About Valerie Williams

Hello – I am a grandmother, originally from the UK and still retain the accent and British sense of humour!

I live on the main floor above the suite. While I completely respect the privacy of my guests, I am always happy to answer questions or help with directions.

Having met many people from around the world during my travels and while working in the airline and travel industry, I really enjoy continuing to meet new people without actually leaving home.

If you have children or pets, the friendly hospitality at Ferry Walk House is specifically designed to offer services that will make everyone’s stay comfortable and enjoyable. I can provide any child-related equipment you need. If I don't have it, I can arrange for rental. For your furry family member, there is a fully-fenced garden patio, towels are provided and (of course), doggy treats.

I warmly invite you to come to stay at Ferry Walk House and enjoy life in Horseshoe Bay village.

Valerie Williams purchased this apartment in 2010

Why Valerie Williams chose Horseshoe Bay

Horseshoe Bay is a unique part of West Vancouver. There is a village atmosphere and shop owners are friendly and outgoing. The mountain and sea views from the village are forever changing and unfailingly spectacular. I love where I live and when you get here, you will see why!

What makes this apartment unique

You will enjoy all the comforts of a home away from home and plenty of brochures to give you ideas about what to see and where to go. Before your arrival I will be sending you a digital "Welcome Book" giving you information that includes, directions, parking, everything you need to know about your accommodation, and -local area information. You will find a copy of this book in the suite.

Bus travel is easy. The bus stop is 2 minutes away from the house, opposite the ferry terminal, and there is an express bus service into Vancouver that takes 30 minutes. Fares can be paid by cash or credit card.

You can hop on a ferry to Bowen Island (20 minutes), or to the Sunshine Coast (45 minutes), or Vancouver Island (90 minutes).

Whistler Mountain (winter Olympics 2010) is a 75 minute drive along one of the most scenic highways in the world. Along the way, you can visit Squamish, boasting a gondola with incredible views of the surrounding area.

You can also rent a boat or take the guided "Sea Safari" tour from Sewell's Marina - 3 minutes walk from the house. You can walk to a coastal park and beach, or visit Lighthouse Park with trails running through the awe inspiring forest. The opportunities and activities are endless!

Cozy, clean apt with an amazing host!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many homeaways all over the world and Valerie was one of the most gracious hosts we have ever experienced! The apt is immaculate and goes above and beyond the normal "basics" that you need. It's a great home base to explore all Vancouver has to offer and such a great location - walkable to restaurants, parks, the ferry and more. We comfortably stayed with our 2.5 year old and 5 month old. Valerie had set up the pack and play and booster chair before we arrived and had toys and books that our toddler loved while we were there. The outdoor space/garden is beautiful and relaxing and Valerie was always a text away. We hope to return one day and explore more, sans smoke! Thank you so much Valerie!

Owner's Response: My goodness Erin & Josh - after driving all the way from Vancouver to Portland with a toddler and a baby, you still managed to find time to write this review on the same day. What a huge compliment!! Thank you for your kind words. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to see some of the best parts of Vancouver. I look forward to seeing you again when the children are older.

Ferry Walk Fun

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Ferry Walk House in Horseshoe Bay, BC for about two weeks in mid-July. We found the suite to be very clean and well equipped with comfortable furnishings, modern appliances, and useful entertainment equipment. It was also amazingly well stocked with food products that you need in small quantities for your visit like sugar, and cooking condiments.

The suite is located on the first floor of Valerie William's home and you could not have a nicer, more attentive, more helpful, or less obtrusive landlady. Moreover, its location in Horseshoe Bay is ideal for visiting Vancouver, Whistler, and the many nearby small ports and islands that can be reached by ferry. One can board the ferries by walking five minutes from your door.

We highly recommend the Ferry Walk House as a wonderful vacation destination!

Wonderful host, great base location to explorer Vancouver and Whistler

  • 5 of 5

Valerie is a wonderful host, she will make you feel like home and more! My family of 3 loved staying here. It was a great base to take tours of Vancouver, and to explorer everything between Horseshoe Bay and Whistler - that path has a lot to offer! Right next to ferry to Vancouver Island - do not miss that! We hope to come back one day and stay with Valerie again.

Owner's Response: Thanks Songlin. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. I really enjoyed looking at the intricate Chinese characters written in my Guest Book. Although I can't read Chinese, it adds an elegant international quality that is priceless.

Shhhhh. Don’t tell anyone.

  • 5 of 5

We always wanted to visit Vancouver and after staying in the Ferry Walk House, we can't think of a more relaxing place to stay. It is an absolutely gorgeous area, the apartment is fantastic and we leave having gained a friend in Valerie. She has been so kind and always concerned about whether we were warm or cold. She was always a quick text away. Her hospitality was simply outstanding and many could learn from her.

So for now, we say goodbye to a new friend and hope to be back again when the flowers are in full bloom.

Clean, comfortable and well located.

  • 5 of 5

Valerie’s apartment is conveniently located in walking proximity to many amenities. It has a fully equipped kitchen and being able to use laundry facilities was a bonus for my two-week stay. Horseshoe Bay is a wonderful community and only 20 minutes away from Vancouver. Driving along Marine Dr. was very beautiful. Valerie is a very attentive host and made sure that my stay was comfortable. I would recommend this place without hesitation.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words Marielle. I’m so glad you enjoyed staying at Ferry Walk House and that you had the experience of being less than 5 minutes walk to everything in the village. I’m glad there were some beautiful sunny days so that you could also enjoy the backdrop of snowy mountains as well as the scenic drives along Marine Drive. Thank you for being a wonderful guest and for leaving the apartment as if you were never there. I would love to see you back again.
