About Ray Richter

Born and raised in South Florida, we fall in love with the peaceful quiet setting of this property where we can be far away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities yet close enough for convenience. This is our dream place where we can smell the fresh air, come to relax and meet our families from other parts of the country. Great place for family get togethers and enjoy each other for holidays or any time of the year.

Ray Richter purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Ray Richter chose Lake James

This property offers everything anyone would want, 33 acres from the main road includes flat areas to top of the mountain. Fresh spring water from the creek, it is better than any bottle water sold in stores. Flat area for growing our own organic fresh veggies, fruits, blueberries and blackberries everywhere. Hiking all the way upto the top of the mountain and looking at all the great scenery around the Blue Ridge Mountain has to offer.

What makes this cabin unique

We just love everything about the home from the first minute we saw it advertised on the internet we bought it without even actually seeing it. The beautiful pastures, the swing on the porch, where we can sit relax and smell the fresh air and looking at the flowers and out into the the woods. The home is very private surrounded with wooded land all around it , feels like you are in your own paradise in the woods. The arched entryway and the beautifully shiny stained walls and floors just took our breath away. Very large rooms and bathrooms, open floor plan great for getting the family together.

Relaxation in the Rain

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed this cabin very much! It was very well stocked in the kitchen and had a lovely porch with seating and a porch swing. Very relaxing to listen to the rain we had during our stay. And we must say, we became great friends with Zuli, the camel, so much fun to see her up close and feed her carrots.

An amazing place to stay. Secluded out in the country, huge log cabin style house, immaculately kept

  • 5 of 5

This place is amazing. Beautiful log cabin style house, incredibly beautiful with all the architectural details. Great deck with lots of seating. Huge rooms all beautifully decorated. Kitchen stocked with every conceivable cooking and serving item. Everything I would have at home and more. It is very secluded and not close to any of your usual WNC tourist sites, so keep that in mind. But the beautiful backcountry drive makes it worth it.

Fun; quiet and peaceful mountain vacation

  • 4 of 5

The property was very clean and comfortable for our party of 7(4 adults and 3 kids). It was easy to get to and the roads were not bad to drive on. Loved the peace and quiet along with the beautiful scenery. Zuli the camel was a special treat for the kids. About 20 miles from lake Lure and Chimney Rock.
