door. We had to buy soap and toilet paper as there was almost none of either when we arrived. On the plus side, the Wifi works well. Window air conditioning units work well. Living room is comfortable. Decor in the entire house is cute. IMO, the owner has put a lot of money into the surface features of the home to make it look cute , but needs to address some core issues before renting the house out to others.
Second trip to the property, hope to be back next year. Best location in SOCO area.
Cozy No, Frills Austin Family Holiday
This property was as described, cozy and no frills. The backyard space was definitely a plus. We were a family of 3 adults with extended family stopping by to spend time. This place suited our needs. There was no table for meals but again the outside space could be used. Nice to have a washer and dryer in the kitchen ( also serve as much needed extra counter space ). Lighting was really limited in the kitchen. WE would recommend the owner add some additional lighting somehow. Plenty of hot water and the bedding was new or nearly new. Both bedrooms comfortable. The bottom line is that this is the home of the property owner and her space needs to be respected. She was available when we had questions even over the holidays. The location is perfect sandwiched between SoCo and South 1st streets. Lots to do and see for food, sights and entertainment. Great neighborhoods for strolling. We had a wonderful time and made memories to last a lifetime. Thanks!
Great Soco location with character.
Thank you Amy for sharing your home. I agree with a previous review stating if you are looking for a place with great SOCO location, character, good price and a fun Austin vibe this 2 bedroom accomodation works well. If you are looking for a newly renovated hotel with ameneties this should not be your first choice. The master bedroom is spacious with a small bureau, the 2nd bedroom is small with no closet or bureau. There are several hassacks and small end tables you can use as luggage stands to compensate. It was clean but an older property that could use updates but for the price it was worth it for us. There are plenty of extra blankets etc. in the closet. We found the "L" shaped sectional in the living room very comfortable and fun for the 4 of us to lounge on. There is a huge backyard with some party lights that makes this corner lot attractive when weather allows. We enjoyed having a full sized fridge, coffee maker, microwave and stove for our use. We liked the fact that we could walk to C-Boys and Continental club for live music. There are also several shops, thrift stores, Allen Boots, a natural food store, an herb store, and a handful of restaurants you can walk to. Its located between S. Congress and S.1st so it is close to everything but not noisy. When we did have a question, we got a quick response. We spent a lot of time downtown as well. It is a very short drive or you can take a bus or cab. Austin really IS the music capital of the US. Sooo much music all day long if you look for it. We had a great time. We averaged 3 bands a day. Go to a Sunday gospel brunch for sure but you should make reservations!!!
