Why Michael chose Acadia

The views!

What makes this cottage unique

Set on an idyllic stretch of coastline on the Blue Hill Sound with the Eggamogin reach just to the south. Watch the sail boat sail past!

The property itself is set on 3+ acres with 200 feet of private beach frontage. It is quiet and private with plenty of outdoor living space for those great long evenings. We have beautiful mature maple/oak/aspen trees to shade under with magnificent 180 degree panoramic views of the ocean. The lobster pounds are close by too, less than 2 minutes drive or a 10 minute walk. Great beach combing right at your doorstep step. The property is only 40 minutes to Arcadia National Park. The perfect getaway for the family

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lovely cottage setting on Blue Hill Bay

  • 5 of 5

This worked out very nicely for us, especially with the separate cottages for our family. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed being on the water.

Hope to stay again!

Wonderful and secluded. Great for families!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six including kids aged 8 months to 7 years spent a very relaxing week at this property. The cottages are small but very well appointed and really all you need for the location. We did spend a lot of time moving between the two cottages as the thing we needed always seemed to be in the other cottage. But that was absolutely fine as it was an excuse to get outside which is why we were there to begin with.

We brought three kayaks of our own and we spent most of our time paddling around right in front of the cottages or up to the sandbar about 100 yards south along the coast. The tides are dramatic at this site! Be ready to carry your kayaks a long way at low tide and make sure you pull them up high for the high tide!

The yard includes a gas grill and a rudimentary fire pit which was used every night mostly to toast marshmallows. There is a rental property very close to the north edge of the property but we were lucky to have a very nice family from Ohio staying next door.

We did spend two days in Acadia which is about an hour's drive from this property. But, if I'm honest, I enjoyed Blue Hill far more. Too many people in Acadia!

In short, if you're looking for a getaway and enjoy the ocean, this property is for you. You will feel like you are million miles from civilization, but you can just drive across the street to get succulent lobsters.

Highly recommended!

Nature lover's retreat

  • 5 of 5

The location is just perfect for those who love the water and being away from it all yet close enough to wherever your interests take you. What was originally planned with four teenagers and our dog turned into myself and my two sons who loved having their own cottage. The first morning I was up just after sunrise and wandered a few feet down to the water to see an eagle flying past me....a great way to start a vacation. We spent several days visiting Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor, kayaking in the fog which was surreal to say the least, antiquing and just enjoying all the surrounding towns. Back at the cottages we grilled dinner each night and the boys loved their bonfires. On our last night we heard the crows being a bit feisty so we went outside to find an eagle perched on top of one of the pine trees. I just can't say enough about how peaceful and serene this location is and loved waking up every morning to sit outside with my book and breakfast. The owners were always very prompt in their replies to any of my questions prior to the trip. I would most definitely come back here again and have already told my friends about this little gem!

Wonderful Maine oceanfront vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We visited the Blue Hill area to attend a local high school graduation and spend time with military friends in the area. Other than the graduation we did not have an agenda. We spent one day visiting nearby Acadia National Park and it's amazing views. The other days we spent at the cabins! The view of the ocean is the perfect backdrop to sit on the deck and read a book or watch for local wildlife. We spent lots of time combing the shore during low tide for shells, sea glass, and sea "creatures" as the kids would say. At night the view of the stars was the best I've ever seen. Tried some local delicious lobster cooked in the lobster pot over the fire. It had everything to escape the hustle and bustle of evryday life. A wonderful family vacation surrounded by all that Maine nature has to offer. The owners always answered any questions I had prior to arrival in a timely manner. They were also very helpful with suggestions of nearby attraction/facilities while staying at their amazing property. Was a great experience all around. Hope to return again in the future

Owner's Response: Glad you had a wonderful time! A good time to sit on the deck is in the morning, and you may get lucky and see the bald eagle in the trees. That's a sight to behold.

NewZealanders loved this waters edge Summer Home .

  • 5 of 5

We arrived from New Zealand for a course at the Wooden Boat School in Brooklin and with Blue Hill and wonderful attractions close nearby stayed much longer than planned. (Thankyou Michael and Mei). Top marks in all respects and as an older couple found it a wonderful example of a genuine waterfront Maine summer home we had always read about. It must be the best ever destination for families of all ages. Everything was as, or more than advertised and we have decided to return again in 2015.

South Blue Hill is a short distance to several quaint townships like Blue Hill and Brooklin (Wooden Boat School). In the summer there are numerous farms stands selling local produce (eggs, vegetables, fruit, lobsters). There is a town dock just 500 yards down the road for launching your boat.
