Mountain Lake Serenity

If you want both mountain breezes and the serenity of a water-side retreat, this mountain chalet is perfect for your next vacation. Nestled on the banks of Ashe Lake in southern Ashe County in the mountains of western North Carolina, this home offers cozy indoor living spaces and multiple outdoor recreation spots.

Decorated with attention to both comfort and class, the home has wide-planked flooring; tiled, oversized showers; granite countertops; sprawling, first-floor living spaces for relaxation; and two fireplaces. A wood-burning, stone fireplace warms two sitting areas. A third sitting area on the main floor offers ample space for guests to relax. The galley kitchen has granite countertops, a dishwasher, and seating for 8. The main floor has a full bath and a stacked washer/dryer. On the second floor, 3 bedrooms have sleeping for 7 adults. The second full bath is conveniently located between 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed, its own private deck overlooking the lake, and a wood-burning fireplace.

If you aren’t snuggled by a fire in winter, gazing out onto the lake from a wall of windows, you may prefer the fire pit on a brisk, autumn evening. Plenty of outdoor seating, two picnic areas, a wraparound-gated deck to secure your pup, a covered cabana at the dock all add to the ambience and enjoyment of this special chalet by the lake. The sun sets behind the home, so you can bask on lazy afternoons in the shade on the deck or in the yard which rolls down to the water’s edge.

Come. Enjoy the quiet serenity of the mountains in this tranquil second-home community.

The owners have also provided a “Things to See and Do” notebook with area attractions and local restaurant menus for when you want to venture out to the Jeffersons. Firewood is available for purchase; call ahead to order.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was comfy and cozy, felt like home away from home. It was the perfect setting for a wonderful family Christmas. It was great getting to share some quality time with the entire family and enjoying the beautiful nature and surroundings. It was made even more magical since it was the perfect setting for a very much planned engagement proposal that I assisted my brother with who got engaged to my long time best friend. It was a long time coming 10 yrs in the making but they are perfect for one another and it was even more special that it was able to be done surrounded by all the family. We loved them and wish them many more years of continued happiness. Thanks for the experience & extending your rental.

Great Lakeside Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our visit! The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plenty of room and great views. The window units and ceiling fans are there if the weather is warm. Outdoor fire pit is great for cool evenings & s'mores. Pictures of property are accurate. 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are connected, but can be divided by a retractable door. Cell service is spotty, but there is internet and satellite TV - kids loved it! We enjoyed fishing from the dock- my husband brought a light & extension cords with us, so that we had light down at the dock once the sun went down - we spent a lot of time on the dock! Swimming is discouraged and considered "at your own risk," big disappointment for me - could't get my teens in the water and our inflatables stayed packed. We tried to rent kayaks, but couldn't find a company that would deliver to the property. You will need all-wheel drive if you plan to go down the driveway, but there is alternative parking. All of the roads within the lakeside community are gravel, fyi. Our GPS directions to the trash collection center were incorrect, fyi, but we found it. Neighbors are friendly! Learn to fly fish, we did! Take a trip into Todd, look up River Girl Fishing Co. The house is very close to town, but far enough away that you feel like you're away. We would stay here again!

Peaceful, Relaxing, and a perfect getaway!!!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway, this is the house for you. Located on a clean, deep, and stocked lake, this house was perfect for me to go fishing and swimming. My wife loved the mountains in the back ground as well as the proximity to local restaurants, shops, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. We were able to be in town in 10 minutes, hike Mount Jefferson within 10 minutes of our house, or just relax on a lake surrounded by trees. It was the perfect location to enjoy the stars at night and just relax. We recommend this to EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful, peaceful place on a lake

  • 5 of 5

The inside of the house was OK, clean, comfortable, well-equipped kitchen. The outside was fantastic. Meals on the deck with up and down views of the lake, hanging out on the dock, enjoying dark skies with stars and an evening fire. Everything we wanted. Ashe Lake is a hidden jewel.
