This luxury 3 story log cabin is located in Somers, Montana over looking pristine Flathead Lake. Flathead Lake is the largest fresh water lake west of the Mississippi. The large wrap around deck offers spectacular views of the lake and surrounding woods. The cabin sits on 5 wooded acres with abundant wildlife. Somers is very conveniently located between Lakeside and the city of Kalispell. Bigfork is only about 9 miles East. This cabin is not suitable for children under 5 years of age. Autumn is a great time to visit the Flathead as the weather is cooler and the crowds are gone! We look forward to your visit.

Seclusion and Awesome View

  • 5 of 5

We loved the view! The property is exactly as described- well kept, well stocked, bed was comfortable, ample linens, Wi-Fi worked well. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the evening. Happy to have the ceiling fans and the extra box fans with the unusually hot weather the week we stayed. We would highly recommend this property. We already received our security deposit!

Wonderful VIew, all the amenities of home!!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking to stay somewhere that we could cook meals as we don't like eating out and have a nice view with no neighbors right next door. This was definitely it! 4 of us stayed here with room to spare. I could work downstairs while the others slept in the early morning hours and we had plenty of room. Everything we could need to cook was there and even an entire drawer of spices! (we forgot those) We never turned on the wonderful TV as the view was amazing and we were outside any time we were there. Hiking and kayaking were our favorites (I had over 25000 Fitbit steps daily!) and it was very breezy in the house most days. The evenings were awesome as the sun doesn't set until about 10pm (we were there summer solstice) The bedrooms were great and we each had our own bath, which made getting ready easier. 3 couples can easily stay here, there is plenty of room. We all came away renewed and were really sad to leave. It was an awesome week and the few questions we had were met with kindness from Janice, who was great and either answered the phone right away or got back to us quickly. Communications were always great which was much appreciated. The place is more wonderful than the pics and the pics are amazing! We had an awesome time in the area with so much to do (Must visit West Glacier, it was amazing) and the views from the house are just as amazing! We were very busy with a family wedding a few days in Kalispell, and wish we would have spent more time just sitting at the house. We have stayed at some awesome VRBO's, our first in the mountains, and as stated, your breath will be taken away by the views. Oh, and there is still snow in the mountains, awesome view this time of year! Thank you Janice for such a wonderful experience!!

Awesome get away

  • 5 of 5

From waking up in the morning with deer just outside your window to watching soaring eagles in the evening to the peace and quite it does not get any better. With Kellispell being a very short drive you can be a busy or as lazey as you want. The log house was fantastic and the views of the lake and mountains are beautiful. The wrap around deck will give you as much shade or sunlight, you pick. So much to see and do. The history of the area is very interesting.

To sum it up "Great place for a get away"

Les

Our awesome Montana vacation

  • 4 of 5

Our family came up to visit with our sister and her husband who worked in Polson. There were four of us staying at the cabin for the week, but it could've easily fit 6 to 8 people. Janice, the owner spared no expense when decorating their cabin! The sheets, linens, pillows and comforters were comfortable and beautiful. The chairs in the living room were so comfortable that it put my brother in law right to sleep.

Don't be shy of the convection oven either. It cooks quite efficiently once you learn where to adjust temps. I do wish there was a oven temperature guage. Janice touted that there were plenty of spices provided and boy, was she not kidding! You open up a drawer and boom, the whole space has a nice spice rack in it which holds easily, 50 spice jars. Loved it. The only thing about the kitchen is its set up for only one person really moving about. We had wished the island had come out just a foot or so.

The views were magnificent and being an artist, I did do some sketches and a watercolor while sitting on the deck. There is a nice TV there, but it seems the satellite channels are set up mostly for movies and children. We didn't see many sports channels.

Luckiky, we weren't there to watch TV.

The road coming into the place is gravel and you must take it slowly, but we always saw some sort of animal each time we went into town. Be sure not to leave food out on the deck. I saw evidence of black bear while looking for pine cones.

The town of Somers is very small but there are so many other towns within a 20 mile radius that we had plenty of places to go. Make sure you see Glacier National Park. It is so beautiful and if you hike, even better. I can't hike anymore, so we took the Red Bus tour which was very good ( a little cramped though)..

It was a great trip and the Sumner cabin just made it that much more special!

Thanks Janice for everything.

Privacy, Beautiful Views and More...

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Sumner Cabin was a majestic time! We enjoyed magnificent views of the Flathead Lake and surrounding areas from the spacious deck and huge windows of this log home. The drive up to the cabin from Highway 93 was always an adventure. We would see wild life abound from wild turkey and chicks to mother deer with newly dropped fawns. The cabin is located only a few miles from Kalispell, Whitefish, Bigfork and the gem of the northwest, Glacier National Park. We truly recommend the "Road to the Sun" for a days adventure away from this wonderful cabin. The cabin had all the accommodations necessary for our three couples and the master suite had a wonderfully relaxing Jacuzzi Tub that we all enjoyed. The kitchen was spacious enough for all of us to enjoy family dining every night. Even though the owners had provided recommendations for superb dining in the area, we chose to prepare our own meals at the cabin and enjoy the peace and quiet of the woods. We all agreed that we would highly recommend this cabin to our family and friends and hope to make a return visit in the near future.

Great visit

  • 5 of 5

The house exceeded our expectations. Room enough for 2 couples and 2 teenage boys with a lot of privacy. View from the deck was great with an awesome view of Flathead Lake and the Mission mountains. Close to many activities - fishing on Flathead Lake, hiking in Glacier National Park, golf, etc.
