About Susan Coy

We bought the home in 1999 and raised our 4 kids there in Calumet. It's a great place to raise your kids, visit historical sites, great for backpacking, snowmobiling, mountain biking, and just loving the great outdoors. Just recently we moved down state and wanted to let others enjoy and explore Calumet with the convenience of staying at a great home at a great price.

Susan Coy purchased this house in 1999

Why Susan Coy chose Calumet

This home was built in 1889 for the Tamarack Mine Head Engineer. We wanted to provide a large home where family and friends can enjoy being today with a lot space.

What makes this house unique

It has an enclosed front porch, great yard if you are bringing your pet, but the best part is the large open kitchen and dining room area with the warmth of the pellet stove for those cold nights.

Great location for exploring the Keeweenaw

  • 5 of 5

The house is roomy and comfortable but don't expect luxury. We drove from there to Copper Harbor to explore the north coast and the next day- Brockway Mountain Drive. There was a children's theater production Friday night in the historic Calumet theater, which is a gem not to be missed

Has potential to be very nice

  • 3 of 5

We did enjoy the house, and it easily could have been at least 4 star review, but it had not been freshly cleaned as evidenced by dead bugs on the windowsills and cobwebs in the staircase, someone's cigarette ashes left on a chair seat. The main bathroom did not have hand soap and the soap in the upstairs bath was mostly water. We liked the location, and the house was large, with an outdoor fire pit which we enjoyed. Overall not bad, just needs a better cleaning service with some attention to detail.

My Stay In Calumet

  • 5 of 5

The property was really nice, the only thing that could have been better is that the back yard

could have been mowed better. The garbage disposal didnt work. But other than that it was great. Thankful that there were ceiling fans in most of the rooms. A window air could be installed in living room, It was pretty cool when we were up there but I know it can get hot and thats when that would be nice.

Spacious place at a great price

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed staying here and would return. This place could use some less sheer curtains in the bedrooms and bathrooms along with some general repairs. Overall we were plenty comfortable and the location was great.

We had a great time!

  • 4 of 5

Really nice, quiet location, off the beaten path, but close enough to be where you need to be. Lot was well plowed even though snow levels are above average this year, and plenty of parking. I will stay here again.

Nice large historic home

  • 4 of 5

We were in town for a family wedding. We really couldn't ask for more. The kitchen was a good size to cook in and seating was more than adequate. The beds were very comfortable. The house was clean. I would have preferred more working windows and better water pressure but this is an older home and the historic charm more than makes up for it. We would reccomend this home to friends.
