About Laura

This land has been in the family since the 1940s when our grandparents bought the property so the family could gather together and escape the heat of summer.

We offer very limited weeks of availably during the early summer (May and June) and late summer/fall (September and October) so that we can share it with you, and also be able to enjoy family time at 'Glory Be'.

Come experience what generations before us have discovered...the magic of the coast of Maine and all its "Glory". 518*573*7838

Beautiful location

  • 4 of 5

Overlooking the sea and Mount Desert Island the location is incredible. We kayaked along the shore with easy access to the water and cycled to and from the lobster shack up the road. The house has great facilities, a full complement of household items. Our only minor issues were the lack of a Blu-ray/ DVD player or something to play music through, eg a stereo system or iPod connected speaker. The owners left us all the information on the local region you could possibly need and made great recommendations for things to do and places to eat.

Gorgeous View and Comfortable Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We were lucky with great weather and enjoyed the views from the deck and the water across to Mount Desert Island. The house is very comfortable, the kitchen and bathrooms well-stocked with everything you need. We got a couple of clear nights to enjoy an amazing night sky and, during the day, loved watching the butterflies and bumblebees in the meadow. Perry's is highly recommended for lobster and blueberry pie (and you can pick up if the weather is not cooperating) and so is Pugnuts for ice cream! We met Laura, as well, who was so nice and welcoming! We had a great family stay and would highly recommend this as a place to get away from it all...including the lack of phone signal!

Wonderful week

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is lovely and wonderfully equipped. The pictures from HA are accurate and depict exactly what you'll find. It's hard to leave the property and the deck to go exploring the area. We spent many hours enjoying the views from the deck including beautiful sunrises. The kitchen is perfect for cooking with everything you could need. The owner is attentive and involved and replied to questions promptly. The beds and linens are comfortable and there are more than enough towels and anything you could need.

The property is private and quiet. From the beach area, you have your own private beach cove to enjoy.

Exceptional Cottage for Vacation

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful layout inside and out, optimized for a summer seaside vacation stay. Phenomenal open space deck, lots of yard space, and direct waterfront access. Expansive views of the bay and Mt Desert Island/Acadia in the distance, as well as fields that light up with fireflys at night. Cozy on the inside with a lovely fireplace, open living/dining area, and very comfortable bedrooms/beds. Very clean and well appointed. Property is also very private. Shoreline is rocky however there is a more traditional beach a few miles up the road with a great lobster shack for having fresh steamed lobsters, etc outside on pier. Location is 45 min from the Acadia national park and 15-20 min drive from quaint towns of Blue Hills and Ellsworth - both of which offer shopping options for provisions as well as restaurants, shops, and an art scene. Overall very pleased with our choice and would book again without hesitation.

Moon over Acadia.

  • 5 of 5

We lived on the covered deck which offers spectacular views of Acadia. During our stay a full moon rose over Cadillac Mtn at sunset which was spectacular. The house was well supplied and the location is private and beautiful. A special thanks to Laura (manager) for her many great recommendations and always timely responses. Our hope is to return to this special property again next year.

Peaceful and secluded - great flexible owner!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here over Labor Day weekend and had such a wonderful time. The home was well taken care of on a large peaceful property right on the waterfront with beautiful views of Acadia. The owners were very accomodating with our arrival dates and everything else we needed - so great to work with. Can't wait to go back!
