About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6

This luxury 3 story log cabin is located in Somers, Montana over looking pristine Flathead Lake. Flathead Lake is the largest fresh water lake west of the Mississippi. The large wrap around deck offers spectacular views of the lake and surrounding woods. The cabin sits on 5 wooded acres with abundant wildlife. Somers is very conveniently located between Lakeside and the city of Kalispell. Bigfork is only about 9 miles East. This cabin is not suitable for children under 5 years of age. Autumn is a great time to visit the Flathead as the weather is cooler and the crowds are gone! We look forward to your visit.

Our awesome Montana vacation

  • 4 of 5

Our family came up to visit with our sister and her husband who worked in Polson. There were four of us staying at the cabin for the week, but it could've easily fit 6 to 8 people. Janice, the owner spared no expense when decorating their cabin! The sheets, linens, pillows and comforters were comfortable and beautiful. The chairs in the living room were so comfortable that it put my brother in law right to sleep.

Don't be shy of the convection oven either. It cooks quite efficiently once you learn where to adjust temps. I do wish there was a oven temperature guage. Janice touted that there were plenty of spices provided and boy, was she not kidding! You open up a drawer and boom, the whole space has a nice spice rack in it which holds easily, 50 spice jars. Loved it. The only thing about the kitchen is its set up for only one person really moving about. We had wished the island had come out just a foot or so.

The views were magnificent and being an artist, I did do some sketches and a watercolor while sitting on the deck. There is a nice TV there, but it seems the satellite channels are set up mostly for movies and children. We didn't see many sports channels.

Luckiky, we weren't there to watch TV.

The road coming into the place is gravel and you must take it slowly, but we always saw some sort of animal each time we went into town. Be sure not to leave food out on the deck. I saw evidence of black bear while looking for pine cones.

The town of Somers is very small but there are so many other towns within a 20 mile radius that we had plenty of places to go. Make sure you see Glacier National Park. It is so beautiful and if you hike, even better. I can't hike anymore, so we took the Red Bus tour which was very good ( a little cramped though)..

It was a great trip and the Sumner cabin just made it that much more special!

Thanks Janice for everything.

Jane and family

Privacy, Beautiful Views and More...

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Sumner Cabin was a majestic time! We enjoyed magnificent views of the Flathead Lake and surrounding areas from the spacious deck and huge windows of this log home. The drive up to the cabin from Highway 93 was always an adventure. We would see wild life abound from wild turkey and chicks to mother deer with newly dropped fawns. The cabin is located only a few miles from Kalispell, Whitefish, Bigfork and the gem of the northwest, Glacier National Park. We truly recommend the "Road to the Sun" for a days adventure away from this wonderful cabin. The cabin had all the accommodations necessary for our three couples and the master suite had a wonderfully relaxing Jacuzzi Tub that we all enjoyed. The kitchen was spacious enough for all of us to enjoy family dining every night. Even though the owners had provided recommendations for superb dining in the area, we chose to prepare our own meals at the cabin and enjoy the peace and quiet of the woods. We all agreed that we would highly recommend this cabin to our family and friends and hope to make a return visit in the near future.

Great visit

  • 5 of 5

The house exceeded our expectations. Room enough for 2 couples and 2 teenage boys with a lot of privacy. View from the deck was great with an awesome view of Flathead Lake and the Mission mountains. Close to many activities - fishing on Flathead Lake, hiking in Glacier National Park, golf, etc.

The best cabin we have ever been to!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this cabin for a week in June 2015 and even though - after visiting the VRBO website with those many nice pictures - our expectations were high everything still exceeded our expectations. This place is so beautiful – from the view down to the lake and the snow-capped mountains beyond to the cabin and everything that is inside.

The outside deck, the spacious living room and the beautiful bedrooms with their ceiling-fans, the large bathrooms and the lovely kitchen area were perfectly clean and well equipped with rustic and certainly quite expensive furniture. There was a lot of space and everything looked as if a professional designer had been trusted with the task of creating a very special environment.

We admired how much love went into each and every detail and all the wonderful decorations and fell in love with a little sculpture of four bears playing cards by Jeff Fleming. We found him and his shop nearby in Kalispell and bought a souvenir that we will take home to Germany and it will always remind us of our perfect stay here!

Thank you Janice, if we can we will be back!

Exceptional!

  • 5 of 5

We have vacationed in VRBO rentals in the past, but none have compared to the Somer's Cabin. We stayed for two weeks, and wished we had booked it for two more weeks! It was exceptional on all accounts! Very clean, well stocked, incredibly comfortable beds, scenery beyond description overlooking Flathead Lake, and our hosts were wonderful to work with. They were very easy to contact and always responded quickly to our emails. We highly recommend this very comfortable, luxurious cabin to anyone vacationing in Northwestern Montana. We loved it!

Beautiful home & view

  • 5 of 5

Four 50 and 60 year old siblings and spouses shared this home for a week in August 2013. (One couple slept in a camper parked outside the home.) The home itself was beautiful, as was the view. The owner was responsive and flexible. We had only one issue--too many yellow jackets to enjoy the porch. We didn't call to complain, but realized we should have, as the owner says she would have sent pest control folks. I would definitely book this home again if we were in the area wanting to visit Flathead Lake or Glacier NP.
