  • Truly a place to relax.

"Gordy's Glory was perfect for us! It was clean, very well-outfitted, and just the right size for our family of four. We were able to take several day trips to Pictured Lakes (~1.5 hours), Iron Mountain (~1 hour), and even Mackinac Island (~2.5 hours plus ferry time). We always looked forward to our evenings back at the cottage. There were Sandhill Cranes in the yard daily, as well as geese, blue jays, and humming birds. The sound of the water from the bay was pure relaxation."

  • Great cabin, quiet in nature surrounded by trees and birds

"We had a great time in this cabin. We loved the porch around three sides of the house where you could always find the sun or shade at any time of the day. Enjoyed the quiet and the singing of the birds while reading and having my coffee. Supermarkets are 10 min away. The towns Houghton and Hancock give some fun things to do (15 - 20 min. drive), have some good local restaurants and coffee shops and are beautifully located along the big canal. A must stop is K.C. Bonkers Toys and Coffee in Hancock. This place is a blast with the best coffee in town and fun magical soda creations that children will get a kick out of, like dragon blood with Unicorn milk! Even my 14 year old liked it, so it is not too childish. Plus you can play some great family games while drinking your coffee. We had a great brunch at Suomi restaurant with a Finnish pancake, kind of custard thick with strawberry jam and cardamom toast, yum. It is not expensive. I highly recommend to go see the sunset at McClain State Park, a scenic drive from Hancock going East. We also toured the peninsula one day, Calumet is a neat town to visit, go to Connie's Kitchen to try a local Pasty. Then we took the scenic Brockway Mountain Drive, which was not scenic at all, until you get to the top with a beautiful view of the lake and surroundings. Driving down to Copper Harbor you have some more small scenic parking spots. Copper Harbor is very small, we were frankly not impressed but also tired of touring the whole day. It does seem to be a great place for some biking and hiking and possibly kayaking. The drive along the lake shore on the North -East was also very beautiful. There was plenty more to explore, but we did not have enough time, plus we also enjoyed staying at the cabin and breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the calm. They also have a sauna if you like that. The master bedroom is in the basement, it has a concrete floor with many rugs on it. The kids slept in a roomy loft with two queen beds on the bottom of the bunk beds which was a great place for them. I am sure you will have a good time here."

  • Beautiful cottage steps away from Lake Superior

"This is our second time staying at this particular cottage. It is absolutely beautiful! Clean, well maintained and stocked, and the decor is vintage, earthy, comfortable. Philip is a wonderful host. He welcomes our dogs..... it's not always easy to find a place to accommodate pets. The long walks on the private beach is therapeutic. We will return for many years to come to his properties!"

  • Wonderful long weekend

"We stayed here for a 5-day weekend with out-of-state friends after Labor Day. It was the perfect size for 4 adults and the location is excellent - close to the beach and Third Street. The bedrooms were great and the common areas are comfy and roomy. We cooked a little bit (there are many favorite restaurants nearby) and the kitchen is set up nicely with everything we needed. There are lots of creative decorative touches all over the house that make it feel special like a nice hotel. We will definitely try to stay here again!!"
