Great location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. The location is fantastic - we walked everywhere. The owner was very attentive and responsive by email. We would highly recommend staying here.

Convenient Location

  • 3 of 5

You can't ask for a better location. We hardly had to use our car. Michael is very nice and responsive to any issues that might arise.

The apartment is adequate. The finishes could use some refining and completion. The kitchen is fully functional and it was a plus to have the washer and dryer so convenient. It would have been nice to have had blinds on all the bedroom windows for privacy and brightness (semi-sheer curtains aren't enough). The bedrooms are not close to the bathrooms so it would have been nice to have small tables in them to place clothes and toiletries. The armoires in both bedrooms were in disrepair and could not be used and the only mirrors were in the bathroom (medicine cabinets).

This rental was in the perfect location! Loved the parking set up and that we could easily walk out the door and head across the street to the store or down to the mall for ice cream. It worked well for our family of four and pup! Michael was fantastic to work with, very helpful and even graciously agreed to mail a left behind item to us!

While the apt is clean and conveniently located to Washington Mall, there were several issues. First the staircase to get up to the apt is long and steep and not safe for children or elderly. The hardwood floors are desperately in need of refinishing. The furniture is old and depressing. The "porch" consistents of 2 chairs on the roof overlooking a parking lot.

There is a huge dinasour of an air conditioner in the master bedroom which makes a lot of noise. The place is dog friendly (except for that staircase) but has no ambience at all.

Next time we will leave the dog at home and go to Regent Beach or Congress Hall. The price is not appropriate for a place in this condition.

Owner's Response: I'm quite surprized to receive such a negative review. I heard no complaints from you during your stay. I would have been happy to atleast attempt to please you. I'm terribly sorry that you do not like our decor. All the furniture minus the two antique armoires are brand new (bought just 2 years ago). And the AC unit in the master bedroom that you described as a "dinosaur" was purchased less than a year ago. Also our backyard grill and picnic tables are less than a month in age. I take pride in properly representing our rental. I'm not sure what you were expecting beyond the photographs and description.

Bright, cheerful, clean Cape May escape!

  • 5 of 5

Exactly as advertised in terms of great location and excellent property. The space is lovely and clean, and well laid out. We didn't use half of it, and could easily have accommodated 2 other people. Our dog was comfortable and happy, and the renters downstairs had dogs too so we never worried about bothering other guests. It poured one day, and the rental was comfy and cozy enough that we thoroughly enjoyed snuggling down for a rainy netflixathon. We also had an issue with a window breaking while we were there, and Michael and his father-in-law prompt and kind in helping us out. Also, the Blue Rose located across the street is outstanding!!! Highly recommend, and I hope to return for another week next year!

Great Location and Neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

I loved the layout of the house... and the location is perfect... close to everything: beach, promenade, shops and restaurants! In addition to all the shops on the Washington Street Mall, there's a couple of cool shops right next door: 609 & The Juice Caboose. Take a stroll around the block down Hughes Street and enjoy the beautiful residential homes. There's so much to do.... went to the winery, the brewery, had lunch on the Schooner at the Lobster House, did a few tours and the horse/buggy ride, took a ride to Harpoon Henry's and went to the dog-friendly beach across the street, and of course, went to Sunset Beach and the lighthouse, etc... Spent A LOT of time outside the house, but enjoyed the time we were there as well. The house was clean and has a beachy feel to it, but yet maintains its Victorian-style quaintness. I loved sitting on the deck and hearing the church bells toll. On a quiet evening, if you're in the backyard, you can hear the ocean waves crashing. If you're okay with climbing up and down a flight of stairs, you shouldn't mind the exercise. It can be a bit of a workout, though, especially if you have a dog that won't or can't climb steps (as in my case). One thing I did find out is that I'm not a huge fan of Roku...but if you don't mind streaming TV, you'll be just fine. If you HAVE to have cable TV, then make sure you call dibs on the room with the King bed. I would have preferred cable in the living room and other bedroom as well but it really wasn't a big deal, since I didn't go on vacation to watch TV. I loved having a washer and dryer on premises! Just a few observations/recommendations: Would have been nice to have at least 1 full length mirror... after getting ready for a night on the town, sometimes a girl likes to get a full view to make sure she looks okay. LOL. A Victorian style-type mirror would be a nice addition, as well as one night stand in the room with the Queen bed. There was nowhere to place things like a water bottle, book, reading glasses - would be convenient to have one next to the bed. There were armoires in each of the bedrooms -- very cool pieces; however, would have been ideal if they were functional. Other than those few minor observations, NO COMPLAINTS! Would book again! The owner, Michael, was great! Very helpful, down to earth and accommodating. This was my first experience with a Home Away rental and he made it a very pleasant one. Thank you for everything, Michael.
